The worst experience I have ever had with an alterations shop. I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in on the sides. I dropped the dress off on February 8th and requested a quote for how much it would cost for the alterations. I called the shop back on the 21st after never hearing from anybody about a quote and they stated they hadn't started on the dress but that it should be ready on 24th. I called on the 24th and yet again they were just starting on the dress and still could not give me a quote. I decided to go to the shop on the 25th to find out what was going on, and I find that my dress is indeed finished but that they are charging me $125!!! I was shocked. After being in several wedding and having my own wedding where my bridesmaids needed their dresses altered, I knew $125 was way too much to be charging! I argued my point and ask that I could speak to the owner of the shop or who did my alterations, but the employees "didn't know her phone number" and after a few minutes of looking back through the caller id on the shop phone, called the owner. Of course, she did not answer her phone. So, I decided to leave my dress over the weekend, now only a week away from the wedding, and come back to the shop the following Monday to speak to the owner. When I arrived on Monday to pick up the dress, I was met with the most unpleasant attitude from Gloria Sanders, the shop owner. I tried to explain why I felt she was unfairly charging me and she looked me square in the face and told me "That is what you are going to pay!" I also asked why I was never called and given a quote for the dress, and she said I should have called to find out what it was going to cost and when I said I had, more than once, she couldn't give me an straight answer. Just that it wasn't her responsibility.
Whatever you do, do not give Gloria your business. She will over charge you and give you horrible service!! Save yourself time, money, and headache, and have your alterations done somewhere...anywhere, but this terrible shop! read more
