Trusting someone else with your child is not easy, but we chose High Five based upon…read morerecommendations from our fellow Sunnysiders and have been happy with them thus far. During the first few weeks, the staff provided helpful feedback and guidance on how to help our child adjust. The teachers also use an app to provide updates on your child's day which includes logs of food intake, potty and pictures/videos of their daily activities. The number of photos can vary depending on how busy they are but usually there's at least one per day. Activities include painting, puzzles, circle time with singing, amongst others. I have been impressed with how creative the activities are. The class size seems to be between 8-12 on a given day, with about 3 classes and about two teachers per class. Morning and afternoon snack are included in tuition, and parents provide lunch. There is an infant rate and toddler rate (after two years old), with the toddler rate being less expensive. The administrative team is very responsive, especially Jack, who has even responded to us even after business hours. Tuition payments are on a monthly basis via the app. I do wish there was some sort of orientation process for newcomers (caveat: we joined mid year during the pandemic so not a typical year). Also, wish that the class schedule was shared on the app so I know what the children were up to each week. But compared to these more minor things - my child seems happy, healthy and is developing new skills which is most important. My son was always happy to be dropped off and happy when I picked him up. It's rare to find a daycare in the city that takes the kids outside, and I REALLY appreciated that she has an outdoor space for when the weather is warm. She makes the kids homemade food, and sends many photos during the day. She also does the most adorable and fun holiday celebrations with the kids and sent home really generous holiday gifts for my son, which was such a kind and beautiful surprise! She is extremely communicative, answers questions quickly and sends updates frequently. She is very understanding of changes to our schedule, if we were running late, wanted to pick him up early, or traveling out of town one week, she was always very accommodating. On a personal note, I did wish there were more opportunities to meet other families and kids that attended the daycare - I never really knew who my son spent time with during the day, and was hoping to build our community in the neighborhood as a new, first-time mom. You are also not allowed to go into the daycare room - she takes the kids at the door, and brings them out at the end of the day. We did have a tour of the room before he began attending, so we got to see the room in person at that time, but after that, you never really get to see where or how your child spends their time during the day apart from the photos she sends. She makes home cooked meals that the kids love. My daughter is very excited to go there every day. I'm impressed with everything she learns and Angela sends wonderful pictures every week of how my daughter is engaging. The hours are super flexible. As a full-time working mom, I often need help for extra hours. I HIGHLY recommend Angela's daycare. It's a comfortable, safe, enriching place for children.
