We reached out to A Deck Above this summer to tear down and replace our old deck with something that will give us more space for entertainment and a way to enjoy our back yard more. Jeff came by and gave us a fair estimate and good recommendations to improve the overall layout of the proposed design. We had a general idea of what we wanted and Jeff helped point out different perspectives that we greatly appreciated. All their crews were booked up with work for several months in advance, which told me that A LOT of people were eager to use this company. Now that the deck is finished I can see why. The quality and craftsmanship is incredible and impressed my general contractor father. You can tell this was a very experienced crew that got the whole project done in a little over a week, which is amazing. We opted to go with a higher tier Trex plank material for its low maintenance and durability. The price was fair (middle of the road from the other estimates I got) but the overall value was outstanding when you see and feel how sturdy and well constructed it is. We thought we had a nice deck until the "treated wood" started rotting within a year or two...when a worker came back he told us the wood products were not treated properly and we would need to call as it started to deteriorate (most of the deck was composite with railings consisting of wood). When we had railing falling off the owner said he would replace them at at our cost because like us, he also was duped a thought the wood was treated properly.....would not stand by his work and replace the railing. I have told others of my experience and would never recommend a company the does not accept responsibility for their poor product. NEVER...If you want a company who will stand by their product, do not us this company. read more

I absolutely LOVE my porch but have had a consistent problem with water coming between facia board and gutters. An attempt by roofers to fix the problem did not help and I've hired a roofing company to make necessary repairs. I also had a Belgian Cobble Stones put on patio and they are very uneven causing more water to stand and puddle than I previously had. Recommend for a porch but, unfortunately, not for a patio. All has been repaired and I'm very happy. Kurt and son Brett did a great job. read more

A Deck Above added a 375 sq ft extension to my existing stamped patio using paver blocks. They were able to find a paver pattern that was similar to the stamped pattern so the overall effect was very pleasing to the eye. They also added a rock wall and two columns. We are very pleased as we took another step closer to our dream backyard where (in this lockdown) we plan to spend a lot of time. My advice in choosing a company is to pick one with lots of experience, one that will actually give you a written estimate with details of the work to be done. If we could give 10 stars we would! We added a deck to the back of our house that has an existing curved travertine patio with a brick course edge that the deck butts up to. We were concerned that the edge would be hard to follow, but it is perfect. John and Steve are both not just carpenters; they are truly craftsmen and two of the nicest guys in the world to work with. Everything about the process was clear and concise, even in the current situation this year with lumber, etc. in short supply. We could not be happier with the end result. This company was amazing to work with from start to finish. Kurt was very prompt and communicative with getting a quote. The crew was extremely professional and courteous. They often worked 12 hour days to finish our two story deck, front entrance deck/entry stairs, and small outdoor staircase leading down to the two story deck from the front. Every part of the decks, from the railing to the stair treads, were custom cut by the crew beautifully to create attractive and extremely solid structures. Because our house is in Tega Cay, the decks must also go through rigorous inspection and the inspectors agreed. They did multiple clean ups during this project (it was a somewhat large project) to take away their waste and always kept the job site extremely tidy, which was important because we have young kids and constant visitors of all ages. The house we currently live in isn't my first fixer upper. In fact, I'm so familiar with deck pricing, I can almost always tell my husband exactly what a quote will be based on what a company says when they come out. We have worked with a lot of different crews for different projects and A Deck Above has been the smoothest and easiest so far. Their assessment of the job was fair and reasonable and their work exceeded my expectations. I only wish they did more than decks or that I could just deck the bathrooms and the rest of the projects this house requires. read more
