- - - Current Review - 2025 - - - We continue to be thrilled with A E Schmidt... ... first with our table and chairs, which made our and billiards room a few years ago ... and now with the world's most wonderful pool stick / pool cue holders, which are hand-made-in-St. Louis!!!. - - - - - - If we could provide six stars, we would! - - - - - - We purchased the table and chairs and more back in 2019; we didn't get a stick holder then, so since then we had just leaned our sticks against one of the high chairs; that worked but was not ideal. After a while we finally decided to get some pool stick / pool cue holders. We conducted many online searches and saw many sticks that were not quite what we wanted, so we searched the A E Schmidt site and found some wonderful designs. And then we saw the holder we now have - wonderful! We were initially interested in getting the stick holders from A.E. Schmidt just because we liked the design; we now know that Stephanie and the rest of the A.E. Schmidt go through a LOT of dedication to make sure their customers get just the right design, and that they make the sticks, and so much more, hand-made here in STL. So now we will not look anywhere else! We were hoping the stick holders could be a color similar to the chairs... at that time we did not realize that A. E. Schmidt hand-makes the stick holders... which means they can color match the paint color.. so wonderful! When we ordered the stick holders, in talking with Stephanie on the phone, Stephanie was confident she had the right color for the chairs AND she wanted us to be as sure about the color as she was so... instead of closing the order, she politely insisted on sending us color samples... and with the samples, we quickly confirmed the color of the chairs, which was exactly the color Stephanie thought they were... and so we completed the order, with no sense of urgency... we had waited five years to order, after all. And that's not all. (yes, this review is overdue; the first half of the year has passed so quickly...) We had the table for five years; we would have liked the pool stick holders by Christmas and it was absolutely no concern if we got them a few days or a few weeks later. AND YET Stephanie and the A.E. Schmidt team worked hard to get them completed and we picked them up Dec. 23! WOW! T H E Y L O O M A M A Z I N G ! ! ! I had never thought that a pool stick holder could ever make me so impressed by the skills used to make them... but I am IMPRESSED! The pool stick holders organize the room and look so great... the shape and color... WOW to the carpenters who staff who make such pieces of functional art!!! Schmidt team for being such good people and making such great products, here in St. Louis, MO! - - - Original Review - 2019 - - - Great tables, great service! We had wanted a pool table for a long time and finally purchased one this past winter. A.E. Schmidt did a great job on the installation and turned a former home office into a game room! I credit my wonderful wife... she coordinated all this with A.E. Schmidt... and the day of the install I came home and it was all 100% complete... nice, neat, clean, and ready for fun! They installed the table and we also purchased the table tennis set, too. And just like the billiards table itself, this is top notch... on weeble-wobbly fold-up legs like we used to have. The thick table tennis top has a smooth pad on the bottom and gently sits atop the pool table... perfectly aligned and then topped off with a fantastically solid and tight net that does not sag. The paddles and balls are great. We're having much fun as a family... some longer sessions, and some short 1-2 game sessions... even on week nights once homework is done. We were incredibly happy with our experience with AE Schmidt. We just moved from California to St. Louis and it was too expensive to ship our pool table so we decided to buy a new one. I called a few places and then requested an online quote from AE Schmidt and Rachel replied asap on a Saturday!! I called over there and was informed a custom table would take over a month so we went in to the show room factory and bought one from the floor and they delivered it two days later! The two installers (Mike and Mark) were very professional and had it set up within an hour. The table is gorgeous and my family has enjoyed it already. read more

The buying experience was very enjoyable. I wanted a particular table, but I liked the wider rails of another table, so they said " we can make you that table with the wider rails!". So, perfect! I got the speedcloth, and the 8 foot oversized. I love it! It plays so nice! They bought my 7 foot Brunswick, moved it, and installed the new one. Prefect installation, they guys were very nice.... a wonderful experience, and a good value. If you buy a table in St. louis, you're cheating yourself if you don't go to A E Schmidt. read more

They were professional, on time, and courteous. They were also the best priced movers I was able to find. Would highly recommend.

I called to have my pool table refelted. My table was in a basement that flooded and after they took the table apart, they said that there is mold and it should be cleaned before refelting. I also didn't like the original color I had picked out so we rescheduled for another day so I could wipe the mold off (which was very easy). When they came back they brought another color that I was not in love with so I asked to pick another color which required rescheduling for the third time and pick a different color. I finally picked Navy, which looks very nice. They didn't charge me a dime until the last visit. Reasonable pricing for 3 trips out to my house in the boonies (45 min from their location). The staff were all very friendly and polite. They worked fast and my table looks brand new. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the service provided. Another thing to note, they scheduled with 2 hour windows and for all three visits they were within that time frame. Everyone is busy and I'm glad to see they care about others' time by keeping on schedule. I highly recommend. read more

I needed to move my 8' American Heritage table from my old place to new place. The movers came in right 9am of the scheduled range of 9 to 11am. They provide excellent notification on arrival and set expectations on the level of effort and timing. They disassembled the table within an hour, moved the table and reassembled while taking care to set the table in the exact spot and leveling the table perfectly. All was done by noon (3 hours total). The two guys were precise and knew exactly what to do and cleaned up at both locations.
