Technician came and did not speak English so there was a bit of a language barrier. Told me it would be $200 then completed the job and charged over $400. He didn't even pick my lock, just drilled through it, which I could have done myself had he been able to communicate what was going on. He refused to leave my apartment until I paid him. Mind you, I am a young woman in my 20's with a stranger refusing to leave my now unlocked home, with no way to lock it. I called for WEEKS trying to get an explanation and was constantly told a supervisor would call me (they never did). I was hung up on and spoken rudely by several customer service reps. Called to request a dead bolt lock be changed out as mine was stuck and key no longer worked. Technician arrived and told it would cost $389 for changing lock. I was in a bind as I had to leave, or spend the time to get a second locksmith out. While he was working he, asked multiple times if I would like the door lock changed to the same key. After the third time, I asked him why someone would want the same key to open both the door lock and the deadbolt lock. He would not answer. I felt very uncomfortable with him. He did not provide any identification or documentation of his license. When I asked for an itemized receipt he said he would email it, but what was sent was not broken out. When I reached out to the main office, they took my email address and I have since started getting spam emails, but no itemized receipt. Bad practices, questionable practices, odd behavior. Not only was he able to get me on his schedule, but he had a cancellation was over to my home within a few hours. He recored 4 locks, and installed a Schlage Sense smart lock. The smart lock gave us some trouble, but after a few attempts, he was able to solve the problem. He worked quickly, did it all for a fair price, and was professional. He's also a genuinely nice guy who arrived early, worked hard and did a great job. As an added bonus, he's a marine veteran and small business owner, which I love to support. FULL REVIEW: I recently purchased two new "smart" door locks as a Kickstarter project. when they finally arrived (3 months late) they looked more difficult to install than normal locks, so I decided to have them professionally done. I found A Bright Locksmith on Google, and spoke with Andrew (the owner) when I called. He was very friendly, and quoted what I thought was a very fair price, so we scheduled an appointment for the next day. Andrew arrived early to the appointment, and went right to work. My instincts turned out to be correct - even thought he had installed other smart door locks in the past, Andrew said that mine (KeyWe brand) were more complicated than others he had seen. There was also an issue with these being a first-run Kickstarter project: one of the locks had a plastic clip stuck behind the circuit board, blocking the deadbolt action - and Andrew managed to get out without harming the lock at all. Ultimately, I am sure the job took much longer than he expected - but when he has done, he didn't hesitate to stick to the original cost estimate, which to me is one of the greatest signs of integrity a company can show! Andrew also mentioned he's a former marine who did three tours (two in the Middle East), and I loved having an opportunity to support our vets! Bottom line is that it was a great experience all around: he arrived early, worked hard, and did a great job.
