If someone has told you that this is a beautiful beach park with fabulous views, they were dead wrong. If you think it might be a great place to fire up a grill and relax, you are sorely mistaken. If you got the crazy idea in your head that this would be the perfect way to spend a summer day, I say, no way, Jose. This place is not for you. Keep on trucking in your monstrous SUV. The fried dough at Old Orchard Beach is calling out to you.

Relatively convenient restrooms. Never jammed with people, like the wide sandy NH and MA beaches. Bring your own food and drink, there's nothing nearby, but does have picnic tables. The check-in was easy and the Staff is available to meet and offer guidance one you arrive. They don't allow golf carts in the parking lot so you want to get there early to allow adequate time for check-in. The course was in very good condition. Tee boxes were well marked and in good repair. The fairways are not exceedingly wide so you will be in trouble if you are not accurate off the tee. My biggest complaint was all the granite rocks, just a real pain and on several holes can really impact your shot selection. There is some up and down and few elevated tee boxes but not a lot. My favorite hole was #17, a 135 yard Par 3. There is a big granite rock that partially blocks a clear path/view to an elevated green. You don't want to be left or you are on Mt Rushmore and not in a good way.

Having been stationed at Pease Air Force Base from 1981-1983, and having played this course several…read moretimes back then. I was excited to return. Things have definitely changed. A lot of trees are gone, the swampy area (which we called the flats) seems to have been drained, and I noted the course was in excellent condition. It seemed to me to be shorter and play easier than I remember, but I really only remembered 2 holes (#10 at the end of a runway, which i remember as #1 and #2 which i remember in general but not where on the course it was). But... it's been 40 years and I may be misremembering. Anyway, the course is forgiving. My drives were not spectacular, but u was able to hit approach shots on or near enough to the green to score mostly pass and bogeys... in a soaking rain. As a veteran, I payed $38 to walk, which i thought reasonable. After, i went to the grill for lunch. However, no one had noticed me for two minutes, and, since I was wet and uncomfortable, I left and drove back to connecticut. I definitely want to go back on a warm, sunny day!
