I am so grateful my best friend found Mo, and located some Egyptian pounds for an upcoming trip of ours. I came over here after seeing this place about two years ago heading to a dinner over at Border Grill across the street and my friend noticed the big 0% commissions neon sign. Considering most currency exchange places usually charge some kind of commission and that I ended up paying through the nose at a TD Canada Trust ATM last year, I decided to come here to A+ to get my Canadian loonies on the way to my annual sojourn to Toronto. Result? A lot slower than I would've liked. Took me 15 minutes to get my money in a hot (no AC) place. And there was a commission because they don't count Canada in the mix. There was only one guy there. I think he was some Indian or some similar foreigner who was a bit of a hot head. Then again, with no AC that might make sense. I still got my money and probably no better than doing it at the airport. I think the fee was four bucks since I was exchanging $100US. Actually got a little change back in US dollars and cents to even things up. Nice plus that it was right next to a free (in the daytime anyway) city parking lot. So at least my car stayed cool in the heat and I didn't have to pay for it. Just for my supposedly 0% commission. read more

Went to this spot just a few hours ago. I read on yelp that some spot downtown was much better and was about to make the crazy trek from Venice to that side of LA when I ran out of time. A Plus had a slightly lower exchange and longer hours (open until 530 instead of 4.) The gentleman was really helpful and pleasant to chat with. Other Currency exchangers charge a fee and modesty higher rate, plus did not have Euros in stock. Moe was kind and patient on the phone when I was checking rates. He also helped me once I arrived and I was able to change dollars for both British Pounds and Euros without a wait or any fees. Plus they have the best exchange rate I found on the west side of Los Angeles. Be sure you know they are on the 4th floor as I did not notice a directory in the lobby. If I could give zero stars, I would I normally don't write reviews, but my recent experience here has compelled me to alert everyone to an egregious error that NEVER should have happened. I suppose many will think that one star is harsh, and I may change this if they address the situation to my satisfaction. My wife is traveling in England as I write this and discovered that several of the 50-pound notes she received from this establishment are out of circulation and, therefore, worthless. It seems that these notes were taken out of circulation. You can't use them at all. They are demonetized. She found out while trying to make a purchase. It was too late to visit a bank and exchange the notes. I don't understand how a place that deals with foreign currency can not know a simple thing like this? How many other people have been put in this situation? They do charge a 2.5% "commission" or "fee" or whatever you want to call it on top of the "official" exchange rate according to my calculations when buying €800 (Euros). This rate may or may not be more for smaller / bigger amounts. This is how they make money. Get over it. Pretty decent compared to a lot of US banks like Wells Frakko or Scam of America :-) Better than a fellow exchange place like Wilshire Coin just a few blocks up in Santa Monica. read more

I went to this place to exchange Japanese yen to dollars and they gave me a better rate than the bank and without any hassle of having to have an account with the bank, etc etc. the guy was really friendly too. And if you park at the public parking next to this place you get 90 minutes free parking and taking the elevator on the left side of the building will get you right to this place. Exchanged US dollars for Euros and even though they have no commission they adjust the rate slightly from what I found on OANDA but it is still better than other exchange offices. Located very conveniently near the parking garage on 4th near Broadway and I have a few minutes wait. I asked for smaller bills and the cashier was very nice and went into "the back" to locate them for me. Very accommodating. These people are so darned nice! My friend was going to Hong Kong, so I wanted to get her some HK dollars for her birthday. They were so helpful, even showing me different denominations of bills, so I could pick the prettiest! Super helpful, super nice, good rates. I went back before a trip to Europe, and their rate for Euros was WAY better than the other money exchange (I forget the name, it's in the SM mall). And, unlike the other exchange place, they don't charge a service fee. And, they are so helpful, friendly and nice. While they don't charge a commission up front to exchange money, they do manipulate the exchange rate a bit in order to turn a profit. I paid $1202 for GBP700, which was about the best I could have gotten at any of the places I checked (both here and in London), and comparable to what my credit card was giving. My ATM card gave me the best rate, though, about 4% better than this place. read more

I was going on my first trip to Europe and see Paris. It amazed me that my local bank did not have Euros. They referred me to A+ Exchange in Santa Monica near 3rd st promenade. It was very easy to find A+ Exchange on the corner of 4th and Broadway. Parking is 2 hours free in structure # 5. I walked in and they had Euros available right there. Also there is no fee to exchange money. When I got to Paris, I realized the rate I received was much better at A+ Exchange. Also I should mention that the service was friendly and quick. read more
