Most of their wines are from a single grape. This is a Barbera wine... light body red.

This is a family owned and operated vineyard. They grow all of the grapes they use for their wines and have been doing it for over 100 years. The current wine maker and general manager of the winery is James Jordan. We did the wine tasting with his mother, Judy, and it was a great experience. She is very knowledgeable and friendly, and made the whole wine tasting experience very enjoyable. Most of their wines are made from a single grape, except for their Cabernet which is a Cabernet Sauvignon blend. You can only buy their wines at the vineyard, but they will also take orders over the phone and ship them to you. Their number is 559-275-1936. The tasting room is open from Monday thru Saturday, from 10 am to 4 pm. My favorite wines were the Sangiovese and the Cabernet. Great place to visit if you are in the Fresno area. Cheers!

Such a beautiful, family owned winery. The wine is unlike anything I've ever tasted on the East coast. The owner even gave us a tour of the place for free! Super nice people and lovely wine- highly recommend!

Had the best time with Jim the winemaker, he's so personable you'll love him!. The wine is wonderful and the conversation was great. Put on your list to stop by on your next visit out.

Nice winery, the owner (guide) was absolutely fantastic. It is a small local winery, so started early 1900's. Very good wines.

My wife and I stumbled across this little gem. Jim the owner gave us a little tour and we tasted some of their wine. I love Shiraz wine but I really liked their wine. I am not a wine connoisseur but the 4 I tasted were all very good. My wife is not a big red wine fan but loved it also. The owner is very down to earth and a kick. We are planning on coming back next time we are town.

I always enjoy this place. A nice intimate tasting room. The wine is different than the surrounding wineries in the area (in a good way!)

Great wine tasting experience, this small local winery is super cute. You have to try their Burgundy wine, it has this fun kick at the end.

I've been to wineries before but this is probably the best one I've been to yet. A friend rented…read moreout the place for a birthday. It was nice because driving into here they had a sign in the front saying closed for a private event. So we had the whole winery to ourselves, felt very intimate. 3 Oaks was super accommodating with all the cute customization. They had one wine bottle with a happy birthday sticker of my friend's name on it. There was a hanged chalk sign at the bar with a happy birthday message, and the wine tasting menu also had a happy birthday message on there with his name that we got to keep. The winery itself is medium size. It looks like it's someone's back yard because there was a house with a pool and the rest of the land is the vineyard. They had so many chickens walking around. Our host Chris, told us that we the head leader chicken was name Marshmallow which was so cute. You park in this rock lot and the walk to the winery which is very close. We got to sit under the shade during the sun light because our reservation was 6:30pm. Although, it was very hot to sit outside for the summer time. There were some ceiling fans to help us stay cool in the 100 degree weather. They offered ice cold water cups as well. We were able to bring our own food and cake for the event. They had so many different types of vineyards with signs on them. It was very pretty. The barn and the seating areas had a cute hang out charm to it. Chris was wonderful with his hosting skills and his service was above and beyond my expectations. He was very personable and nice. He helped us put the food out on the table, placed utensils around, and took a bunch of pictures for our group. He also was very informative about all the wines and ingredients. He was pretty funny knowing some random facts too. I enjoyed talking to him. He even gave us some tips about taking photos during the sunset for golden hour. My friend ended buying a bottle and I believe it was $32. All the wines tasted delicious. The unique flavors tasted rich. My favorite was the Yacamastu Tempranillo for red and 2023 Pammie Grigio for white. Too bad we couldn't taste Rosé wines cuz they were sold out. The tasting itself was $35/person which was not bad. It was my boyfriend's first time wine tasting and he enjoyed too. Bathrooms were nice and clean just very hot. Saw they have board games, nice lounge areas, and merch shop. It's nice that they hold even other events like yoga. I definitely would come back to this vineyard. I thought it was sweet that the owner requested for our group photos thank you!

I didn't take a lot of pictures because I was just trying to enjoy being out of the house. There…read morewas 3 of us and it was our first time being there and I had never heard of it until my friend said she found them on instagram. The place is really cute and super tiny compared to a lot of wineries in madera. It has a cute bar area with really nice chairs and a little area to buy books and market items. We sat down at the bar area and didn't get greeted right away it took a few minutes it seemed like they were overwhelmed with all of the people there. We wanted 3 tastings in the hopes to have a charcuterie board and get a bottle of wine if we liked one of them. While sitting there a couple who had a baby sat at the bar and both were drinking wine (sorry I don't think it's okay) I understand parents need a day or night out (I'm a parent too) but babies don't belong at wineries or breweries. It's just how I feel. While sitting at the bar area the owners and whoever else the ladies were to the establishment didn't have it together they all kept overstepping one another and they looked and seemed overwhelmed. And they kept talking about it in front of us. I found out the new owners have only been there 6 months. So I understand they're still trying to figure things out. But it did take awhile to get a new pour, so I finally asked after 3 tastings if we can buy a charcuterie board, one of the ladies told me they don't have anymore they were sold out. We were bummed because we were hungry, and they didn't have any snacks to buy. So we were on our last tastings and out of nowhere a board appears and was now being bought from the couple with the baby who also got to sample the slushie they serve as well. We left unhappy and not understanding why they just lied to us about not having a board for sale. The wine was great but how we were treated compared to the people around us not so much. It's so unfortunate to like something so much but the service that's given to you and different for others is not okay. I love trying new places but sometimes it's not what's it's cut out to be.

I recently put together a fairly substantial road trip to see a bunch of California I'd never…read moreproperly explored, including a handful of stops, like this one, to see things that had gone on mental my list to see "eventually" like a decade ago, that I decided to cross off as many of as I could, at once. Honestly, I didn't entirely know what to expect - I'd seen pictures of the place, but pictures don't do the *scale* of the place justice. Indeed, having now taken the tour of what is left, the most mindboggling thing I learned about it is, by the time anyone had started working to preserve what was left, a majority of the land Forestiere had converted to his home, had long been sold to developers, who just filled it all back in. It was originally even several times larger! Anyway, the part I did already know, but it was still impressive to see in person: from ground level, it hardly looks like anything, just a standard small orchard, if that. But as soon as you descend, you can see, and *feel*, instantly why he built it. Unlike the sprawling Winchester house I originally had mentally compared it to, which was built by a rich person slowly going insane, in this case, it was built by someone with fairly modest wealth (indeed, when he started, no wealth whatsoever), just loads of time and the willingness to learn how to construct and then, for the rest of his life, continuously improve, a wonderfully air conditioned house using no electricity (it was a hundred million degrees outside the weekend we were there, and a perfect temperature once the tour started), that everything he built, was built to make it a more comfortable place for himself to live and grow citrus, as he slowly McGuyvered himself a megamansion out of nothing but primitive tools, a couple donkeys, and decades worth of time and effort. Super cool! (Well, we did learn, eventually he realized what he was building could be turned into a hotel, and had started working on that when he died. It's too bad he didn't complete it - I'd have loved to stay in that hotel!) It's even more impressive that, while it eventually turned into quite a home, he *started* digging it as a temporary fix to try to grow his citrus, after he moved to Fresno hoping to farm citrus, so when he discovered the topsoil sucked too much to grow citrus trees, he dug deeper down, planted citrus there, and built an underground citrus grove so successfully, with fruit of all shapes and sizes, that a majority are still the same citrus trees growing there now - and they look *seriously* juicy. I just wish they could sell them to us when they were ripe - I wanted to eat one! (I asked - they aren't legally allowed to sell produce to consumers themselves. Every once in a while some local business will buy produce and make snacks they can sell themselves, but mostly they just have to let the produce fall naturally and decompose back into the soil.) I wouldn't feel the need to come back now that I've seen it - it's not like anything is likely to *change* at this point (unless maybe they eventually could get a license to sell the citrus grown there?) - but it was definitely worth making the detour to see the place finally. p.s. Parking was not *nearly* as much of a big deal as I'd worried it would be. The website indicates that due to construction on the next big street over, it's street parking, so get there early. Turns out the street they said to park in, is basically a glorified alley - admittedly, we were the first tour of the day, it might get busier later, but there was *tons* of free parking. I was mostly worried about our car being broken into, being in what is now a fairly sketchy-looking neighborhood with zero foot traffic most of the time. It was fine, though, obviously.

My family came here to visit not knowing what to expect. It was a great experience learning how Forestiere built these tunnels so intentionally and with innovation. The guided tour is about 60 minutes and includes a lot of walking with some stairs, so be prepared with comfy shoes. However, there's also benches in the tunnels if you need a quick seat. The tour ends in the grand ballroom which connects to the gift shop. There you can find citrus sorbet made from the fruits of this garden. I had to give that a taste and it was sweet and zesty. I went home with some postcards to send to friends too. This place is also California State National Landmark No. 916! You must add it to your bucket list of adventures.
