Laura understood our design preferences and helped us create a vision of the space, including the furniture, rug, and window treatments for our dining room. They look great! Interior Designer: Laura Koshel Details: COVID lockdowns reminded us what we love about our Chapel Hill home, and highlighted what we didn't. Topping the list: Our master bedroom; a sad and soulless room with a bed - equal parts beige and obsolete. Laura guided us, nay glided us through a collaborative design experience resulting in our dream bedroom. From the bespoke oak bed system with hand-tufted headboard to the full-wall remote motorized window treatments, she delivered us the perfect slumber chamber. The stunning lighting, soothing fabrics, and sexy sightlines make this our favorite room in the house. Decidedly luxe with a touch of swank, our new sanctuary all but beckons us to relax. My husband and I moved to Cary from south Florida last year. We rented a house, intending to stay…read morethere while we scoped out the area - but then this fantastic townhouse came on the market and we had to buy it. Next question: What to put in it? It's much bigger than our rental house - and much nicer. That said, we didn't want to spend crazy money on new furniture (we've made that mistake before) - but on the other hand, we wanted nice stuff (i.e., not Rooms to Go). We recognize our limitations, so I searched for someone who could help us with our new home - and luckily enough found Amy. She first went to our rental house (where we were still living) to see what we already had, get an idea of our colors, artwork, etc., then went to our new (empty) home. We were, frankly, amazed at some of her suggestions - amazed just because they *never* would have occurred to us. As soon as she saw our (very large) master BR suite, she noted that there was ample space to fit our existing living room furniture. She also suggested that we have the mantle in the living room (which was crazy high) lowered. ??!! We did not know such a thing was even possible. Amy had great recommendations for - and accompanied us on - furniture shopping trips (can't say enough about Cooper's - must get to their review next). She was also great for the little stuff - positioning furniture, helping organize the kitchen, etc. We could not have had a better experience and would not hesitate to seek her advice again.

When I reached out to Amy and told her what I needed, she made it happen! Finding pieces in one room that would be better in another; creating flow where corners or awkwardness had previously interrupted it; and most importantly, making this brand new space feel like our home. Working with Amy is quite a treat! She's professional, detail oriented, and has resources for whatever a home and family might need! Having an understanding of different perspectives in decor is a HUGE plus, too, as a simple mention of feng shui (which I know nearly nothing about) opened up a whole new conversation about placement of plants and honorary placement of our dearly departed pets! She has amazing energy, practical sensibilities, and a keen understanding of family functioning so she can help turn a house into a home. BIG SIGH! I adore my home now!

We met with Lisa to discuss ideas on remodeling our 1990s-era bathrooms because we were unsure of how to proceed. Lisa was able to present us a new vision, rescaling our plans and saving us a significant amount of money while still achieving our goal of creating an elegant, updated look and enhancing the function of the spaces. The savings on our bathroom remodels will allow us to embark on other redecorating projects that we thought were beyond our reach. We are thrilled! Lisa has amazing insights into melding function with beauty, and she has an appreciation of and respect for collectibles and antiques, and how best to display them to tell our family story. She has extensive resources to help us realize our vision. We are looking forward to continuing to work with Lisa to enhance our entire home, thereby enriching our family life. We are so pleased to have her as our guide in this journey! Kristine W.

Décor Coach

We found The Decor Coach while searching for an interior designer in Apex. Dozens of 5 star…read morereviews caught our eye, but the coaching service and flat rate pricing on the website got us to reach out. Just one coaching session saved us hours of frustration and potentially thousands of dollars in well-intentioned mistakes... Within 3 hours we had selected a luxury vinyl plank floor, a color palate for the entire house and next steps for our kitchen and 3 bathrooms (oh, and how to bring our floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace into this century) . She gave us tips on how to properly use paint samples to verify our color choices, select light fixtures, areas rugs, and other accessories. The final thing she provided, though, is worth her consulting price just on its own: contact information for skilled craftsmen of all trades that she has worked with and trusts. She takes no commissions or kick-backs for these referrals because she wants them to be the highest quality at the best price with no bias. Jodi is professional, approachable, experienced, and passionate about helping people. She put our family first, identified our style and provided a holistic strategy for focusing our budget on the highest impact improvements. It has been an empowering experience and we will use Decor Coach at every phase of our home improvements from now on.

My wife and I purchased a beautiful home in Lochmere (Cary, NC) that needed a complete renovation…read moreto both modernize it (it was built in 1989), and to make it our own. We knew what our style was and knew what we wanted, but we didn't know how to quite get there. We knew we needed an interior designer to help us realize our dream home, but didn't even know how they worked, what they cost nor how to find one. After vetting several "full service" designers (at full service prices), we found Jodi on Angie's List, and loved her concept of coming to our home to consult, and then letting us do the fun part of shopping and collecting what we liked. Jodi would then come back to see what we picked and then help us make the choice of what was going to work and what wasn't. Both my wife and I love working with Jodi (we're still at it!). First, Jodi's knowledge base and experience spans every room and style. We wanted traditional and she has helped us design a tea room, a piano room and even a library (and everything in between). Jodi has an excellent eye for color, and she helped us pick out over eight complementary colors for our different rooms. Jodi always arrives on time, is happy to help and is patient with me even when I'm inpatient with myself. Jodi has an extensive list of referrals which we have used to save a ton of money, time and frustration. For example, she gave us a recommendation to a bathtub refinishing person who came in and completely refinished our tub and surrounding white subway tile so that it looks brand new! That was only $650 (including removing and re-installing the shower door) and that saved us thousands. She's recommended cabinet refinishing and rebuilding people and others and they have saved us time and money and done amazing jobs for us. The other thing about Jodi's referrals is that she is constantly updating them based on their recent performance. She withdrew several referrals once her other clients had unsatisfactory experiences with them and then was able to provide us with new ones based on recent experiences with other clients. If you are looking to do any decorating and don't know where to start - or simply want a second opinion - don't hesitate to call Jodi. She's reasonable (best deal is to buy her 3-hour rate), and she has great intuition and an eye for style, and great experience for what order you should buy and furnish rooms as well. Thanks, Jodi, for everything so far - once we move it, we'll begin furnishing each room with your help!
