I contacted Don via text on October 15 just to check the status of the work. His reply was simply, "Starting on it next week." I initiated contact once again on November 4 and was told "I'm starting on it tomorrow." As a result, I picked up my guitar that day and decided to go elsewhere. So, why three stars... I have no doubt that Don is a very capable luthier. The problems are simply centered around the lack of communication on his part regarding progress, or lack thereof. I was told two months. At the two month mark, I was told next week. Nearly three weeks after that I was told tomorrow. As a new customer, how am I supposed to feel? When I picked up the guitar he stated, "I told you it would be several months." The truth is he said two months. Communication is everything. This is especially true when one is dealing with a new client. I have entrusted this person with an instrument that has been a part of my life for nearly three decades. An other reviewer mentioned the condition of his shop. Trust me, I had reservations when I saw the condition. I wondered how he could complete any work in that space, but after talking with him I felt confident that he could do good work. A simple text stating, hey, this is taking a bit longer than expected...,or hey, just wanted to update you on status of the instrument is all that was needed to put my mind at ease.

From start to finish I noticed that the workbench he uses isn't clean (wood debris/nails/), the way he handled my guitar wasn't careful and in the end I leave the place with damage on my guitar. Now granted this is a satin finish guitar and is susceptible to dings etc but a professional should ALWAYS be careful and respectful to an instrument. He was at best rushing the work. I'm leaving this review to either prevent this from happening to other guitars or to make sure you tell don to be careful and handle your guitar with respect. I reached out to him about my concerns and he says he can't see the dings. At that point all I could tell him was to respect himself and the good integrity and good will he's built up with his customers because these things go a long way. I hope I saved someone from experiencing what I've experienced. My advice? Look elsewhere.

Paul is a great piano teacher and friend over the past 8 years. He has taught myself and my three…read morekids (they are now all high schoolers) over this time period and we can now play pretty much any piano piece out there. His teaching method fits our philosophy that music should be fun and I feel his greatest gift is that he customized the teaching to our needs. The first few years was from playing pieces from standard books but he made our experience even better by allowing us to choose a "fun song, ie any song we wanted to play" and he integrated that into the session. I feel that he can teach the full spectrum of very regimented/complex classical pieces all the way up to current pop songs. Timing is very important in piano and now that I am eight years into it, I appreciate why Paul was so adamant about timing. Another lesson I've learned from Paul is that piano, or music in general, can fill your soul with much more than you could ever dream. At the higher levels, you can add emotion and your own personality into your playing (while still following the rules of timing) and start to compose some pieces. Believe it or not, but Paul has somehow made even Hanon/scale exercises and timing exercise fun because he picks and chooses only those exercises pertinent to your skill level and type of music you want to play ( I can see how concert pianist can burn out from learning hundreds of exercises when most may not be so pertinent for contemporary music). My family loves Paul and his wife April and I highly recommend his music studio no matter what age, experience or talent. Have no fear.... This review applies to gliga.com and violinslover.com -- the Las Vegas based US distributor for Gliga instruments. I have owned a Gliga cello and a Gliga Gama violin and both were great instruments in terms of sound and looks. Those instruments went on to other homes and I wanted to replace the Gliga Gama violin. I ordered from violinslover.com and got an automated order confirmation but no indication on when/how it would be shipped out. I sent 3 emails and tried calling but their phone only goes through to voicemail. EVENTUALLY, the main point of contact for Gliga USA/violinslover.com emailed me back to tell me the violin was going through the final setup and would be shipped the next day and she would send a tracking day. 2 days later an no additional word. I sent a followup email asking for the tracking number ... again, no response. Several days later, she sent a tracking number without acknowledging the delay. I get the violin and immediately upon taking it out of the box, my face falls because it is an ugly pumpkin orange that screams "cheap student violin" -- despite the fact that it is from their advanced Gama line. In addition, the wood on the edges of the top is visibly darker (not due to varnish but a seam indicating mismatched wood. It is very noticeable because of the uniformity of the orange color. Also, for what it is worth, despite purchasing the violin "new" in 2026, the label states that it was made in 2018 so clearly not "new stock". Supposedly there is a 14-day return window and I immediately emailed the day after delivery to request a return. but I can't get anyone to respond to my emails and, as I've said, they don't answer their phones or voicemails. I'm very disappointed and have no legal recourse. Will never order another Gliga again.
