Brett has struggled silently with severe TMJ for over a decade -- pain that has recently become unbearable and affected every part of his life. We had seen countless doctors over the years, but no one ever seemed to offer real help or hope... until now. From the moment we stepped through the door, we felt something different. Jenn, the office coordinator, greeted us with such a genuine smile and warmth that it immediately eased the stress and anxiety we had walked in with. Her kindness set the tone for everything that followed -- and let me say, it only got better from there. Laura, the dental assistant, is truly a calming presence. She was gentle, professional, and made sure Brett felt comfortable every step of the way as we prepared to meet with Dr. Vizcarra. And then there's Dr. Vizcarra -- an absolute revelation. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, but she also possesses the rare ability to truly connect with her patients. She didn't just speak at us -- she spoke to us. With empathy. With clarity. With respect. She explained complex issues in a way that made sense, and most importantly, she listened. For the first time in years, Brett felt heard, seen, and cared for. Dr. Vizcarra recommended a custom night guard, and after just two nights, Brett began to feel genuine relief. It's been nothing short of incredible. To watch someone I care so deeply about finally get real, tangible help after years of suffering -- I truly have no words. What this team offers goes far beyond treatment. It's care in the truest sense of the word -- thoughtful, compassionate, and deeply human. It's rare to come across people who not only excel in their field but also put so much heart into what they do. Dr. Vizcarra and her team have made an unforgettable impact, and we are endlessly thankful for the hope and healing they've given Brett. They are everything healthcare should be -- and more.

It turns out I have sleep apnea, big surprise to me but maybe it will explain some of my issues. Many reviews mention the alternatives to the Cpap, and I am proud to say I will be trying one of the alternatives, once they get it back in about two weeks and two days. Let's start at the beginning... I contacted them because I had been struggling trying to sleep, like some nights my smart watch could not even track any sleep! I knew I was waking up a lot, to use the restroom, get a drink, walk because my legs were ancy, etc. I let them know my concerns and I went home with a ring to wear for two nights to track my sleep. Today I returned the ring and was given my results. They went with night one, because night two did not track enough to get results. They showed me my results with a nice graph and everything that I can actually look at again in my patient portal. I was told I could try a Cpap or get one of the alternate options, which is a type of mouth guard. I don't have the outlets to support a Cpap at night, and I don't think I would like being hooked up to something so I went with the mouthguard option. They took me to another room where dental assistants, or dentists, mapped out my mouth. I will go back next month to get my new device, but who knows if I will do another review. Oh, now that I will be getting my guard, I will just have to go back to see how things go, so like a 5-6 week follow up, which will turn into annual follow ups. This may be a bit premature but check them out if you struggle with sleep too.

I went to the practice in Mesa. They were very pleasant and professional. They did a great job of…read moreaddressing my concerns. They fitted me for the device. I have an appointment in a couple weeks to get it. I'm anxious to see if it works!

I have never once felt rushed, brushed off, or minimized. He is thoughtful, patient, and incredibly thorough in a way that makes you feel genuinely cared for. What stands out most is how invested he is in his patients. If something is not working, he moves appointments sooner or personally calls to check in and adjust the plan. He is easy to get ahold of, responds quickly, and never makes you feel like a burden. He cares about overall health, not just symptom management, and does not prescribe casually or unnecessarily. Every conversation is honest and intentional. I am in a healthier and more stable place because of his guidance, and I am incredibly grateful for his steadiness, integrity, and compassion. He is the kind of physician you hope to find and feel very thankful to have.

I started off with Valley Sleep center with a virtual appointment at another office. We had a good…read morechat and overall the nurse I had talked to was interested in helping me, but did not have my test results to be able to recommend anything. A few days later I got a call saying she had gotten information/testing from my last sleep specialist and their scheduling team got me an appointment at the Scottsdale office due to my insurance. Their Scottsdale office should be avoided at all costs. My appointment started with nurse only bothering to print out my sleep record. She took (quite literally) two minutes to explain my sleep record to me and asked if I had any questions. At this point I was confused, as this was supposed to be a follow up from my last appointment. It was clear that the nurse did not care at all; she was clearly not prepared (she didn't go over any of the test results or other medical data the last nurse was sent), could not even answer my medical questions (she admitted she was not a pulmonologist which made me question why she was working here or doing my appointment in the first place??), kept mishearing my questions intentionally (I asked if my lung issues might have been allergy or an infection, she kept going on about how "soap can't cause infections" which I DID NOT ask at all???) and just honest to god, completely wasted my time. All she did was order supplies for me and wrote down information for a referral to a specialist. It was insulting and I felt like she literally did not want me to be there. There was then the issues with David, their referral specialist. He has the audacity to call me and tell me that the nurse who had wasted my time earlier that day did not even bother to send him the information for the specialist so I had to do the leg work for him and send the information to him instead of emailing or asking her for it. The next day he couldn't even find the specialist I had asked for and again, I had to do the leg work and tell him to just send my information to a specialist group. The specialist receives the referral a few days later and calls me to tell me they cannot admit me because my referral was missing diagnosis codes. I have literally waited months for this appointment due to having lung issues and I am no where near closer to finding out why I'm having problems. If anyone who works here is reading this; these two are horribly, dangerously incompetent and need to be fired. They do not care enough to be working in the medical field and are one careless appointment away from harming someone.

Over a year ago, I came to Canyon Sleep knowing that SOMETHING was likely amiss with regard to my…read moresleep. I had been experiencing severe fatigue for quite some time. I was just "so tired" all of the time. I was fatigued to the point that I was exhausted throughout my days, and I slept excessively (well over 10 hours between the hours I slept during the day & my nights ... probably closer to 11.5-12 hours). This was getting serious. I would nod off while driving my children home from school. I couldn't read to them as I would fall asleep before even the briefest of children's books concluded, I could never stay awake during a full length feature film at the cinema, and I rarely could even muster up the energy to take the children out to eat at a pizza parlor (like Chuck E. Cheese). My two young sons wanted me to be as active as they are, and, sadly, I couldn't be there for them in the manner and scope they wanted and deserved their mother to be. I could feel the children's disappointment, and it hurt to be unable to be there for them, to be unable to fully participate in their lives, but it wasn't a choice. I was JUST "TOO TIRED." I really, genuinely, could not do anything beyond what was absolutely necessary, and I struggled even to do that (the bare necessities). I had come to accept that I needed the assistance of a sleep specialist to get to the bottom of this. Ultimately, after 2 sleep studies and determining that there were multiple factors at play, Dr. T. provided me the information and necessary tools to change my life. One such tool is a unique device one places inside the mouth for 20-minutes each day to exercise one's tongue/address sleep apnea (a wonderful alternative to CPAP). Since utilizing this device, I have been able to sleep through the night w/out having my sleep interrupted multiple times (throughout the night), resulting in a deep and meaningful impact on my overall physical/mental health and wellness. Additionally, I have received medication that helps me to stay awake whilst driving, during a movie at a theater, whilst reading my kids a book, or even be up for a day of play at a high energy spot like The Great Wolf Lodge. The office experience at Canyon Sleep has always been welcoming, friendly, comfortable, and professional, from the very beginning. I could not be more pleased. I also appreciate that they do offer telehealth appointments which are extremely easy as well as convenient. After addressing my condition, Dr. T. also met with my son and had an impressive exchange with him to address an issue regarding his difficulties falling asleep. Dr. T was able to engage with my youngest in a fun and exciting manner that ensured he both enjoyed, as well as benefited from, his visit to the office. Dr. T. had bright, colorful, interesting props and tools that he brought out of a "doctor's bag" during my son's exam and consultation. In summary, it is difficult to express the depth of my gratitude to/for Dr. T and staff. Canyon Sleep truly restored my ability to fully engage and interact with my boys and significantly improved my health, general sense of wellbeing, and overall happiness. To have the energy and wakefulness to fully participate in every aspect of life, and in the lives of my children, is truly priceless. THANK YOU CANYON SLEEP. If you are considering consulting with a neurologist for any sleep related concerns, I cannot recommend Dr. T enough. Please do not hesitate to give Canyon Sleep a call. I promise you'll be glad you took the initiative to move forward. This call will be your first step toward better sleep and better health.

From the moment I walked into this medical office, I knew it was a different kind of practice and…read moreone that would fit me just perfectly. There wasn't a huge line of people or a group of 3-4 people working at the front desk. Instead, they come across as a bit hard-to-find, and perhaps a bit difficult to get an appointment with. That's OK! Its well worth it. They do not push CPAP and they seem to ONLY care about getting you a solution for your sleep issues that fits you. It's a husband and wife team, a PA-C and an MD Sleep Neurologist. Together, they are a very impressive outfit. I was very thoroughly examined, interviewed extensively about my habits and past experiences. Then, the MD came in and managed a number of tests of different kinds to see how my body is working. I was given a test to take home and we're going to start with that to see just what level of sleep Apnea I have. All in all, I was very satisfied and I feel like for the first time I am on the right path to get this fixed.
