If I could give zero stars, I would. This is going to be a long review, so here's a brief summary of my experience. We ended up terminating services with Bill 10 days before our wedding due to the lack of communication, unprofessionalism and the disregard for our requests. Money was tight leading up to the wedding, but we knowingly cancelled services even though we would still have to pay in full because of the lack of confidence we had in him. If you're still reading, please prepare yourself for my experiences with him: We booked Bill the summer of '24 for our wedding that just took place a couple of days ago (April '25). We talked to him on the phone, and he presented himself to us with quite the ego. He kept telling us that he was the best, he was a professional and that everyone loved him. We were also told that he would provide us with links to his work, but no links were sent. We still picked him because of the good reviews. Fast forward to the end of March, I reached out to Bill about 2.5 weeks before our wedding because I had not heard from him since we booked him. I asked to do a phone call meeting to go over everything for the wedding, and I sent him a very detailed schedule/notes to look over prior to our call. On the day of our scheduled call, he indeed did NOT call me like he said he was going to. Instead, I waited 20 minutes past the scheduled time and then I called him. We talked on the phone, and we did not go over much for the wedding because he told me that he did not even look over any of the notes I sent him. I was pretty frustrated that he was late (if you can call it that, since I had to call him) and unprepared. I marched on and started asking him questions to which his replies were "don't stress," "everyone loves me," "I've done this before," which is exactly what every stressed bride wants to hear, am I right? He was very condescending and overtly dismissive throughout the entire 10 minutes on the phone. He then goes on to tell me that he has a music list of over 2,000 songs that he would like us to go through for the wedding, and I asked him to send me those links of his work that he talked about at the initial booking call. After this call, we went through the list, and it said to return completed 2 weeks prior to the wedding day, which was only a couple days from when we received the list. Not only should we have received this list probably months in advance, but also the spreadsheet was literally labeled "Copy of Songlist - 2010." The label was very accurate because there was not a single song on there from after the year 2010, and the spreadsheet sent to us had markings on it already, which showed us that this was probably someone else's sheet. His behavior and lack of preparedness did not instill any semblance of confidence in us. We looked back at our contract, and it said we would owe him the full amount if cancelled within 60 (!!!) days prior to our event. Keep in mind the 60 days because it will be important later. We decided to keep him because it was super last minute to find a new DJ. Due to the lack of confidence, we decided we needed to meet him in person to go over everything before the wedding, so we sent him another email to schedule that. We were very specific on our availability times (ex. "Wednesday, April 9th after 2:30pm" etc), so there would be no confusion. Low and behold, there was confusion. I was emailed 20 minutes after the in person meeting time one week BEFORE we were actually supposed to meet stating that he was waiting at the Panera. We were very confused and reminded Bill that our meeting was not for another week. He proceeded to tell us that he drove an hour and a half to meet us and if we could still come by. We replied saying that we had other obligations, which is why we did not list that date in our availability. This was the final thing that pushed us to terminate services with him. He was not reliable, prompt or able to follow explicit directions. It also showed me that he did not save my phone number because he only communicated with us over email when the meet up incident occurred. This meant he was never going to call me for the initial phone call meeting, and we never would have chatted if I did not call him. When we sent our concise termination of services email to him 10 days before the wedding, he replied very unprofessionally. His email was riddled with spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors to which we deemed no reply was necessary. We decided to eat the price and find a new DJ to which we are so happy we did. One day before our wedding, he sent us an invoice for the remaining balance, which we knew we were going to pay. In his note attached to the invoice, he wrote that we signed a contract and had to cancel 90 days before the event. Bill obviously did not even read his own contract because it said 60 days in the one we signed. We paid it, but we would definitely recommend to NOT book with Bill. Literally find ANYONE else. read more

Our wedding was almost two years ago, but I just pulled out the cd Bill made for us for that day, and I got a huge smile on my face just thinking about how much fun we had that night, and a huge part of that was because Bill made sure we had the most wonderful reception. Bill was incredibly easy to talk to and work with, fun, professional, and a pro when it came to getting ALL of our wedding guests up and dancing - even my 94 year old great-great-aunt. The music was exactly what we'd wanted, the sound was great, even for our small(ish) hall. He was also able to recommend a photographer for us who did great work as well and whom he had worked with many times before - and you could tell by how well they worked together that night to make sure everyone had a fantastic time. And I also have to add that Bill comes prepared for weddings - I ripped the "fluff" under my dress while climbing out of the limo and one safety pin wasn't going to stop me from walking/tripping on it for the rest of the night. Bill was there to greet us when we walked into the hall, and when I told him what had happened he said, "No problem!" He just happened to carry a bag of safety pins and other bride-saving goodies just for moments like that. I had my dress fixed in 5 minutes! And when you're a bride, those little things DO turn into big disasters (at least in your head), But Bill saved the day! You cannot go wrong hiring A Sound Decision DJ service. I would recommend him to any of my friends or family for any event that needed a DJ! His rates are fantastic, his joy of the job is evident, and his experience shows. read more

If you Google A SOUND DECISION you'll find LOADS of positive reviews from a DJ who's been in business in our area for years. At first I thought he was too good to be true, but in consulting with Bill and getting quotes from him as well as other DJ's, he was consistently the easiest to talk to, had a great attitude about the style of our reception, not to mention his rates are phenomenal. Because he's so experienced, he seems to be more able than others to tailor his style to your event, while also not bombarding with questions and forms. My favourite part was recieving his playlist book a couple weeks out. It's well organized in many categories so you can not only more easily find what you want, but also looking through you find songs you forgot and love. We don't have a lot of dancers in our family, and our wedding was slightly 40's themed, so we had lots of 'classics' as well as some good old 80's oldies hits ("i wish i was a little bit taller..., lol"). At the end of the evening when the kids got restless they even got them all out on the floor and got them dancing. Before we left they also gave us a CD of some of the songs we had picked, which we listened to on loop on our honeymoon roadtrip the next week. Having talked to almost EVERY DJ in the 'Region' I can honestly say that Bill & his crew are THE best for wedding receptions. His ability to tailor each event to the individual, his professinalism, appropriate rates, and preparation set him apart from others. I am excited to reccomend him to anyone. read more

Bill Armington with A Sound Decision was very professional and passionate about his work. He is very personable and delivered everything he promised. Only one complaint we have is during the father-daughter dance we requested a Dean Martin song and somehow a song played that we never heard of with a beat impossible to dance to ended up playing. This was very disappointing but I'm sure it was a mix-up. We requested the music low during dinner and to remain a comfortable volume throughout the remainder of the evening. Everyone was pleased with the volume and music selection. The dance floor was packed with all age groups till the lights came on at the end of the night. The groom and I wanted an encore. Excellent DJ, he knows how to read the crowd and keep people dancing till the end. read more

Bill is a truly amazing professional. He went above and beyond our expectations for our wedding. All of the songs we wanted played were there and he kept the dance floor full all night! There are not enough good things to say about his service. Things went very smoothly and he was able to accommodate last minute changes. We had so much fun and so many compliments on the flow of the evening and song selection. He has a huge music library and he will get you any song you want. He also had an amazing suggestion for our photographer and was willing to help with any aspect of our day. A++. We will definitely be recommending him to anyone and everyone we know. A BIG shout out to Bill and John for an amazing time at the Sanlo Christmas Party (12/19/15). Everyone had such and amazing time and nothing, but positive feedback. What truly stood out for everyone is that they played EVERY request and their interaction with the crowd was awesome. We are ready to get next years date reserved NOW.
