When my husband and I began to plan our wedding, we discussed how big or small. Courtroom or venue, dress up or casual. Once we made the decision to have an actual wedding and guests. David DJ'ed our wedding last week. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Right from the beginning he was extremely professional and easy to work with. We began with a phone call and a discussion about what we wanted, including music styles we like, what kind of reception we wanted, how much we wanted him to MC , etc. His vast years of experience really shown through, as he asked all the right questions, helped us think about things we hadn't thought of, and even helped us tweak our timeline. He made really good suggestions and gave his reasons for making them. But, was VERY flexible and was always trying to give us what we wanted. Consider this. He has seen over 2 decades of weddings. Most of us have not. David was perfectly punctual , set up multiple stations with no help needed, and was polite to everyone. He checked in with me (the groom) often to make sure we were ready, and that all were present and accounted for, for all the important moments like the special dances and toasts etc. Now the good part. The Music and dancing. He was perfect. Many DJ's will try to make your reception about themselves and their "DJ Skilz"... David made it about us. He read the room and people's response to the music, and kept people on the dance floor. HE KNOWS WHAT WORKS. We had such a good time dancing and partying into the night. He took our genres we liked and strung them together wonderfully. We had people in their 70s dancing, and teenagers dancing. And, ZERO people were bored. He's very smart, and will steer you away from "vibe killing" songs. (November Rain by Guns n Roses might be a classic, but it's probably going to kill your reception). He played very contemporary music, and classics that brought the house down. To sum up.. David made our wedding better, David made our reception fun, David made our wedding less stressful. read more

Our DJ David was absolutely phenomenal!! We went with a lot of classical music for our ceremony and that is not easy to do since many versions of classical pieces exist. He did a perfect job finding the exact versions of my favorite pieces. When it was time to boogie down and dance with family he played the absolute best lineup of songs that got even my non-dancing family on the floor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! We used David for our wedding last weekend. He was very communicative with us during the entire process, beginning months in advance. He gave us tons of advice and tips when it came to the flow of the evening. He had a lot of great ideas about how to keep our guests involved (our favorite being the Anniversary dance). He showed up a few hours early to set-up and complete numerous sound checks, which definitely showed his professionalism and drive to want the day to go perfect. He even helped my (now) husband tie his tie, as no one at the venue knew how to! LIFE SAVER. Our timeline was thrown off due to catering issues. Mixed reviews with David from A Family Friendly DJ. Plus: he was prompt, well organized and timely. He was self-sufficient to set up and tear down all his equipment. He asked for music preferences and stuck to our "squeeky clean" choice. Minus: he was really inflexible on some things and that made it hard to work with. First example was the bridal march song that was chosen had a specific part that the bride and groom wanted the song to end on (due to a very meaningful lyric). David was absolutely immovable about working with this request and wouldn't even try to consider it saying he only would fade out the music when the bride arrived at the alter no matter what. I tried to reason that this was a very important request from the bride and groom and even the officiant was on board but he still would not budge. The second issue we had was when the bride and groom were ready to get the special dances going in order to stick to a tight timeline, David absolutely REFUSED to call the bride and groom out to start the dances until we had EVERYONE for the toasts (which came 40 minutes later) seated and ready to go. There were 3 other dances and cutting the cake that needed to occur before this but he would still not start until everyone was seated. This really interrupted people's time visiting AND set our timeline behind by 20 minutes. This caused the time available at the end to just party and dance to be cut very short and really disrupted the whole vibe of the reception. I would also mention that even though the music choice was "squeeky clean", the selection chosen was pretty out of date and could have been better. Just because we didn't want foul language and vulgar lyrics doesn't mean we don't want great music that is current or classic. read more

I met David as he was DJ'ing a wedding that I was filming, and we instantly hit it off. Some DJ's just start a music playlist and let things go, but David takes it up a level as his professionalism shines through his personality and ability to read the crowd. Not only did he take the time to sit down and see what type of music theming we wanted, but he even went and got songs that he didn't have that we knew we had to have played. We were married last weekend at The Water Oasis in Newberg, Oregon and I couldn't wait to leave a stellar review for David. We are so happy to have had David with us as our DJ and emcee. David was an amazing DJ! He asked all the right questions to really understand our musical tastes and the vibe we wanted for our wedding and reception, and he completely nailed it. He was right on time, completely professional, had himself set up and going before our guests arrived and the music never stopped until we were winding down. I have had the pleasure of experiencing David's DJ-ing services three times. two times were for my friends weddings. David is professional, easy going, and very customer friendly. One of the two experiences I actually got to work with him because I was the wedding coordinator and again, David was very professional, easy to work with. Every transition was very smooth and worry free. The third and most recent experience was for my own wedding. Dave was an awesome choice for a DJ. Our wedding reception was fairly short (only 3 hours), but he made sure that we understood his worries beforehand. He was upfront with everything and we had no surprises with him. We were a little stressed out going into the reception, but he was able to put our minds at ease as he worked his music magic. Every request we had was met with a good discussion on how he'd seen it done previously and how it may work out. All the music we asked for was present (including a few Spanish songs) and he made the night incredible for everyone! My son was married last Saturday. Since he is an only child and we wanted to make a great impression on the brides family, we were very particular about the reception, cake, music, etc.. This DJ is by far the best. He worked with the bride to play the music she wanted. When things were not quite right ,he improvised with the coordinator to make it happen as if everything was planned that way. He covered our miscues and problems and made it all come together. We had an absolutely fantastic experience with David for our wedding May 2018. David was professional and helped my wife and I through the process start to finish.
