It was, in a word, fantastic. First off-the service. The gentleman who attended our table was delightful. Patient in explaining the dishes, his favorites (which we ordered), and just a great sense of humor and kindness about him. Next, and importantly, the food was amazing. We had the Stonbass and the Turbot with potatoes and a mixed salad. Grilled to perfection, fresh as could be. The meal was so good. My partner had the lemon meringue (after the pastry chef suggested it). Light and lovely. It was a great meal. A great spot. A great staff. We could not have asked for more. Neither could you. Do it!

Everything was perfect! Highly recommended…read more We made reservations for lunch on a Wednesday. Glad we did. It was very busy. Excellent Sea Bass for my husband. And veggie soup along with algarvian salad for me. Prices were very reasonable. And quality of food was fantastic. Service was impressive. The best part of our entire dining experience was the kind beautiful smile and expert service by the young woman with beautiful black braids. Her name may have been Erika (she's expecting also). What a gem of an employee and definitely an asset to this restaurant. All in all a great lunch at a traditional Sagres family restaurant!!

There were 3 other tables who had ordered before us who still hadn't received their food. Our server said they were very busy. As if the restaurant had never been busy before ever?? We left after 50 minutes. Infuriating and no sense of urgency. Don't come here and waste your time.

Great roadside restaurant right on the way to the Sagres fort. An excellent option for lunch!…read more The restaurant is split into two sides, to the left the proper restaurant and to the right smaller cafe for a quick espresso or sandwich. To walk into the left hand side after they have been cooking is to inhale the richest purest aroma of fish broth. A promising sign of things to come. We started with their appetizer plate (a ubiquitous element to Portuguese meals- offered without ordering, although not free) with tasty cheese, olives, bread, and anchovy paste. For the meal we had Sagres local beers, and the regional algarve specialty of clams in a butter-garlic sauce and then one of A Sagres' famous fish stews. This is a BIG pot of broth with rice at the bottom and many kinds of fish and prawn cooked with it. It is like a magnificent soup version of a paella. With just this starter, small entree, and big soup entree we were completely full. After the meal we took cafe espressos and a slice of almond orange cake. We were deeply satisfied, and the service, while not the fastest, was very friendly.
