I went here with my boo because he is a huge car enthusiast. We drove all the way down here to see some cool cars and some drag racing. I'm so glad we did since it was a new experience for me. I was shocked to see that people race their real cars and motorcycles on this track. The cost to get in was $50 or $60 (I still think either one was way too much). The parking was packed on the Sunday I went, but i was told that the parking can be even more jammed up. There were some vendors selling food and drink items, but you can bring in your own if you like. We bought some pink lemonade that was delicious (I can't remember the name of that vendor though). Since it had rained, the track was a bit wet so we had to wait for them to dry the track a bit before the races began. There's a sign up period to get your car entered and then they pair you up to race. I believe these folks are racing for a pot of money, but i'm not sure. There's a DJ playing music, so there were plenty of times that i wasn't listening to the announcer. What was i doing, you ask? I was people watching, dancing in my seat as i recited the lyrics to my favorite trap music tunes, and trying to guess which amped up cars were faster than others. There were several parents who had their little children out there, but aside from the cover charge there's a lot of drinking and smoking (not just cigars and cigarettes) which would prevent me from taking mine. Lucky for me, mine are finally and out of the house.
My suggestions are as follows:
1. Take your own foldable chair. They have metal bleachers you can sit on, but with all the people trying to cram on those things, its better off to sit off in the grass near the fence in your own personal chair (imo).
2. Take your own food and drinks/dranks. There are trash cans through out so you can toss your stuff before you leave.
3. Ladies, don't wear heels if you can help it. There is a lot of gravel/dirt and no one wants to mess up their heel by digging into all that gravel while you are trying to walk and be cute. Slay another way.
4. Be mindful of others. There are police officers patrolling the place, but no one gets checked for guns upon entering. I saw plenty of folks with guns under their shirts and i'm sure others had theirs in the car. While nothing popped off while i was there, however i wouldn't be shocked if there had been incidents in the past (drunk people, guns, impaired judgement=oops moments). I'm not saying this place is any more dangerous than any other place in America, but i'm just saying be careful and aware of your surroundings (just in case).
