One day in the fall of 2020, while walking across our porch, my husband's foot punched through a…read morespot of rotted wood. We promptly decided it was time to have it replaced...better than ever before! We got a couple bids for the job. But Charles really stood out because: 1. After walking the job, he promptly sent a detailed bid and CAD drawing. We refined the scope several times and every time he would promptly refine the quote and redo the CAD drawing. Very good follow through. Not pushy, just responsive. 2. He had a large book of color photographs of his work that helped us choose finishes and make design decisions. He has done a TON of patios and pergolas in different styles. I love this book because there are a lot of decisions to make -- it's easier to point to the picture you like more vs. having to imagine if you want feature A or B. In terms of price, Charles was in the middle -- not the highest bid and not the lowest. But we got the best feeling from him, and that's what is important to me. We redid our kitchen two years ago and our general contractor (not Charles, obviously), fled the country in the middle of the job after a progress payment! Yikes, bad memories. I am very happy with how my patio and pergola turned out; we seriously live outside now. We have a plexiglass cover (to protect from rain) and fans (to help somewhat with the Texas heat). Charles and his crew were great overall. Pluses: - They only do outdoor patios and pergolas. This is what they are good at and they are fast. - Charles was here a lot, especially at first to get the job started. He didn't just oversee progress, he was out there working and sweating with his men. - Charles helped to perfect the design while the job was in progress. He had his wife paint several different colors of grey stain onto sample boards so we could choose the right one. We spent a few hours perfecting the brick pattern on the columns. He wanted us to be happy with the final outcome. - Flexible with changes with very few change orders. I must have added 10 electrical outlets...didn't get a bill for it. So unusual for a GC. - Open to feedback when we felt like something wasn't perfect. Because they were outside my kitchen window, I would do dishes and watch progress unfold. And let him know when I didn't like something. Absolutely never got push back from him. He would call his crew or come by and fix it immediately. - Follow through has been great. Even after we were all paid up, he sent over a crew a couple times because rain was getting through my plexiglass cover. Again, so unusual for a GC. Minuses: - I wish they would broaden their scope from just outdoor patios and pergolas to other things. I have a bathroom I would love for them to remodel. Ah well. Anyway, check out the pictures. One of the prettiest patios and pergolas I have ever seen, and I'm lucky enough to have it in my backyard.

We all know the issues that Harvey caused all over Houston, so roofers are in high demand. I…read morereceived several INSANE quotes, including one to replace my entire roof. I called ASAP; they initially advised that they were behind on schedule (makes sense due to the hurricane) so it would be a few days before they could get to me. Fortunately, once I gave my address they realized someone was in the neighborhood and they came and gave me a quote that same day. Wow! The quote was a fraction, I mean like an insane fraction, of what was being quoted to me by multiple parties. They also advised my roof had several more years left on it before I needed to consider replacement. The roofer was here within the time frame he advised, did one more final inspection to ensure he was fixing all the necessary areas and discussed them with us, finished and explained what he had done. I was so happy to have found them! I do recommend their services for anyone in need!!! Fair rates and great service!! I will say - hold on to the expectation of perky service, the gentleman I dealt with was very direct and to the point. By no means rude at all, quite the opposite, in fact. But also not the preppy secretary from the Houstonian. I will be using them in a few years when it's time to replace my roof.

I contacted Cornerstone Cowboys for an estimate via Yelp and Carlos responded quickly. Carlos, Jesus and Rosie came out the next day to take a look at our issues and to come up with a game plan. I was sent the estimate and gave them the go ahead. Jesus arrived bright and early to start and the job finished in a reasonable time. The areas that were fixed look FANTASTIC. P.S. Carlos, Jesus and Rosie were super friendly. The one thing we wish we had was a little more clarification with the pricing/estimate prior to signing it. I had asked questions and thought we were all on the same page. Unfortunately, there were added expenses that my husband and I thought were included that weren't and we had to pay extra. Regardless, we are happy with the work that was done and would definitely consider working with Cornerstone Cowboys. Next time we will need things on the estimate broken down more and any and all clarifications be made prior to starting. Thank you Cornerstone Cowboys.

RESPONSE to Paula Souto's continued ignorant comments. If I…read moredidn't want to pay you, I would NOT have paid you. I'm not the liar and bad business here. You see the videos, the pictures aren't posted only because this format somehow didn't accept it. Your business was subpar, you tried to take advantage of the natural disaster, you didn't hire professionals, then tried to play victim, you can try to skirt around it all you like but facts are facts. I have saved every text message and picture. Bring It! This is in response to the lies stated by Paula Souto on my review. I was in close communication with her and her husband from day 1. They came earlier than intended to fix my gate due to me having a dog and my neighbors having the fence down. I initially thought they were honest and sincerely concerned after they told me they used to be dog breeders. Basically when they came the husband had their inexperienced young family members doing the work...young teens, early twenties, it seemed. I sent multiple text messages to the fact that the fence was not put up correct with pictures and videos. I was not initially angry because I figured they would right a wrong. I own my own business, I don't automatically think someone is trying to get over on me, we are a Christian company. I asked them to build a small gate BEFORE they had completed the fence, NOT AFTER. The check Paula is lying about saying "an officer had to call me to pay her' is a COMPLETE LIE! YES, the check was returned NSF after they didn't deposit the check for more than 7 days. I will have to go back in my records to see the exact date. I again was STILL communicating with her and told her that I would make partial payments until it was completely paid off. That is how I was able to get her bank ACH info. I was doing everything I promised I'd do despite the trash job they did repairing my fence. Someone came by and nailed in SOME of the loose boards without notifying me that they were there. The video I posted was a video I sent her before things escalated. I was trying to give them a chance to right their wrong...but instead they started this BS with the police as if someone was stealing from them. Disgusting, smh. An officer DID call me and I let him know the same thing that I told these people, THE WORK WAS SHOTTY, I paid them PARTIAL payments via ACH BEFORE the officer ever called me and I told the officer to do WHATEVER he deemed necessary because there was NEVER anything fraudulent done to these people. I put them at the BOTTOM of the list to get paid after I saw the shotty work they did. She says a "nice officer" called me, laughable! I was livid a police officer called me and I let him know it too. Paula left out a lot of pertinent facts regarding this entire situation. I have all proof of payments made BEFORE the officer called me and his name and contact information so he can tell you that this was NEVER a police matter, it's a CIVIL case...but it doesn't surprise me that a white woman would call the police on a black woman and cry wolf. #Karen I will write another review and show the pictures of this fence and just how horrible it looks STILL to this day! I have had other contractors come here and look at this fence even they are astonished at how poorly it was done. Normally a company doesn't try to play the victim when they are receiving payments...but this shows their true nature.
