Unfortunately I can't rate less than one star because yesterday our experience with Norma Ofelia's daughter was sad and terrible, when you come with a person in her 80 and see how Norma speak to her and have no respect .. that is so sad, she was trying to give to my sister (the customer) an X-Large size of the product ...then Norma got mad because we said it is big. I can't understand if she is getting pay from the insurance , why she got mad because we ask for an other size? she doesn't have a good actitud and respect for the the costumer. Specially when the customers had the saddest of their cancer sickness she have to had better actitud. We missed Ofelia who has better actitud and I don't know but the web page is in Spanish and English and Norma was saying she doesn't speak Spanish when I heard her speaking before in Spanish, unfortunately my sister doesn't... that is discrimination terrible costumer service. When I first came here I was so scared and just dealing with a lot. The entire staff here is so great. I forgot it was time for more supplies and they called me to remind me. I have been here twice now and I felt so welcomed and so special that they remembered me. After I was diagnosed with Cancer (7/2016), this was the place I was referred to as they were pre-approved by my insurance to pay for a wig. It was one of the worst experiences. At first, it seemed it was going to be an a bright side of what I was going thru, then it turned into an event I couldn't wait to end. I also regretted my choosing this place, and cringed when I saw their number pop up on my phone. The owner was very condescending, did nothing but push her products, talk about MY cost share to her (even tho my insurance would pay for my wig), and pretty much infer how I my makeup was awful, and should only wear mascara and stop trying to wear makeup while I have Cancer... that I would look much better. She also made a point to mention how my hair cut was "ok", but I should've let her cut my hair. This was after I mentioned how I had my two nieces cut my hair to make them a part of my journey. When my wig (supposedly) came in, I asked if my husband could pick it up. I was informed by the owner's daughter that her mother preferred I pick it up myself. Then started the multiple calls and messages (excessive over a few days). When my husband went to pick it up, he mentioned how she was pushy and insistent that I needed to come back for a fitting, and custom style. I told him, it was due to the "cost share" and her products she kept pushing. When he gave me the bag (a cheap white buy by the bulk shopping bag), it had my wig , and one measly piece of glitter paper. The tag was cut out of it, and there was no original box. I immediately felt it was used, and that she was ripping me and my insurance off. Why? When I met her, all she did was make sure I knew her business had burnt previously, she was back in business, and wanted me to promote her to my Social Worker at the hospital. When I got my Insurance statement, she charged them $3000. It was no where near that quality. Not to mention, it was NOT the wig or style we agreed upon... I kept remembering her "cost share" in my head each time I look at the wig. I've never worn it, and it's been stuffed it in a closet since I picked it up. I took it to a stylist (who helps Cancer patients and is in LA) who told me in her opinion it was less than $1000., used, and felt I was scammed. When the tag was cut out, you can't verify. The worst part is that in the front you can see where "hair" is missing - meaning yo can see the the cap. Now, she called me today, and I knew it was due to her trying to push my need for products after my surgery (which I found odd that she called me not even 3 weeks after my surgery, and I never mentioned my timeline to her). I did not talk to her, because I couldn't stomach having to be nice to her. I feel she is a scam artist. The only good thing that happened is I realized I didn't need a wig, and again I never wore it. It was all I could do not to burn the thing in my fireplace. I went bald the entire time, no scarves, and very rarely wore a hat (except to protect my head from the sun). Lessons learned, I should've gone elsewhere (like to LA), and had my insurance reimburse me. Overall, this place is great for people who have no idea about what to expect, etc. I actually knew more than she what she had to offer me (never had to chance to input, she never stopped talking down to me, so I sat there smiled and said thank you a lot). I have had several family members and friends who have had Breast Cancer, and is why I felt she was/is a scam artist. I truly wish I would've gone somewhere else. Ambiance: The hallways to get to the place is a bit worn, and old. The place has a bit cold in atmosphere, even tho they had formal sofas. I felt uncomfortable as soon as I walked in. It is in an office suite. I've been to doctor's offices in office suites that were more cozy. Services: The wig fitting was rushed in my opinion, and we moved right to another room where she pushed bras, clothing products and the prothesis for after the surgery... for a very long time. On my initial visit to A Greater Hope I was fitted with compression hose and have recently re-ordered two more pair. I realize that the products I needed were insignificant compared to what many of their customers need, but both times Norma went out of her way to provide excellent service. She was knowledgable about the products. I felt cared for as a customer. For both orders she went beyond the call of duty to provide excellent customer service, which I'm grateful for. read more

They fitted me with compression gloves per the doctors specifications, on two occassions. Unfortunatley, the doctor ordered the wrong thing three times in a row, so A Greater Hope and I both had to eat some of the cost. They were more apologetic than the doctors office that made the error. Even the doctor's own clinic that provided me with a wrap warned me that the file was still wrong. These folks act every bit as if their goal is to rip off their customers AND the insurance company, too. "Money Hungry" is not even an adequate description of their business and employees. Rude at times, insistent at times, pushy at times, these all describe what you should expect. They need to be disapproved by the insurance companies. read more

My all time favorite wig shop is A Greater Hope. I have been getting wigs from there for 20-25 years. The owner is very personable and takes time with each client as if she/he is her only appt for the day. She has a good eye for determining which style and color looks best on my face shape and skin tone. I've never left unhappy with my purchase. She's always ready to show me different styles and prices of wigs. If she doesn't have my choice in stock, she will order it and I'll have it in a few days. She's never tried to influence me toward a more expensive wig than my budget allows. I would highly recommend the owner of A Greater Hope to anyone looking to invest in a wig. I should have shopped around for a wig. I was just diagnosed with cancer and went to the first vendor on a list that was given to me. Very small establishment, not too many choices and when I came in to have a fitting for my wig, there was another lady in there that looked like she was buying the same wig I bought. Shop around...Service was good, they got back to my phone calls pretty quickly. I misunderstood when she told me that she would shave my head....didn't know that she was going to charge me for it. I have Breast cancer and had a mastectomy, so my insurance company referred me to A Greater Hope, The owner and Ladies that work there,were. not helpful, I wanted a lightweight Prothesis, with no other choices, she brought out a Prothesis In a bra, first I said I really didn't like it, and the Prothesis was heavy,I asked if there were any other choices, and she said no, she said it seems to fit, so I signed for them, I left and went home, as soon as I got home I took it off, it was so uncomfortable I couldn't wear it. I called and told them I was not Happy and wanted to bring them back and they told me once you leave it's yours. The bad part is I have to wait 2years, Insurance only allows 1 every 2 years. In there ad they want to make sure your Happy and they will make sure you are, I'm not close to being happy. You know it's hard to deal with Breast Cancer And all that goes with it. Theses people are in it for the money and nothing more, so beware, because they don't care about YOU, go somewhere else read more

DON'T GO THERE.. If there was a star less than a zero, I would put it. A place that suppose to care for people with special needs.. but instead they hire people who don't care about their customers. I haven't seen a place with worst customer service than A Greater Hope..if you call them, they will give you appointment next year and you ask them what we will do in the appointment?? they answer you I DON'T KNOW.. like ANNA the girl who works there.. I asked her to talk with a person in charge to know what will happen with my mom appointment and she said I am the only person in charge..My mom who had breast cancer and she is a disabled woman..she had an appointment with them and she went there to get a bra.. They made her wait for three hours then they told her we will call you later for the bra..off course they never called again because they don't care.. my mom called them and they told her you will have to get another appointment and they give her appointment NEXT YEAR!!! I asked Anna what will happen?? because my mom already came to you and she didn't receive the bra.. she said I don't know and HANG UP THE PHONE on me!!! HANG UP THE PHONE on the CUSTOMER!! I don't recommend anyone to go and get anything from them at all.. Even thier bras have a very bad quality. read more

I was in a bad time in my life when I need to get a wig, breast prosthesis, and mastectomy bras. I came across a shop in Mission Valley called A Greater Hope & I loved it. I would refer all my friends and family to Ofelia who is the owner. She is the most kind and compassionate person who completely understood what I was going through. She had a great selection of product and the service was all one on one. It is a very private and personal setting. I was fortunate that another wig shop (Hair Unlimited, rude) could not accommodate my needs and so I ended up at A Greater Hope. Upon entering I was greeted by a warm, outgoing woman in an elegant homelike atmosphere. Ofelia put me and my bald head at ease as she interviewed me about my desires and lifestyle. Her goal is to help women get their self confidence back after the trauma of disfiguring disease, and she is amazing. Her wig cost a little more than the off the rack store, but she is truly gifted in her ability to snip, cut and stitch a wig that fits so well I could bungee jump in it. (Not likely though.) She took an hour and a half to make certain that the wig was perfect before I left, and it is so beautiful and like my style that I have gotten into several arguments with people who do not believe it isn't my own hair. I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderfully gifted woman who has helped me get myself back. read more
