I can't say enough good things about this place! The custom bra fitting made for a real treat when my lady came back with a variety of items in different styles! She was personable, friendly and really listened to what my needs were! I walked out with 7 bras and 2 underwear and my bill was HIGH but well worth it! Remember: NEVER WASH YOUR BRAS IN A WASHING MACHINE. Place them in a bucket of soapy water and let them sit then rinse off or wear them in the shower and wash them that way and air dry! tl;DR a better fit than I could've hoped. LGBTQ friendly. Ask for Camille. Both my girlfriend and I had low expectations coming in, even though she's a repeat customer and this place was her recommendation. Immediate impressions met those expectations - a fairly generic suburban storefront, poorly marked and even more poorly lit, just no vibe whatsoever. The Fitting Place describes itself as a boutique, yet there's nothing sophisticated or fashionable about it - they still keep their records on a card catalog, and no one will mistake this for a Parisian or Québécois atelier. Really, if anything it reminds me of the repurposed warehouses where suit manufacturers would move undersold and b-stock merch back in the late 80s - dim, stuffy, somehow simultaneously uninspired and imposing. Then someone asked us if we needed help. As two queer women, one of us trans, the uptight suburban motif already had our hackles raised, but the saleswoman, Camille, instantly put us at ease. Camille pulled us from the main floor and into a private dressing room and set the stage for an afternoon that was as personalized as any at a high-end spa or custom tailor. Camille was calming while taking measurements. She was knowledgeable about the store inventory and was able to make and pull suggestions without our having to wander racks or ask for things. She was patient when didn't like any of a number of suggestions and instead kept us laughing until she found just the right thing. Most importantly, she made us comfortable - with her, with the shop, the shopping experience, and with our bodies. No mild feat. While I imagine not everyone on the staff may be as knowledgeable or welcoming to queer customers, but I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone to work with Camille to meet their bra and swimwear needs. Literally spent 2 hours at another lingerie store, only to be disappointed by their strapless bra selection and not being able to find a proper fitting bra. My friend finds a fitting place and calls for me to make sure they are still open. They are, so we hurry and go with about 20 minutes to spare. I knew my size and what I wanted, and their price point was comparable to other bra stores. Things got weird when we got to the dressing room. I appreciate the help, but I don't want a stranger to help me with my bra fitting or to see me topless. The associate came in the dressing room to try my bra on me. It had been a long day filled with arguing with my family, and I just wanted to purchase a bra. My helper went in great detail explaining that they do not do cash back. Okay? I care why?! I had already commented that the bra was the best fitting strapless bra I had ever tried on. She kept feeling the need to tell me over and over that I wouldn't be able to return it. I finally had to explain that I made plenty of money to spend $48 on a bra, and then she backed off. Here's the thing: when you are in sales, you never treat anyone like you know how much money they can spend, or what kind of budget they are on. I am writing this review because with great customer service you must have loyalty to your customers! I don't like when you are happy and all about a great experience when I am spending money but different energy after. I have been spending a great deal of money with FP AND sent customers who are repeat customers and to be asked to buy a $1.79 bra extender is offensive! Within the last two months I've purchased EIGHT bras, my young nieces, twins several bras in August for school AND my mother all in July and August and them bras ain't cheap AND I ordered bras online and I can't get a $2 damn bra extender for free? Then Janet, the manager wanted to lecture me on the pros and cons of an extender when her own staff suggested it for my very need! And it worked so since that bra had two hooks and this one three hooks I just thought my loyalty could afford me a free bra extender. Eight bras between July and August and you want to charge me $2? I don't have a great need for incredibly supportive undergarments (TMI?), so I don't visit The Fitting Place too often. It does, however, have everything under the sun for those women that are a little more blessed than I am. I would definitely shop for nightgowns here- they would make great gifts for moms and grandmas. I prefer t-shirts and lounge pants myself, but if I'm in the mood for a good, snuggly, warm gown during the winter months, I might go back and check it out. RUDE OWNER! The woman that work at this store are great, I have been going there for a long time and have always been able to find something to fit. Recently I went into the store and was having trouble finding what I was looking for. The lady that I was working with went and got to owner for assistance. The owner starting raising her voice at me, and was just plain rude. If I was asking for something that was so far out there or something that could not be accommodated that could of been expressed to me in a polite manner. Instead she got a attitude, raise her voice at me and made smart comments about how she was right. I have big boobs. No, let me rephrase that...I have massive boobs (38K) and it's damned hard to find stores that sell bras in my size. I had a place I loved in Boston, and I was happy to find a place down here. They sized me and found a bunch of bras in my size to try on. I also brought in my old bra that I was replacing. The woman didn't realize they made that style in a larger size so she had the manager order them. They listened to what I was looking for in a bra and helped me pick out a couple great ones. They also work with women who have had mastectomies and provide special bras and inserts. read more

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen a larger selection of bras in my life! I'm recovering from a mastectomy, and will be coming back when I have to rebuild my bra collection. Their sizes run from small all the way up to 52N. I was shopping for a wig, and though they have a small wig area, it was plenty big for me to find a wig to suit my face. I had to order the color I wanted and am waiting three business days for it to come in. The knowledgeable staff were so helpful with the logistics of wig care and maintenance. They made a nerve-wracking experience much more pleasant! Though they are invaluable to women being treated for cancer, their selection makes them essential to any woman who doesn't feel well served by the departments stores in Memphis. I used to wait to go to Nordstrom in Nashville for their bra selection but from now on will go to A Fitting Place. read more

I spotted some nightgowns in the window of this little store, and immediately wanted to see what they had to offer. The name itself, doesn't really give it away until you get inside, and in my book pajamas are the most wonderful invention ever. Imagine my surprise when I walk in (husband in tow) to find walls upon walls of bras, pasties, girdles and panties. And no, not necessarily the pretty frilly ones. Now I get it. A Fitting Place will actually *fit* me for my undergarments. My husband was pretty p'oed that I brought him in here, so I made a quick run of the place taking inventory of what all they carried. I did spot some gorgeous Oscar De La Renta nighties (for a whopping $145 bucks) but the rest were kind of Grandma-ish and may or may not have come straight out of Mimi Bobeck's closet. I was quite impressed by the 1950s swim caps they had along the wall. They had the rubber flowers all around the head and everything. I begged. I pleaded. I compromised. Nothing worked, the husband seriously did not get the necessity that was the 1950s synchronized swim caps at A Fitting Place . All in all- I would go here if I needed an undergarment for a particular dress or outfit, otherwise probably not. read more

I went into the fitting place on 09/23/2021, to be fitted for bras, and while I was there I purchased spanx as well. I did ask the clerk if it would show underneath my clothes. So my objective was to try it on with a specific skirt that I own. Mind you, this is not a cheap item, if it didnt work. The same way I purchased, is the way I returned it. I only decided to, because you could see the imprint and that was the whole idea. The store clerk insulted me to the core when returning the spanx, holding it up to my face telling me that it looks like it been worn, she implied by saying "I'm not saying that you did, but it looks that way". If that's not calling me a liar I don't know what is. I only tried it on and took it off maybe every bit of 30 minutes. Now I'm 185lbs and it's a sz. (s) so maybe that's why, and I asked the clerk if she was implying because of the label because it was definitely rather dingy, but it was that way when I bought it, because I thought the same and it wasn't sold to me with an original tag. It was a store made tag, so someone definitely returned it before me so I was very upset at this point because I'm not a liar, and it did something to my spirit. To say the least be careful How you address people, and just know I will never ever do business there again. read more

I have always wavered between a A-minus and a B-plus in bra sizes when I was younger. But the older I have gotten, the bigger my boobs got. The employees were extremely rude to my mother today. She was treated as an inconvenience as soon as she arrived at the store. Whoever opened the door was extremely unhelpful and uninviting. Employees started to talk about my mom because she didn't have an appointment. She was a brand new customer and was treated as though she didn't matter. Thankfully, after waiting an extended time, a very nice lady fitted her. But her experience ended the same as it started. Her transaction was completed by the same employees who treated her as an inconvenience. Treating someone with basic dignity and kindness is not a difficult task. After this situation occurred, we realized others have had similar experiences based on their Yelp and Google reviews. My mom was looking forward to finding something to give her relief after undergoing major spinal surgery, and your employees could have cared less about her. I try buying a bra there. Was told by my job that had to have no underwire. So I made sure I didn't. Pantley the wire in the back Did not pass either. So I tried to go to the store and returned the bra. They tell me the only thing they could do is give me store credit. I'm trying to work. These people don't care. They did not have the bra I needed so that I could work. The only thing they could offer me as store credit. I don't have a lot of money and this is the thanks I get for shopping here. It's hard enough to deal with mastectomy as it is and the hassles of wearing a fake boob, but this establishment offers a great selection of breast forms, bathing suits with a pocket for the swimming breast form, and a huge selection of mastectomy/surgical bras. I had never been to A Fitting Place, but heard that this is THE place to go to find a bra that fits properly. I never feel like I wear the right size bra, so was looking forward to being properly "fitted" for the first time. I walked into the store for the first time and first saw a podium with a sign that stated "Please Sign in", so that is just what I did. What happened next felt like it was out of a horrible TV show. I was never greeted and never asked what I could be helped with. A saleslady looked at the list and said "I can take you." I was then led back to a dressing room. As we were walking through the store to the dressing room, I told the lady that this was my first time there, and she said "Kind of weird, huh?" We walk into the dressing room, I take off my shirt, she takes ONE measurement, around my ribcage, still not asking what I am there for / what I am looking for, and walks out of the dressing room. She looks back at me before she goes and says "You don't want black do you?" What takes place next can only be described as the biggest waste of time I have ever experienced. There was never a real "fitting", and she never told me what my correct size was. She brought several different bras for me to try on (good thing that was what I was there for, as she never asked me) - most of them not in a style I would like, and not in the same size. She put bras on me that obviously did not fit (I am no expert - but these bras were way too small), and when I asked her questions about how a bra was supposed to fit, she seemed very confused. In the end, I just picked the least uncomfortable bra to buy and left as quickly as possible. For a store that is supposed to be "experts" in a proper fit.... I was VERY disappointed. I will NOT be coming back to this store ever again! read more

I purchased two bras at The Fitting Place 5 days ago and the staff was very helpful with "fitting" me with the proper size bra. That was excellent. However, I will never shop there again as their return policy is very unfair. One of the sports bras I purchased (on sale) needed to be exchanged as it was not working out well with my exercise shirt. Upon checking my receipt, (prior to driving to the store) I noticed that "ALL SALES MERCHANDISE FINAL". NO exchanges or refunds. So be fore warned - their refund policy is very ridgid. And they DO NOT make any exceptions to this policy. The sales receipt states: "Unworn merchandise may be exchanged within 14 days. NO REFUNDS; ALL SALES MERCHANDISE FINAL." I do believe that the store should display their refund policy more prominently at the check-out desk so that shoppers are duly made aware of the policy. In addition, they should verbally state their refund policy to shoppers when they are paying for their purchases. To make sure that they are fully aware of their return policy. If I had know the policy when I was purchasing, I would have not made the purchase for the 2nd bra that I bought. So make sure you know their refund policy, before you make your purchase! I would not recommend shopping there as this store has a No Refund policy on non-sale items - only an exchange. And they have a No Exchange or Refund policy on all sales items. read more

The sales staff insists on measuring, fitting and actually putting the bra on you. This type of "hands on" service is uncomfortable for someone who can put their own bra on and does not need to be fitted for a prosthesis. The sales associate had so many different styles and sizes in my fitting room, it was confusing to try to decipher what fit and what didn't. She made a mistake and sold me one of the bras that didn't fit properly. When I went to return it, the manager stated there was no returns only store credit. Then she made a production of examining the bra and in an attempt to embarrass me stated loudly that the bra appeared to be worn. I explained the situation and said I could understand how the sales lady could have gotten the bras confused and that the bra was worn for about 15 minutes until I realized what had happened. She then told me (and the rest of the patrons) that she found it hard to believe that one of her bras was sold in that condition, with the label faded, etc. I reiterated that the bra had not been worn. After more disparaging comments, and although I did not appreciate being told I was lying, I didn't want to make a scene as she had, I quietly replied "okay". After a few seconds of silence and direct eye contact she asked me if I remembered which bra actually fit, and I said yes and we both went to retrieve it. I paid the difference in price and left. There was another lady there attempting to exchange a nightgown she bought the night before( just as they were closing) for another size, only to be told - sales items are final, period. read more

This store is THE place in town for surgical related foundation garments, and they can file your insurance for you as they are a preferred provider for many insurance companies, so ladies, if you need mastectomy related garments, check out this store for your needs. They carry an assortment of post-surgical and post-recovery mastectomy garments, breast forms and swim apparel. The staff is friendly and helpful and I got to speak with a 40+ three time breast cancer survivor, what a support group and it really gives you hope. Even the customers who have traveled the breast cancer path before you are willing to share. What a gift to the community. You may find a better price on the web, but you can't try on the garment, and they can't file your insurance paperwork for you, so try the local experience. read more
