We couldn't decide on food so we opted to split the two "sampling" options and were not disappointed. The stars were the cheese curds, pretzel bites, turkey and rib - wow! It would be hard to come back and not get the same thing.

Everything else I had stacks up too! There are four styles of American BBQ. I would say they fall into these categories. Carolina's, Memphis, Texas, Kansas City. If there are others in your opinion, I don't care. That's all I believe in! My favorite by far is Texas. I love a good slathered in only salt and pepper, fatty side sliced, smoked for the perfect time, juicy brisket. My boy Blake has gotten it right! The setting is perfect, almost like the old mill was built for a different purpose that no one knew yet, so long ago. The decor, infused with days of the old, new interior additions, and the pictures of all of the pitmasters that have inspired him is so well done. We planned a drive from Memphis to Kentucky and went a specific route around having lunch here. I have been trying to get a visit since he was in the old trailer down the road. My only visit to Martin before, he was closed. Our server was like Southern Sweet Tea. Just dripping with sugary sweet goodness. She was a joy in my life for this great food moment! I should probably get to the food now I guess... I was here for the sampler platter. I knew that back in 2021! I didn't even need a menu. My kid is strange and got French Toast Sticks off of the Brunch Menu. I will say they looked great and came with a bad ass line up of dunking condiments. She ate almost all of it. She did also eat all of my sausage and Mac & Cheese too. C got the smoked chicken with Alabama White Sauce, added a sausage link, and had Brussel sprouts and deviled eggs with it. She fell in love with the white sauce at Big Bob Gibsons and seeks it out now. She loved it! She hates my BBQ quests most of the time but she even said we gotta come back here!! Win!! I got the sampler and loved all of it. ALL OF IT! Every bite was better than the last. It was all that I had hoped that it would be! It was like Texas, meets Memphis, and nothing could be better in my opinion. I loved his sauces, I loved his sides, I loved everything about this place! The only possible way that it could be better was if it were free. I cannot wait to return! '25 - 67/111

Tiny Baker - Another score! This time I'm trying (for myself) a lemon cupcake, and I'm taking more fudge to different friends and businesses.

Some of my in-laws picked up a very large order from this bakery to bring to a family reunion we…read morehad in the Martin area. The order consisted of a box of cookies and two boxes of cupcakes. I didn't accompany them to pick up the goodies so I can't speak to atmosphere or service, but I didn't hear any complaints from any of the family other than a touch of confusion around pick-up time, so that's good. I didn't try the cupcakes so they may have been excellent. I will say there was an impressive variety and they appeared beautifully decorated. I'm more of a cookie person, so that's what I had. There wound up being an overabundance of desserts at the function, so I got to sample all the flavors of cookies after having two there and taking two home to eat the next day. These are fairly small cookies, a little smaller than the palm of my hand, so it's easy to get a good sampling. My favorites were the peanut butter and the snickerdoodle. The snickerdoodle in particular had that pleasant chewiness that cream of tartar imparts in a good snickerdoodle. The oatmeal raisin cookie was just alright. I didn't like the chocolate chip cookie. To me, it tasted like the ratio of brown sugar was off -- it didn't have that pleasant, almost caramely taste most chocolate chip cookies have. All of the cookies had, to some extent, a problem with...let's say crumbliness. I like both chewy cookies and crispy/crunchy cookies, but I don't like cookies that fall apart as you eat them, and these definitely did. The peanut butter held up the best out of all of them, which is one reason why I think it's one of the better ones. Overall, this is a solid enough option for sweets and treats. They can certainly accommodate very large orders, which we appreciated for our gathering.
