My wife and I recently bought a house and were looking to do an extensive remodel before we moved in, including all new flooring, interior paint, 3 bathrooms (including master down to studs), kitchen (down to studs), a new pantry, and refaced cabinets in laundry room and hallway. We researched 4 different contractors sourced through Home Advisors and ultimately settled on A-List. We ultimately went with them based on their professionalism, their detailed estimate, a weekly schedule, and their thoughtful POV on the changes we were considering. Once the job kicked off, David was our project manager and we also dealt with Niv on occasion. David was exceptional in his communication and throughout the nearly 4-month project he always made himself available for any questions and concerns including going with us to pick out materials. When issues did arise (which they always do), David was quick to address them to our satisfaction. What we really appreciated was that while we had a good sense of what we wanted to do with the kitchen and the master bathroom, A-List brought in a designer that worked closely with us to visualize a full rendering of a final product that went a long way towards helping my wife and I make sure we were getting what we wanted and everyone was on the same page. While the completion date was slightly delayed from the original communication, Ben stepped in immediately made it right which we were grateful for since we were still in the middle of COVID. There were minimal surprises during the job itself and ultimately the whole project came in on the budget they originally quoted us (outside of some minor changes we requested). Now that we moved in and have had some time to experience our new home, my wife and I absolutely love the professional and competent work that A-List did. The full remodel turned out fabulous and we couldn't be happier with our new home. We are demanding clients and A-List worked hard to earn our satisfaction, which they did. A super easy company to work with that did a reasonably priced remodel of my bathroom down to the studs. They rebuilt a walk in shower, installed new tile and vanity and put in all new tile, flooring and drywall. Ever since I moved in , I had wanted to re-do the bathroom and didn't have the money for it. So after hearing about some work that another unit in the building had and the good experience that they had with their contractors I decided to get an estimate and I was glad that I did. It was very reasonably priced and I am very happy with the results, both the appearance and the function. They organized everything with the city inspections and submitted needed material to the HOA for approval. They helped me pick out tiles in the style that I liked. Obviously every project will have different tastes of the owner, but they were quick to understand what I was looking for and to recommend things that fit my style. Throughout the project, they kept me informed of the next steps. Even in the beginning when they were doing the estimate, they provided me clear information. Additionally, they followed through with what they told me they were going to do in the time frame that they told me. I didn't have to chase them down for things, which is always a great thing when dealing with a contractor. They had a project manager, Shon, and a manager that was onsite to let the workers know what they had to do that day, Niv. They let me know daily what was going to happen the next day. All of the workers took care to wear masks everyday and to protect the flooring of the unit as they were working. When they left, they would ask if everything was ok and clean from the bathroom to the door. Since other units in building could tell that I was having work done, they asked for a recommendation and I gladly told them that I would use them again if I had more work to be done. After all the great reviews, I decided to contact A-List Builders about my commercial project. Cyndi was responding to me via Yelp messaging and we message back and forth my project and needs. She was very responsive initially. I made an appointment on Thursday afternoon with Ben for the coming Monday at 1pm. I confirmed it and provided my contact information, the address, and even tried to confirm it a second time. I called A-List Builders at about 10:30am the Monday of our scheduled meeting. I hadn't heard anything in regards to my 2nd confirmation. Cyndi answered and was lovely. She told me it was all confirmed, and she would message Ben about the appointment to remind him. I received a call 15 minutes later that he wouldn't be able to make it. We scheduled this time with our realtor, confirmed it only because this contractor had initially confirmed with us and only 2 hours before are they giving us notice? We were prepared to go through the space with a contractor and so had to find another one. This firm potentially missed out on a $1mil+ deal with us simply because they didn't show. For this unprofessional and flaky first move, I would be very cautious if your project is time sensitive. read more

My shower needed a major rehabilitation. I found this company after searching and getting estimates from many others but this company seemed the most reliable and was able to work with my budget. My friend referred me after she had her kitchen remodeled and was happy with the job. Originally I spoke to Ben on the phone and he came in for an estimate and showed me what we could do with my bathroom. We ended up getting rid of the tub and making the shower larger which is what I wanted. The whole process was very smooth and quick. I can tell that the job was well done. I hired A-List for a fairly large restoration project. The project involved wall replacement with framing and drywall, stucco, exterior and interior painting, foundation reinforcement, a new exterior gate, fence repair, brick and tile walkways. Ben was the only contractor I interviewed who recommended that an engineer inspect the foundation as part of the evaluation process. This was an insurance project and Meghan cheerfully worked through the process with my insurance company. All of the on-site workers were a pleasure to work with. They arrived early, were professional, and kept the work-site clean and organized... even the city inspector commented positively about A-List's knowledge and organization. I waited a long time to remodel my house and when I finally decided to move forward I wanted to make sure I found the best company for me. I interviewed 5 different companies, and I finally decided that Ben was my guy. From the first phone call Ben was very knowledgeable and was able to help me even when I didn't know exactly what I wanted. He had ideas that no other company had and the price he gave me was very reasonable compared to the other estimates that I received. Like so many people in LA we bought a fixer upper and you know, love hopes all things. But over the last 5 years we have searched intently for a contractor we could trust. Someone we could talk to that would understand our ideas and add their wisdom to our projects. We have been lied to, ripped off and even had gold stolen from our home by one contractor himself while onsite. I just bought a new condo and it needed a ton of work before I could even move in. It was important to me to find a company that could get my project started but also complete the work in a timely fashion so that I could move in ASAP. When I first met with Ben and Rani there schedule was packed and even though I really like them we weren't sure if we could get things done as quick as I wanted. Luckily they were able to make some accommodations and get the ball rolling. I had some reservations because I felt I was being squeezed in, however I took my chance and I couldn't be happier. We completed two bathrooms, my kitchen, flooring throughout the unit, complete repaint, added some lighting throughout, added a washer and dryer, and few more small projects all in about 8 weeks. The guys were all courteous and very helpful in explaining to me how things were going to be done. Again, we were surprised at his additional ideals and his presentation. We had previous had two of the big-box stores come out so we had an idea of cost. After having a few different companies come over for an estimate and repeatedly going over with parents which company would be best for us, we decided we wanted to work with A-List Builders. From start to finish, we worked with Ben. Every phone call, every email, Ben was quick with answering and tried to do everything he can to keep his word. I cannot say that everything ran as smooth as I wanted it to and that I did not get upset at times, but when I saw the finishing result of my kitchen I knew all that stress and anger was worth it. A-List Builders must have friends, and family post reviews here or compensate people in some way because I came across this company via google search and was really disappointed at their lack of professionalism! They couldn't leave me with a written estimate for some custom interior renovations I was considering, and didn't call back with any numbers when promised. I figured out these guys couldn't come up with a viable estimate because they have to sub contract everything out, which would drive up the cost of materials and their estimate. So, they were trying to hold off on saying anything to me as long as possible; and they indicated an inability to access some of the high quality styled materials I was looking for. And, with simple research, this all makes sense, because they work out of a house in Sherman Oaks, they do not even have a professional office or warehouse. They are just another small, start up foreign company with young guys attempting to hustle up any work they can get. They cannot handle special, custom or large scale renovations, as I needed a professional estimate on, as they claimed. Established, professional companies have the technology to provide renderings and pricing on the spot nowadays, and Ben could not! They could, perhaps, properly price out and do small, basic remodeling jobs, but I wouldn't even trust them with that after they jerked me around; and how they must have to sub contract any work. I could never recommend these guys. Thank God a neighbor of mine referred me to a real Construction Company that has actually been around about twenty years. These guys claim to have all that experience, but carry a Contractors Lic.# that starts with a 9. That is always a red flag that the company just started about a year or two ago, like these guys. That is their first lie. The second and primary lie is that they have many years handling "major design projects."
