I contacted Two Men and A Truck in early June to schedule their help with my move from 989 Green St., Portsmouth, VA to 901 W. Ocean View Ave., Apt. 2, Norfolk, VA. We scheduled them to arrive to help us move on 24 June 2012. They were to arrive at 9:30 a.m. To confirm this appointment, we put down a $150.00 deposit via credit card. On 23 June, we received a phone call asking us to confirm that we still wanted Two Men & A Truck to arrive at 9:30 a.m. on 24 June. We confirmed. On 24 June, the movers from Two Men and A Truck never arrived. At approximately 10:00 a.m., we began calling the company's listed telephone number (757.464.6683). They never answered the telephone. We waited all day, and they never arrived. We called approximately 20 times, and they never answered or returned our calls. Then, on the morning of 25 June, someone from their office called, apologized, and said that they would come and move our furniture that morning. When we asked about a refund or a price reduction, we were told that they would decide on all that after the move was complete. Lacking better options, my girlfriend decided to skip work for the 25th (a loss of approximately $200) and agreed for Two Men & A Truck to come and move our furniture. Two Men & A Truck arrived to complete the move at approximately 10:00 a.m. on 25 June. Their employees did not bring moving pads, and so my blankets and pillows were used to protect the furniture, instead. They completed the move by the early afternoon on the 25th and billed me a total of $385.00 ($150.00 deposit and $160.00 for the actual move). They agreed to deduct $75.00 from the price, and we paid the remaining $310.00 in full via credit card. Upon further thought, we did not feel that this was fair for several reasons. First, they stood us up, not meeting their obligation, and failed to answer their telephone or return our calls to update us about their inability to perform the service we'd requested. Additionally, they moved our furniture on a weekday instead of a weekend, extending the duration of the move due to additional traffic and costing my girlfriend a day of work. Finally, when they did arrive to do the job for which they were hired, they did not come equipped with the standard tools required to perform that job. We contacted Two Men and A Truck beginning on 29 June to share with them our dissatisfaction and to ask for a partial refund, and we were told to call back at another time because the boss was too busy. We eventually called about six times during between the 29th of June and 13 July. Finally, today (13 July) we were informed that Two Men and A Truck had decided to offer us a discount of 15% on a subsequent move. This "discount" is worthless because (obviously) we will never give our business to this company again. In short, throughout the time we've interacted with Two Men and A Truck, they've conducted themselves in an utterly unprofessional manner and treated my girlfriend and I as second-class citizens, though we paid in full and have treated them with the utmost respect throughout this process. read more

I had a good experience with Two Men and a Truck for my move out of a 2 bedroom apartment into a larger house. Terry was super nice and helped me understand their fees and what to expect during the process. The movers were a bit late showing up and I had to call in. I found out that someone was supposed to have called me and that the guys were running behind on another move. Once they showed up, however, I was super impressed with the team. They worked fast - you pay by the hour - and were efficient in getting our things moved. The head mover had control over the process and did a good job directing his guys. Once they were at the new house, the carefully and quickly got my furniture inside and were careful not to dirty the rugs or damage anything. All-in-all, I would say it was a good experience and would recommend using this local company for a local move. I have used other movers before and had horrible experiences and this was much, much different. read more

David Moore is the owner of the company, he and his employees made our move a breeze! Not only did they pack all of our goods they also provided amazing service. All of our goods arrived as promised in perfect condition and I felt like we were part of the family... I had contacted several other large companies before we found A Mover, however, they all contract with other companies and you have no idea who you are dealing with. I was also told by two of the National companies that their truck would be weighed before and after it was loaded (red flag). My cost for the move might then go up due to the weight! I had read the nightmare reviews on the subject of price changing. The price was extremely reasonable with A Mover and in most cases it was 2 thousand dollars less! Our quote from David was exactly what we paid. My family and I would highly recommend David and his company, they were truly a blessing to my family!! read more

Great experience with Two Men and a Truck in Virginia Beach - aka A Mover. I was a little leary because of mixed reviews about this moving company. They moved us earlier this week and they were great. The office staff called the day before to confirm the time and location. The movers showed up right on time. The two moving guys were professional and efficient - and very polite. And more importantly - they were very careful with our stuff. I think there might be other companies with a similiar name and maybe that is why they get the mixed reviews. I think this local company just changed their name to something like "A Mover" to avoid confusion with the other company but if you Google "two men and a truck shell Shell Rd Virginia Beach" you get the right company. WOW what an amazing experience with David and the rest of the crew. Due to unforeseen circumstances they had to move us in the apartment and out within 3 days and both time they did an exceptional job and we are talking a third floor apartment with no elevator in the middle of the summer...yup amazing.... David and his movers did an excellent job packing our 26 foot Penske truck. We had to downsize because we were moving to a smaller home in San Diego. My son and I drove the truck across country, and when we unloaded the truck in Oceanside, Ca everything was in perfect shape!! We were amazed. When our movers didn't show up we called A Movers right away and David was more than willing to come the next day and load up our moving truck. They showed up the next morning on time and had everything loaded in a couple of hours. They charged by the truck and not by the hour. They worked 7 hours to get me moved and took time to wrap everything in blankets. They loaded the truck so nothing would get damaged.
