The mat was not cut large enough, even though he precisely measured. It floated around the inside of the frame; not a tight fit. I decided to just take it as it was hidden from the front by the width of the frame and out of view. . Price was double what I was quoted on the phone.

Our interior designer stepped in, when I found myself completely 'out of gas' after selecting the prints for her to source, to recommend Finer Frames to do the work because she knew they did great work and with good turnaround times too. Right on all counts! We have a lot of custom framed art in our home, collected by working with framing galleries over the last 40 years as we moved around, and so I very much appreciated that the gallery owner, Meg, who was also the framer for our prints approached it with the eye of an artist, which she also is. Her frame stock recommendation resulted in the perfect choice. The work was expertly done and the turnaround time was excellent too. We have used a couple of other framing galleries in the area over the last seven years, we have been happy with both businesses for their strengths but also knowing their weaknesses we chose one or the other depending on the project. But Finer Frames will now be our one and only choice going forward for any project. VIBE: If you're like my husband and me who love both galleries and looking at framing materials, this will be a veritable candy land of options to consider. Also, the vibe inside was all "chillax" with jazz on the sound system and ample space in between items to look about. I said, and I'm not kidding, that depending on time of day I'd like to linger with cup of coffee or glass of wine in hand and soak it all in for an extended time. So I like to come in on the sale days and then the prices are more equitable to the other shops. That's annoying to have to do but whatever. They do have some unique stuff. Another thing that is annoying is their policy regarding exchanges. I purchased an item on a sale day but bought the wrong color. I went back a few days later to exchange it for the right color but was told that since the sale was over, I would have to pay full price for the right one. What!? I understand the sale was over but I wasn't trying to get additional items at the sale price, I just wanted an even exchange. There's absolutely no loss on their side whatsoever. It just seems to me that a smaller chain would be more reasonable and want to keep their customers.

As I'm struggling to hold my 40lb 2yr old to comfort him, the guy asked if he was mad about something or was hurt. I already had judgy eyes on me and whispering from other customers and this guy furthered my embarrassment by doing this. I'm sure he was trying to be helpful but it didn't make me feel better when he drew more attention to an already embarrassing situation. An employee Roberto was looking at my perplexed face and said, " I can get those down for you. How many do you want?" Kudos to Roberto for recognizing an issue and acting on it before me or anyone else pestering him to go get the ladder. Young man, Roberto, that intuitive customer service will take you places.
