Beautiful spot to grab drinks or a meal in Algar Seco. It's situated near the water along some rock formations. Technically the name of the restaurant is Boneca Bar, so I'm not sure why it's listed as A Boneca on Yelp. My friend and I came here for lunch. We came on a weekday around 1 pm and there was a short line of people ahead of us, but luckily there was plenty of open seating and we all got seated quickly. I had a white sangria to start for 10€ and my friend had a small beer for 2€. The sangria was super refreshing on a hot September day. I asked about the fish of the day and our server listed a bunch of different options. I went with the swordfish for 26€, while my friend got the vegan hamburger for 15€. Prices are a bit on the pricy side here, but it makes sense with the nice views. I thought the food was okay but not amazing. My friend felt the same way. I've never had swordfish before, but I found it a bit dry and bland, so I probably won't get it again. Still, it was a nice ambiance and I loved sitting among the rocks with ocean views as I ate.

What a beautiful place to grab a bite and have a few drinks. Place was recommended by a local shop owner in town and I'm glad we went, food and service was great.

One of the only dining places on the cliff overlooking the water. Everything is outdoors. Fun vibe, good food and great drinks. The surrounding area is beautiful and worth a walk to this gem. We had the ribs and fish of the day. Very happy with this meal.

As we walked along the coast line of Carvoerio Portugal we stumbled across this hidden gem built right into the cliffside. Hands down the best view I've ever had while enjoying a meal. We started with drinks that were cheap and delicious and kept them coming throughout the meal. The sangria was next level and I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a refreshing treat. I love tequila and if that's your thing you should definitely get a tequila sunrise. To eat we got calamari rings as an app and both got a the chicken piri piri with fries for our meal. The calamari rings hit the spot as a tasty fried food snack to pair with the drinks. The chicken piri piri was a tender grilled chicken marinated in a sauce with some kick to it that we both enjoyed. Over all the food was pretty good but this is a must stop to take in the view and enjoy a drink or two while exploring the southern coast of Portugal!

I could have given 5 stars for this place given it is right next to the sea and there is a mini cave nearby to checkout. The food (especially the grilled) is superb. We ordered the chicken piri piri, ham, clams and all of them are very delicious. The cocktail drinks are very nice too. I think we ordered one with lemon flavor and one with coconut. The only reason why i need to take out one star is because on the night we went the place was so crowded and the restaurants was under staffed...so we had to wait quite a while before we could order or ask for bill. Probably not an issue for others as most of the people go there to chill and they are not in a rush!

Beautiful bar and restaurant looking over orange sandstone peaks and the ocean. We only went for drinks but while we were hanging out the phone never stopped ringing for reservations. By the time we left most of the tables were reserved, a good sign for this hidden gem. I will post the photos of the menu and you can see if there is something you'll enjoy. The location alone is worth stopping by this hidden beauty. There's a hidden cave which opens to a hole in the cliffs with a gorgeous view of the ocean. This is also a spot with a hidden swimming hole with steps down to the cavelike setting. On the other side are more adventurous spirits who were cliff jumping. Easy parking makes this a great spot to eat and drink at the beginning or end of a hike or swim. Definitely not to be missed. I'm so happy I found this spot. I will eat the next time I visit and will share the details. Enjoy! I would give it 5 stars but he servers had a bit of an attitude.

I rarely give 5 stars, but Boneca Bar & Restaurant deserve it. We visited in September, 2018. We stopped by during the afternoon on our first day to check out the establishment and view and to have a beer. We already had dinner reservations for both our nights and I knew I was going to have to change one to eat here. First of all, even if you are familiar with the views of the cliffs and sea in Carvoeiro and the Algarve, this place is special. It's very romantic. They do accept reservations and we suggest making them (in person or over the phone) as they probably seat around 35-50 tops. On both visits all of our servers and staff members we encountered were extremely polite and friendly. I want to give a shout out to Mara, Eunice, "Orlando" (his name sounds similar - I couldn't quite understand) and Marcos, who was behind the grill. "Orlando" was our server for dinner on our second visit. We let him know how pleased we were to see that they served Tagus beer on draught as we had had our fill of Sagres and Super Bock in Portugal. He let us know he was a wine fan, not a beer guy. So I asked if he liked vinho verde, a Portuguese wine that we adore. His eyes lit up and he recommended a bottle of Ameal Loureiro vinho verde that was €17. It was splendid and we ended up taking a bottle home to the USA. The menu is in Portuguese and English and they have a blackboard version outlining the fish available for the day. For dinner we shared a) Sopa de Peixa (spicy fish soup) €4.50; b) Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato (clams in wine, garlic & cliantro) €14; c) Ostras Algarvias (local oysters) €3 each; and, d) Espadarte (grilled swordfish) €17. Everything we had was simply divine. I went over to speak to Marcos, the man behind the grill, to let him know that in America, we would refer to him as a "grill master." He understood perfectly what I was saying. We highly recommend A Boneca! Not only was it the best meal we've had in Carvoeiro over two trips, it was the best meal we had period in Portugal over this trip. It's one of those rare finds. The next time we are in town, I intend upon eating there multiple times.

Everything we ordered was delicious from the clams bulhao to the arroz marisco to the Algarve tart (best algarve tart we had on our trip). Even the homemade garlic bread was good. Seafood all tasted fresh, staff was pleasant, and the restaurant had a catchy playlist going too. Only downside was how long it took to deliver our main course after starter. We were seated at a table near the front door; perhaps sit at a table closer to the front for better attention.

Jardim Rústico - Albufeira, Portugal…read more If you're anywhere near Albufeira and don't eat at Jardim Rústico, you're truly missing out. We spent a month in the Algarve and ended up dining here at least 10 out of 30 nights. We kept trying to find another restaurant that could compare--and never did. The food is authentic Portuguese cuisine at its finest. The clams, made from the owner's grandmother's recipe, are hands-down the best I've ever had in my life. Honestly, it doesn't matter what you order--everything on the menu is exceptional. Be adventurous. You won't regret it. The restaurant is family-owned and family-run, which adds so much to the experience. Vitor runs the kitchen and delivers incredible food every single night. His wife Ines runs the front with grace and warmth. Luan and Joah were there every evening we visited, offering some of the best service we've ever experienced anywhere--professional, kind, and genuinely caring. The ambiance is casual, quiet, and cozy--it truly feels like home. Every guest is welcomed like family, and this incredible team goes above and beyond to make each night memorable. If you go (and you absolutely should), tell them the Fanellas from Florida sent you. Jardim Rústico is a gem, and dining there was one of the highlights of our trip.

We got there right at 6 and they gave us one of only 2 remaining tables, telling us we had to be done by 7:30pm. We started with prosciutto & melon which was AMAZING!!!!! And reminded us of Italy. My children got the house style spaghetti which was a cream sauce with tomatoes and ham. Neither kid could get enough! The pasta was soooo tasty. My husband and I shared the Mixed Catalana for 2 - prawns and clams. It was the best meal we had during our almost 2 week trip to Portugal. The broth was so delicious I could've drank it with my spoon. It was loaded with veggies too. Came with white rice on the side and some fried potatoes. Also my husband got a glass of house red wine which was a very generous pour! They only take cash, which we did not know ahead of time. But luckily there's an ATM across the street. They turned tons of people away while we were eating. I guess their system is reservation only from 5:30-7:30pm and then after 7:30pm they allow walks in on a first come, first serve basis.
