Luckily, The Painted Attic started opening on Sundays and Mondays back in May. This is the exact place I dream of when it comes to antiquing. Inside this 1895 white Victorian home there are 14 vendors selling anything from Pyrex and Corningwear to cast iron, paintings, and used clothing. The owner and his two cats were super friendly and helpful. If you love the thrill of the antique hunt and vintage homes, this is the stop for you. They rotate items regularly, too!

As such the hours are a bit limited. Really I wouldn't want to talk to anyone else though. This woman knows here stuff. I've browsed the store a time or two and you can really get lost in here. Even if you don't end up buying anything, it's certainly an experience. I see lots of potential for gift shopping here. Prices aren't the best as I imagine many of the items could be purchased online or at a shop more off the beaten path for less. On the flip side of that, the owner will give you a history lesson on practically any item. She is constantly perusing the internet for values with antiques websites and ebay forever open on her computer. It's great that the store isn't limited to a few types of antiques of one particular genre. There's furniture and décor throughout. Old tools, kitchen wares, wooden boxes, music boxes, old-timey pictures and lots of jewelry ranging from costume to gem encrusted gold. Again, if you know someone who likes antiques with a birthday coming up you will easily find something worth buying here.

Nice location, very clean stores, polite staff…read more The organization has a general thrift store (kids toys area, a little bit of clothing for men and women, general items), & a furniture store around the corner. This store honestly frustrated me. I go to cause- or benevolent-type thrift stores because I want to support them- in this case, I want to support differently abled adults being trained for work. (I believe this is the org's goal?) This store made it harder for me to spend my money- & I really wanted to! Seemed kinda high end and a bit pricy for a 'thrift store' in my opinion- particularly for women's items and furniture. They had a good range of clothing sizes for women tho. I always hope for a surprise find in thrift stores but this was not going to be one of those places for me-- unless I hoped to spend a few hundred looking for a used designer purse (a la Fendi) or an unusual mini-fridge. I asked about an item in the furniture area & no offer/effort was made to work with me on the (high) ticket price. Usually folks in a cause-related store will work with you because they want to see money generated & they know you're there to support them. Not here/ Got the sense that things are priced & that's that. And when they give you a color tag to look for for a discount of the day, & you don't see any discounted items with that color tag...not fun. (Also guessing that the coveted Matthew location near the Farmers Market is part of the higher prices. But just not as much fun to thrift when a used shirt costs $20.) I did see some kids toys for a range of prices which was nice...but just not a 'thrift' store to me. Maybe I got it wrong?
