When traveling out of town I always go to a plus one currency. Customer Service is always great and park next-door is a pus.

Nice staff. Simple, easy, and fair exchange rates. Highly recommend. Easy parking at 4th & Broadway (where store is located at street level of SM City Parking Ramp. $1.00 = 90-minutes. read more

I came here to exchange My US Dollars for Saudi Riyal for my Hajj/Umrah trip and rate was more than I expected and the Persian Guy who did the exchange was professional and blessed me that I have a safe trip. I highly recommend any one who is traveling to get their currency exchange here and NEVER at the airport because you will get less. Also parking is free for 60-min at the Public Garage which is next to the exchange and the processes/exchange only took less than 5-mins. It was quick and easy and worth the drive. read more

Came here on Bank of America's recommendation and they gave me a great rate. Seemed to be better than what I was getting in the ATM's at Mexico. Highly recommend. read more

The owner was such a nice man and was very helpful. The hours were very convenient and the location was in a nice area. Highly recommend.

The man who helped us was nice, patient and knowledgeable. Even gave us little candies after the exchange :) Super helpful spot for our upcoming trip to Asia! read more

I am so grateful my best friend found Mo, and located some Egyptian pounds for an upcoming trip of ours. I used to handle all of my foreign currency needs at the Sunset/Vine Wells Fargo near my office. Obviously, the days of needing yen, pesos, euros, British pounds, korunas, kronas, and even forints have been non existent for me - due to the pandemic. It wasn't until this past week when we thought we'd just easily pop into a Wells Fargo for a couple of orders for the both of us, did we realize that securing Egyptian pounds isn't the easiest thing to do around the LA area. That's when my bestie found A Plus, Mo didn't have a ton but we did buy everything he had and we are so grateful for it. Our transaction was super quick and very friendly. Mo wished us well, and had the kindest words and advice for our upcoming trip. If you are looking for foreign currency and your bank doesn't have it, do not hesitate to call A Plus. Thanks so much Mo! Made driving to the west side worth our wild. read more

Really friendly and interesting owner. I exchanged some yen I'd held onto since my trip in Jan 2020 (I'd expected to go back to Japan in 2021), but I realized it might be awhile before I would go again. Fair exchange rate. Nice little space. Good hours. read more

A Plus is definitely an A Plus class business, Mo is a responsible and respected member of the community. I have been using A Plus for years although I leave 20 miles away with options closer to go and exchange my money read more

I came here based on the yelp reviews and what a great experience. The owner helped me and he was such a sweet man. You can tell he loves what he does. Very professional, no hidden fees or gimmicks. Made you feel like family, gave me some tips for where I'm traveling to, will definitely be coming back here in the future for any exchange needs read more

Very professional treatment - no hidden cost and no tricks with a very good exchange rate. I will return! read more

Just purchased euros here and very happy with the experience! The lady helping me gave me smaller bills like I requested, and the conversion rate they offer was decent. .77 (instead of .81) + they don't charge a fee for converting. Would definitely come here again! read more

Nicest people you will ever do business with. I can't say enough good stuff about them . In all the time since I've been here they have made me feel Not just like I'm back home , but 1 better. Even though I never have needed to exchange money with them except one or two times in 10 years ,I know for a fact that they give the lowest exchange rates in town ,because of a person I know that worked at the city's weights and measures let me in on a "few things"he educated me on after his recent retirement. They don't mistreat anyone .Ive seen homeless being treated with the same respect as the Louise Vuitton purse packing diva .No one is better or worse than anyone else when doing biz with them. I could tell you stories of them going way beyond the imagination of customer service , but I will stop now as it will maybe not be believed. read more

Dropped in to exchange some currency. Service is good, and they are close by. Their buy/sell rates are competitive. I'd rather not have a transaction fee, but for the ease of their location, it's ok. read more

I came over here after seeing this place about two years ago heading to a dinner over at Border Grill across the street and my friend noticed the big 0% commissions neon sign. Considering most currency exchange places usually charge some kind of commission and that I ended up paying through the nose at a TD Canada Trust ATM last year, I decided to come here to A+ to get my Canadian loonies on the way to my annual sojourn to Toronto. Result? A lot slower than I would've liked. Took me 15 minutes to get my money in a hot (no AC) place. And there was a commission because they don't count Canada in the mix. There was only one guy there. I think he was some Indian or some similar foreigner who was a bit of a hot head. Then again, with no AC that might make sense. I still got my money and probably no better than doing it at the airport. I think the fee was four bucks since I was exchanging $100US. Actually got a little change back in US dollars and cents to even things up. Nice plus that it was right next to a free (in the daytime anyway) city parking lot. So at least my car stayed cool in the heat and I didn't have to pay for it. Just for my supposedly 0% commission. read more

Suite #403 Ask for Mo! He gives the best rates! I was going to take a trip to Italy and his rates were better than exchanging my money when I got there. He's a super nice and honest guy. I'll def be back! Thank you! read more

Went to this spot just a few hours ago. I read on yelp that some spot downtown was much better and was about to make the crazy trek from Venice to that side of LA when I ran out of time. A Plus had a slightly lower exchange and longer hours (open until 530 instead of 4.) The gentleman was really helpful and pleasant to chat with. This will be my go to spot the next time I travel abroad. read more

Awesome, efficient. Call ahead to save time. I used them for my honeymoon. They were very helpful. Euro to dollar read more

A Plus Foreign Currency Exchange - Currency Exchange Near Me - Santa Monica, California

I went there to exchange USD for GBP. I'm not very detailed, so I didn't check if their rates were better than other places. My friend told me they were and recommended this place, so I just took his words for it, so I can't comment on their rates. Their service was great. The guy at the window was very friendly and surely made me feel comfortable. I was very satisfied with it. I'll definitely be back! :) read more

Needed Euros and called the bank and other foreign exchanges. Banks charge fees plus a higher exchange rate. Other Currency exchangers charge a fee and modesty higher rate, plus did not have Euros in stock. A Plus Foreign Currency Exchange had Euros in Stock, charges no commission or fees and exchange rate was lower than others. Win Win. Service was courteous and swift. Win Plus they also have free 90 minute parking in the City Parking Structure above them. Win So a Win Win Win Win, As Arnold would say, I'll be back" read more

This was a great currency exchange place and easy to find!! I would highly reccomend going here when traveling abroad:) friendly and fast service! also, the price I got was on par with the bank and no service fee or waiting time! read more

Moe was kind and patient on the phone when I was checking rates. He also helped me once I arrived and I was able to change dollars for both British Pounds and Euros without a wait or any fees. Plus they have the best exchange rate I found on the west side of Los Angeles. Be sure you know they are on the 4th floor as I did not notice a directory in the lobby. Moe gave me the heads up prior to arriving. Even though it was a slog to get to from the South Bay, their rates saved me over $100 compared to my bank. I will do business here again! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would I normally don't write reviews, but my recent experience here has compelled me to alert everyone to an egregious error that NEVER should have happened. I suppose many will think that one star is harsh, and I may change this if they address the situation to my satisfaction. My wife is traveling in England as I write this and discovered that several of the 50-pound notes she received from this establishment are out of circulation and, therefore, worthless. It seems that these notes were taken out of circulation. You can't use them at all. They are demonetized. She found out while trying to make a purchase. It was too late to visit a bank and exchange the notes. I don't understand how a place that deals with foreign currency can not know a simple thing like this? How many other people have been put in this situation? I looked it up online and it seems that British pound notes are quite often removed from circulation and, unlike new designs in the United States, they become demonetized. http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/jan/16/houblon-50-note-withdrawn read more

Inconvenient location due to the never ending road work and garage renovation. After converting dollars to pesos I saw another location offering a way better rate (no fees). Do your research read more

They do charge a 2.5% "commission" or "fee" or whatever you want to call it on top of the "official" exchange rate according to my calculations when buying €800 (Euros). This rate may or may not be more for smaller / bigger amounts. This is how they make money. Get over it. Pretty decent compared to a lot of US banks like Wells Frakko or Scam of America :-) Better than a fellow exchange place like Wilshire Coin just a few blocks up in Santa Monica. read more

I went to this place to exchange Japanese yen to dollars and they gave me a better rate than the bank and without any hassle of having to have an account with the bank, etc etc. the guy was really friendly too. And if you park at the public parking next to this place you get 90 minutes free parking and taking the elevator on the left side of the building will get you right to this place. Highly recommend ! read more

Exchanged US dollars for Euros and even though they have no commission they adjust the rate slightly from what I found on OANDA but it is still better than other exchange offices. Located very conveniently near the parking garage on 4th near Broadway and I have a few minutes wait. I asked for smaller bills and the cashier was very nice and went into "the back" to locate them for me. Very accommodating. I recommend this place over the Foreign Currency Express downtown on Figueroa. read more

Definitely agree on them having the best exchange rates in the area. Was able to swap 1:1 CHF to USD in under 10 minutes. Other places going as far out as Santa Monica offered hundreds lower for the same amount. read more

The new location is so great. Went to change some rubles a while ago and got a good rate from moe (nice guy). Looking to go back soon!

I like this place for the location and the fact that they don't charge a fee. I've used it several times now.

This place is awesome. I needed Krona for a trip to Iceland and they ordered it and called me when it arrived. They also set it aside for me until I could pick it up. Apollonia and her colleague were super nice and I will definitely use them again for future travels. read more

Best exchange rates in the area! It was even better than the rate my bank was going to charge me for ordering in advance. You have to go to the fourth floor to find it but they don't charge you extra fees and the guy was super nice today. read more

This location is close by where I work. The transaction was fast and easy. There was only one person ahead of me at the time.

These people are so darned nice! My friend was going to Hong Kong, so I wanted to get her some HK dollars for her birthday. They were so helpful, even showing me different denominations of bills, so I could pick the prettiest! Super helpful, super nice, good rates. I went back before a trip to Europe, and their rate for Euros was WAY better than the other money exchange (I forget the name, it's in the SM mall). And, unlike the other exchange place, they don't charge a service fee. And, they are so helpful, friendly and nice. They have changed locations recently, and are now up a few stories from ground level, but don't let that deter you. They are still in biz, and awesome as ever. read more

Glad I called this place after the competition quoted fees and a worse rate. On exchanging Euro to Dollar no fee.

While they don't charge a commission up front to exchange money, they do manipulate the exchange rate a bit in order to turn a profit. I paid $1202 for GBP700, which was about the best I could have gotten at any of the places I checked (both here and in London), and comparable to what my credit card was giving. My ATM card gave me the best rate, though, about 4% better than this place. read more

Been using them for years since 2011! Very helpful and always nice to call ahead of time. Great place to do business with them! Cash only!!!

I googled the rate of JPY to USD, and the offer I was given over the phone was a scant twelve dollars less than the going rate, which was fine for how close it is to my house (and for how little I enjoy searching for deals). read more
