Taqueria Pancho Villa II - Side enchilada with beef

Taqueria Pancho Villa II

We were in town to hunt and needed a good dinner. He had been here before and his wife really likes this place too. This place was decently busy which is always a good sign. Douglas is also a small town and limited options also tend to make places busier. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and opted to sit at the bar. We didn't have any drinks but instead stuck with water. Our server was around quickly and took our orders. We both got Tacos Mexicanos. Mine were with Al Pastor and my buddy got Chorizo. I ordered a side of the beef enchilada and my buddy ordered a queso Blanco with chorizo in it. We are also given a basket of chips with a fresh and tasty salsa. This was excellent as well. Our sides were up first. The enchilada was colorful and hot. It came out on a piping-hot plate. Covered in melted cheese and sauce. This simple, small but tasty enchilada was stuffed with fresh ground beef. The wrap it was in was tasty and for only $1.95, this was definitely worth it. The tacos came out soon after. Three tacos, decently sized. A fresh lime squeeze and a drizzle of verde sauce to top them off. The Al Pastor was perfectly cooked, tender and well seasoned. The meat was savory and had a hint of sweetness. These tacos were also topped with fesh cilantro. They hit the spot and were some of the best I've had. We will be back here for sure.

There wasn't many people in the restaurant when we arrived. So it wasn't like he was busy. He was very friendly and polite. The place was clean.

I've never heard of Huddle House before but they have plenty of locations across the Southeast. It's a diner-type place serving up quick-order breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. It's reminiscent of a Denny's or other breakfast places with "House" in the name. This location in Douglas was busy on a Saturday morning. We arrived and were seated immediately. The line by the door grew as the morning went on. My buddy Blaine and I had just finished hunting for the morning so we had an appetite. Our server was super friendly and got us started with drinks, just water. We looked over the menu. They had tons of items to choose from. Unique offerings, seasonal flavors, classics and the ability to customize a lot of things. I went with the MVP Breakfast. This includes two eggs, (I chose scrambled), sausage or bacon, (I chose sausage), hash browns or fresh fruit, (I chose hash browns), toast and grits or biscuits and gravy, (I chose biscuits and gravy), and a pancake or waffle, (I chose pancake). I upgraded the pancake to their seasonal Apple Streusel. I'm pretty sure my buddy Blaine got some sort of Southern eggs benedict but I can't find it on the online menu. This dish was smothered in hollandaise sauce and the side of hash browns were customized with diced ham and extra onions. The food didn't take long and came out hot and fresh. I enjoyed this breakfast and it was definitely filling. Three plates were brought out to me. One with sausage, eggs, and hash browns. The eggs were cooked decently. Not overly dry and didn't need any extra seasoning. The sausage was two patties, not too small, and seemed good quality. No gristle or anything in them. They had a savory and slightly spicy flavor. The hash browns could have been a little crispier but were tasty with some ketchup on them. The biscuits and gravy hit the spot. Two soft biscuits doused in a light-colored gravy. Bits of sausage in it and a healthy amount of pepper for that zing you expect. I love biscuits and gravy and while this wasn't as good as my mom's, it was decent. The pancake was also pretty good. A large, fluffy pancake that was pretty much the size of the plate. This pancake was sweet and well put together. Apple slices covered in a sweet glaze, covered in small crunchy cinnamon crumbles, and adorned with a dollop of whipped cream. This pancake didn't even need syrup. Needless to say, I finished the entire meal. My bud Blaine also finished his meal and said it was pretty good too. There aren't too many options in Douglas for breakfast but between friendly, quick service, decent food, and affordable prices, you can't go wrong with Huddle House.
