THE HIDDEN GEM OF PERRY, GA!…read more While visiting the city of Perry, my husband and I decided to check out the local community theatre which was having an Open House today. This building has been around since the twenty's, and was originally a car dealership. It was acquired in the 1980's and converted into the theatre. It appears to be in great shape. We had an opportunity to chat with the director and some of the employees, Volunteers are in the process of preparing the stage, (priming and construction). for their next production, (Plaza Suite by Neil Diamond), with starts later this month. The director was very enthusiastic about it all and if I recall correctly, they are in their 34th year. It usually takes about seven weeks for them to get the stage set up and ready to go. While I was there, I wanted to check out the seating situation. The seats, (170), are great because they are cushioned and set in such a way they you have a great view of the stage from every angle. It also helps that the stage is large, open and quite close to the audience. This is truly community theatre as it is all volunteer and two of the current principles have had no prior acting experience. Everyone is encouraged to try out.and I would love to come down and actually see one of their productions. If you live close by, you should take the time to come by and support this local theatre. It is located in the heart of downtown, (on Main street), and would be a perfect option for "date night". Check out the website where you can purchase your tickets on line.

The food is standard bowling alley food at a good price and tastes great. It's quicker to come here than the pizza place on base. If you're going to grab lunch. The main reason I gave four stars is because it's an old building that hasn't been renovated in a while. That is to be expected on a military installation. The staff was courteous and efficient. I went today for Stuntfest car and bike show. It's a huge event in the area, but the staff seemed…read moreto be ill prepared for the crowd. Traffic was a major turnoff. It took over an hour to get into the track. Then when you finally get to the gate it was a mess as people had to criss cross to switch lanes due to not all lanes accepting all forms of payment. There are bleachers to sit and watch the races some are covered, but not many. The races kept getting delayed due to spectators too close to the track, which looks to be a security issue also due to the ambulance kept getting called away from the track to tend to spectators. You would think there would have been more than one ambulance on site. Smh.
