He said he could probably fix my brass lamp switch while I waited. Indeed, it took him about 10 minutes, tops. A very interesting man with a degree in architecture, JR does antique & period lighting, restoration and repair, custom light fixture design and manufacturing.. I had to chase her down to place an order, she seemed very un-motivated to sell lights. I paid for the lights, in full, and left. I didn't hear back from them for a month, so I decided to walk in there and see what was going on. I spoke to the front desk person. I explained that I hadn't heard back from them regarding my lights. She looked puzzled, then started rooting around on her cluttered desk, and said "oh, there is is!", and picked up a package, which had been sitting there for god knows how long. I explained that I paid for 3 lights. She looked disinterested, and told me she would call the supplier the next day and give me a call. Another month past, no phone call, so again I decided to go to the store. The same front desk person was there, and she looked up my order, one of the lights she said had been discontinued, and the other she wasn't sure why it hadn't been shipped. She promised to call them the next day. Another month past, and I returned. She hadn't done anything with my order, so I requested, and was given, a refund. 3 months wasted. Zero effort made to fulfill and order that I had paid for. AVOID!!

I want to update that review because Portland Metro Electric ultimately went above and beyond to address my concerns. I originally called because I was experiencing flickering lights and was concerned that several appliances seemed to be having problems at the same time. The electrician evaluated my electrical panel and did not find a problem with it. During the visit, he suggested adding a whole-house surge protector as an additional precaution, and I agreed to have it installed. Afterward, I had concerns about the $450 charge for the surge protector, as well as the fact that I wasn't informed about the 3% credit-card fee until I was ready to pay. I contacted the company and explained my concerns. The owner took my concerns seriously and ultimately provided a total adjustment of $450. I genuinely appreciate that he was willing to listen, work with me, and continue addressing the situation rather than simply dismissing my concerns. While I wasn't completely satisfied with the initial experience, I am very satisfied with how Portland Metro Electric ultimately handled my concerns. They demonstrated that they care about their customers and are willing to make things right when a customer feels something wasn't handled appropriately. I'm updating my review to five stars because of the way the company ultimately stood behind its service and worked with me to reach a resolution. I appreciate the professionalism and customer service they ultimately demonstrated.
