My car was towed less than five mins to my house. When it's time to pay him he would not accept card or checks he wants cash. we don't carry cash at home. So I told him to follow me to a store and I will get a cash back, so he did. Such a hassle. I would get a different towing truck service with a good rating next time. I don't suggest this company. They will drain your wallet.. read more

Terrible! So my car broke down and the roadside assistance service from my insurance sends Ajax Towing. Ajax finally shows up after 3 hours and then demands I push the car up the hill so he doesn't have to turn the truck around or take two steps to load it. Not only do I have a bad back, but the car weighs 3500 pounds. I couldn't push a car up a hill, so I told him politely that I can't do that, and also informed him of my bad back, and he tells me he always makes his customers push the car where he wants it and that it's my responsibility to do so, and if I couldn't do that then he would just leave me here. I repeated to him that I was not physically able to do that and he takes off! I tried calling his supervisor which is when I found out it was a one-man operation. The same guy answered the phone and told me he is the owner and then started laughing at me. I want to be clear that I was polite and calm throughout the encounter despite my frustration (I'm a nurse). Awful and unprofessional service. Don't ever try to call them for roadside assistance, especially in the middle of the night and if you're a female, because they will not hesitate to refuse to tow your vehicle and leave you stuck there. On my way to grab some food for my kids one night, my car had broken down a half mile away from my home, and I'd managed to park it at a gas station. I immediately called my father-in-law who was five minutes down the road to help me, and when he got there and realized that it needed towed so I called my insurance company for roadside assistance. They dispatched Ajax towing to come tow my vehicle. They gave me an hour ETA for Ajax to arrive, so I informed them that I would be having my father-in-law drop me off at home (a half mile down the road) because my kids were at home waiting for food. They said that that was perfectly fine, and I gave them my number for Ajax to call once they were 5 minutes away so that I could head back up there and meet them to get my car towed. The reason I'd left in the first place was to run to a fast food restaurant 5 minutes down the road from my house, in order to grab some quick food for my kids. They were still hungry, and the ETA for Ajax to arrive was still an hour, so I knew I still had plenty of time to grab food for my kids and drop it back off to them before having to meet Ajax. Even if they called sooner, I was in the area and would still be able to meet them within five minutes of receiving their call. As soon as I pulled up to the fast food drive thru, Ajax called and said that they were 15 minutes away. I told them that it was no problem, and I would be there. I went through the drive-thru (which took maybe 2 minutes, tops) and headed back to the gas station to wait for Ajax. I was about a minute away from pulling in, when Ajax called my cell phone. The man asked where I was at, and I informed him that I was getting ready to pull in. He laughed at me and said "nope, sorry can't help you, I've already been sitting here waiting for 15 minutes, I'm gone" and hung up on me. I was completely dumbfounded, but I didn't call back because I was already pulling into the gas station. He was still there, and he started backing up to pull out of the gas station. I started honking my horn but he didn't stop. I parked my car, ran out of my car and run up to his window, as he was sitting in the driveway getting ready to pull out of the gas station. He barely rolled his window down, and I said "I'm here, please don't leave, I was grabbing food for my kids. You said you were 15 minutes away, and it's only been 7 minutes since you called so I don't understand how you were already here, let alone 'waiting already 15 minutes', please don't leave!" He shook his head no and said "no, I can't help you, you're out of luck call someone else" and sped off. I immediately called him back crying, and explained to him that he was obviously lying about waiting there for 15 minutes, because it had only been 7 minutes since he first called me and told me that he wouldn't even be there for another 15 minutes. He became very rude with me and hung up on me. Just to clarify, I did not mix up his words, I know for a fact he wasn't already there waiting on me when he first called, because the first thing he asked me for was the address of the gas station. Why would you need the address if you had already been "waiting there for 15 minutes"? Also, if he arrived at the gas station and saw that I wasn't there, why would he wait 15 minutes THEN decide to call me and see where I was at?? Absolutely nothing made sense, my theory is that he was closer than the 15 minute estimate that he had given me, and was upset that I wasn't there (even though I pulled in right behind him) and left. I could understand if he left before I showed up, but I showed up while he was trying to leave and begged him to help me. He only had to tow it a half mile down the road! It was also 10pm, the gas station was about the close, and he knew that I was woman waiting by myself. Totally horrible experienced, I actually sat there and cried my eyes out while complaining to the insurance company about the horrible ordeal. They filed a complaint for me, and I hope this review will show others what a horrible and unprofessional "service" they are. They don't even care about paying customers!! I spoke with my brother-in-law about them, and he said that he had jewelry and other items stolen out of a car that Ajax had impounded a few years back, and they insisted that they didn't take anything and even got rude with my brother-in-law and his wife. AWFUL!!! I would give them ZERO stars if I could! You're better off pushing your own car home!! read more
