I really wanted to love this agency but it didn't end that way. I reached out, did a 10-minute intro call with Lucy, then a 30-minute interview which went amazingly well. I answered all the "scenario" questions which Lucy was impressed with, and it all seemed great. I then was scheduled to speak with Jo, and that also went well. I was told when Lucy gets back into work the next day, we would be able to move forward. I was excited! Then a day later Lucy sends me a message saying they would not be able to move forward with me. It just made no sense. I have over 10 years of experience, clean background check, college-educated, speak a different language, have worked with all different age groups, have traveled with families, have worked with HP families as well as high net worth, so it made no sense. To anyone looking, just be aware. I just wanted to tell my story and wish others the best of luck with this agency. P.S Gabby is my middle name, Sophia is my first. read more

We were in a bind after our first nanny that we had found on our own, through word of mouth, turned out to be a horrible fit. We were nervous about putting our family through a second problematic nanny, so we decided to forgo word of mouth and hire a nanny agency. We needed to quickly find a good nanny that would fit our growing family. Jo was on top of it. She took the time to understand what we were looking for, quickly presented us with nannies that fit what we wanted, and asked for feedback after each interview we had with a nanny so she would know how to tweak her recommendations. Jo was incredibly responsive, respectful, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this agency and Jo. We hired our nanny through Jo 11 months ago and she continues to work with us. We are thrilled with our nanny and the seamless process of finding our incredible nanny through this agency. read more

Nannies by Noa is an absolutely FABULOUS agency! President Jo Barrow was selected for the stellar award of "Nanny of the Year" by the International Nanny Association and is a mom herself. Having been on both sides, she is gracious, intuitive, very careful and gifted in family/nanny matchmaking. As a former teacher and mom myself, I greatly appreciated the tireless effort Jo exerted into helping me land the ideal position with a happy family! This agency will support you in every possible way. I have recommended them highly to both parents searching for their ideal nanny, as well as to other qualified professional career nannies that meet Nannies by Noa's fair and selective criteria. Nannies by Noa is a fantastic agency. I have been working with Noa and her team since September of 2013; I have found both short-term and long-term positions through Nannies by Noa, and each one has been a positive, enjoyable experience. It is Noa and her team's utmost priority that caretaker, parents, and children are a cohesive fit; that the caretaker is fully aware of family rules and parenting ethos; and that children have an engaging, educational experience with their caretakers. Noa and her team have a thorough, comprehensive selection process for caretakers, which ensures that each person selected will be the best possible match for families seeking child care. I believe that Nannies by Noa is revolutionizing child care in New York by creating a new gold standard for both families and caretakers. Families who utilize Nannies by Noa can be sure that each caretaker is an educated, trustworthy professional, who is wholly dedicated to the development and growth of their children. Caretakers, in turn, have a plethora of job opportunities to choose from, and are well-represented and cared for by Noa and her staff. I highly recommend Nannies by Noa to families seeking childcare and caretakers who are seeking families to work with. read more

As first time parents attempting to navigate the competitive world of hiring a nanny for our child in a new city, we invested our trust (and thousands of dollars) in Nannies by Noa expecting to be taken care of. Instead, our experience left us without a nanny and feeling deeply taken advantage of. A warning to all potential first time clients, A vital detail that Nannies by Noa is cadgey about: Their hefty agency fee which is a percentage of nanny's YEARLY salary (which is paid up front) is NOT a guarantee for Nannie's yearly employment. We enlisted the help of Nannies by Noa because they promote that they only work with "career Nannie's", professionals interested in long term employment which is why we were comfortable paying this fee instead of hiring a random part time babysitter. However to our surprise, our nanny put her notice in just days after the 90 day clause in the contract, precisely when Nannies by Noa is no longer responsible for finding us a replacement. When we brought this to the owners attention, instead of being met with understanding and compassion as we had been treated with before, we were met with an e-mail that was defensive, self-justifying and dogmatic. We were informed that we'd have to pay the agency fee all over again. Thousands and thousands of dollars. Our budget was for 1 year, not for 3 months of work so that wasn't an option for us. I feel responsable to warn all of you who are in the fence of investing. We appreciate that situations change, maybe nanny's intentions were to stay with us for the year, maybe they weren't. Regardless, if Nannie's by Noa claims this to be a "rare situation", they (in a show of good faith and good business) should have offered to find us a replacement - two things they are clearly not interested in. I'm sure they will defend themselves in their response below as they did in their email to us. We know that many of you reading this are in the same position so please be mindful of this advantageous agency loophole. You're better off finding someone through referrals or Facebook parenting groups. read more

Nannies by Noa was my absolute favorite agency to work with while I lived in New York City. Jo was always very quick to respond to emails and very dedicated to finding the right fit for me not just to find me any position. I have worked with many different agencies in New York and Los Angeles and by far this was my favorite agency to work with. She found me an amazing position that I was lucky to have and if I ever find myself back in New York they will be the first call I make. Thank you Nannies by Noa! read more

Jo and Nannies by Noa are fantastic. As an executive recruiter myself, I know how important it is to find the right fit for both sides, especially when hiring for such an important role within a family. Jo always keeps that top of mind, while making sure that candidates meet all of a client's criteria, no matter how specific. We had a very long list of MUST haves, and Jo didn't waste our time encouraging us to meet candidates who were even a stretch. She is incredibly attentive, thorough and simply lovely all around, and her many years of personal experience as a nanny herself make her the perfect person to help you find your perfect nanny. We love Nannies by Noa! read more

I recently read a review on how horrible this service was but I figured, why not try it anyways because that person could just be wrong. I will be as honest as possible. Noa does a decent job at responding to the emails, applications. When I sent my resume, I got a fast response back. However when I had to choose an interview time, I never got confirmation until a day before the interview which kept me on the edge a little. The reason I was on edge was because I was left wondering if I even had an interview that day or not and I can't plan anything because I might have an interview so it was a little hard just not getting a fast response on the confirmation of the interview. I liked the application process because it was detailed. The interview was horrible, I walked in to find out a young teenager was going to interview me, which was fine because she seemed nice. I was expecting more professionalism from the interviewee. I was expecting questions about my experience, what my hobbies are, just questions to get to know me personally as a nanny. My interview was five minutes. The questions asked were, "How many kids are you comfortable watching, are you working right now, and did you graduate college?" Those are all questions on the application already and I was hoping they would have looked at my resume or something to already know this information. That was it, my interview was done and she said they would be in contact within 1-5 days. I email Noa just to follow up and she politely tells me I am not fit for their company. I'm not upset I just like getting feedback so I know what to do in the future. I ask her to explain. She emails back, it's your personality. With this email, I'm slightly offended because I'm like, did I do something wrong? I'm a pretty nice person. (haha) I emailed back because I don't believe you can get to know someone within five minutes of asking them three questions in an interview. The interviewee had no idea on what questions to ask me about my experience, she was inexperienced. Noa then emails back saying my resume isn't impressive and I don't have experience in teaching, working with special kids, or working at camps. I start to laugh after reading this email because at this point I am so stunned because if the interviewee would have asked, she would have known that I did have experience working with special kids and teaching. Noa did offer to send a second interviewee to me but seriously why would I want to work for a company like this. Overall, I'm not mad I didn't get any jobs from Nannies by Noa, I just don't like how unprofessional they are with their staff. To have me waste my time and not even take the interview seriously, it's upsetting. To ridicule me as a person through emails, of course I will stick up for myself because I know my strengths and capabilities. Just save your time and find a nannying job through Sittercity or Care or other nannying services. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I went through. It's a waste of time. read more

I have not had a good experience with Nannies by Noa. I sent in my resume for a position and was contacted right away by Noa. I then had a phone interview and then a Skype interview with one of her recruiters and after that, I never heard back from them. I was told by the recruiter that she was going to put in her recommendation for me and that I'd hear back from someone and I never did. I sent multiple emails and made multiple phone calls and never heard a thing until yesterday (making it over 4 weeks after my Skype interview). I had reached out on the website again and was emailed back saying they had no history of my information. Seriously? I was then told to email Noa personally and she asked for me to re-send my resume (which I did) and then I never heard from her again. I don't know any agency that runs their business like this. I have worked with two other agencies in NY which are AMAZING but this one is just awful. I have over 8 years of experience and have worked with a high profile family and was looking for a new position but I will not be attempting to work with them again. They need some help with communication, professionalism and organization because they clearly lack in that department. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The application was incredibly thorough and time-consuming, but worst of all, the experience was a complete waste of time. I was never placed or matched up with a family by Nannies by Noa. read more

Working for Nannies by Noa has been a really wonderful experience! Through the company, I was connected with an amazing, young family that I sit for several days a week. Nannies by Noa is the cream of the crop when it comes to New York City's nanny agencies. True to its ambitious NYC roots, NbN was founded by an incredibly smart and savvy teenage mogul, and is now being run by its fabulous CEO! These two women are accomplishing what other agencies accomplish with three times the work force, and they are doing it in the most kind, flexible, patient, understanding, and supportive way possible. I have had the pleasure of getting to know them, mostly through finding placement for my own childcare career, and I would, without doubt, prioritize their agency over others in the city. Do not waste your time with the bigger agencies who are only looking to place people for a quick match; this team takes the time to listen to your needs, wants, ideals, and deal breakers! Together, with Founder Noa Mintz' youthful wisdom and maturity beyond her years, and CEO Jo Barrow's inspirational approach and experience, a balance is struck in which everyone's needs are met. I have always felt that I am in the best of hands with Nannies by Noa, and have no hesitations recommending them to everyone I meet who is looking for NYC childcare needs. read more
