6/23/19 WE LOVE THESE GUYS! A friend and I were visiting Astoria, and happened upon a Husky dog locked in a car with all the windows shut tight. Even when overcast, temperatures in a closed car can rise over 20 degrees in 30 minutes. Plus, it's Oregon, so the sun was out in full force within 10 minutes. The several other good Samaritans were reluctant to break a window, as the police MAY have been on their way. So, we called Coastal Lock-n-Key Locksmith. The car locksmith was home, and drove into town in 15 minutes! We were so happy to see him! That is really going the extra miles to help out a creature in need, when there was no financial gain. These guys deserve the benefits of Good Karma! They were SUPERSTARS! If you need locksmith help, CALL THEM! [Astoria dispatch didn't know about Oregon House Bill 2732, which entitles citizens to responsibly break into a car when a child or animal is trapped inside and in imminent danger. Distressed dogs drool a lot, young kids may cry or appear to be sleeping. Coastal Lock-n-Key Locksmiths will understand this disclaimer- THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE! Check out OR House Bill 2732 for yourself. However, the bill seems to recommend this course of action: Carefully break into the car. Rescue the child or animal. Call law enforcement. Explain what you have done, and then wait there for police or the car owner to arrive. Unless there is 'reckless, wanton, or intentional misconduct' to the car, you cannot be held financially responsible for repairs to the vehicle. *sob story alert* I was traveling up the coast on my way home to Tacoma after my father passed away recently in Arizona. I must have driven 12 hours that day and still had 3-4 hrs more. I stopped in Astoria at Mo's for some chowder and saw a boat moored nearby that had the name of "Steadfast". It brought me to tears since my son and daughter had decided to get matching tattoos while she was going through cancer treatment a few years ago. She didn't live much longer and passed away at age 24 a year ago May 27th so this was also a memorial trip to toss her ashes along the coast on the road trip she wasn't strong enough to take with me. In my teary-eyed state, I dropped my keys in plain sight in my console! Needless to say, I called the first 5-star locksmith Google gave me. Owner Mike said his brother was in Astoria and would be there in 20 minutes to help me. He was there in probably 8 minutes and got the car unlocked in no time. He was also very sympathetic to my situation and I can't thank them enough for coming to my rescue. PLEASE use this family-owned business if you ever need a locksmith! Very reasonable rates also! Stranded outside in seaside oregon after a long day of study and driving, morale was low, and we thought the likelihood of a small town locksmith being open at 9pm was slim to none. We'd jiggled the lock. We'd bought WD-40 and applied it liberally. We'd called fathers and Portland locksmiths. Resources exhausted, I called up Mike and explained our situation. He told me his price on the phone, and I invited him to get on the road. A speedy 40 minutes later, Mike had traveled the 20 miles to our home and arrived in his yellow keysmith cube, and walked up the drive with a smile. He was friendly and worked quickly and accurately: even making us a new perfectly measured key to replace our poorly cut copy. He was exactly what we needed, and I am so glad that we found him. Great experience!!! I bought a 2012 Camaro after someone rear ended and totaled my last Camaro. I purchased this car from a friend who flips cars for a living. This car did not come with a key fob, and for a year and a half I did everything manually. It took a couple days because they are so busy....but Allan was great!!! He knows cars and he knows keys. He programed a new fob for me in under 30 minutes, and cut a new blade. He even cut an extra one so I could have a back up. I was hoping my car had auto start, and sure enough....after he programmed my new fob...we found out for sure my car had auto start. I am sorry I forgot her name, but the woman that works in there is very sweet too. This business came highly recommended by several people and now I know why. This review is a no brainer, I highly recommend this company. As a local resident of the oregon coast I cannot say enought about this company and the family who owns it. After a crazy situation in which someone stole my car keys and I was well on my way to losing faith in all of humanity, Mike and his family reinstalled my faith that some people are good. I was down on my luck and they were compassionate and kind, assisting me to re-key my car. Not only did he re-key my car, but when he made new copies of my keys the persistent problem which a sensitive alarm system that always set itself off subsided! A couple months ago, my wife's purse was stolen out of her vehicle while her and our kids were renting a Redbox movie. I was out of town at the time working. Being robbed is horrible in itself to deal with, but with that came a bit of fear for her. Her house key, bank and credit cards, as well as her drivers license and other ID cards were in there. My 2 friends and I were on our way to Cannon Beach for our other friend's surprise proposal and we stopped at Safeway for a bathroom break. When we did that, our driver accidentally left her keys in the car we called her roadside assistance and it was taking much longer than we expected. Stop reading reviews and call Mike at A Coastal Lock-N-Key. Such a great experience. I needed a duplicate of a house key on short notice. Who expects a locksmith to be so pleasant on a Sunday morning? Mobile service was exactly what I expected. And once he arrived, he was done 10 minutes later. Is it cheap to call a locksmith to the house on Sunday morning? Cheaper than a broken window, a screen replacement, and my precious vacation time which was the route I feared I was going to have to take if I didn't get the key I needed. Mike Long and his mom, Cheryl own this business and I have had many keys made there over the years. They go way beyond the usual customer service. This week I brought my huge Sears car carrier in because I lost the tiny key to it and since we are leaving on a road trip soon, I had to deal with it. Mike got the lock open after breaking a key in it, taking the lock out, removing the key piece, then finally getting it to work. THEN, he spent at least 30 minutes or more helping me install the carrier on the top of my van. This locksmith saved the day. I lost my key to my truck and called him after dealing with every other locksmith in the area. I was quoted 250 dollars from the other guys, and and that was if they could find the right key for my truck. he did it for 140 and he knew exactly what he was doing. He took time out of his day off and even gave me a ride to my truck, he made me more than one key and was verry friendly. He is most defiantly the most customer friendly and not to mention educated locksmith in the area. Mike is the one to call! We needed to get the locks changed on our house in Nehalem during the busy 4th of July weekend and he not only changed all the locks he called me from the Warrenton Home Depot to talk me through all the lock options and then bought all the hardware. What I really found outstanding is that he took the time to explain all the ins and outs of different lock configurations on our house. I always use A Coastal Lock-N-Key for any locksmith service, both for my rental properties and my residence and they are consistently swift with their service, competent, helpful, and "value" priced. I was locked out of my car and called AAA. The towing company was unable to unlock vehicle, being its a complex security system in a Lexus! I had given up and was contemplating knocking a window out to gain access. The tow truck driver said, "I know a guy", and insisited I wait to destroy my rear car window. Well that guy was, Mike. Mike was knowledgeable and knew exactly what we were dealing with on this make and model. He managed to gain access and took care not to damage the door trim paint. Mike saved the day - or I should say night! Five guests from Italy booked one of my vacation rentals. After traveling several hours they arrived in the evening to find there were no room keys in their lock box. The Master key wouldn't work either. I called Mike, who came right away. He replaced the lock and made a new set of keys. This place is a 10+. We went clamming in Ocean Park and my ignition key stopped working. Triple A refused to help us until we got off the sand. Our vehicle was stranded and risked going out to sea with the tide. Long story short, Mike left a birthday party on a Saturday evening met us, fixed the problem and delivered us the car!
