They are very responsive, on time, professional and I would recommend to anyone that asks me about recycling electronic equipment.

The folks running the place have always been courteous / professional and when I check the prices for large weights and amounts they are competitive. If you ever want to see where all the broken and old stuff goes stop in here -like I do with my weekly aluminum cans- and you'll see neatly organized things, some of which I have no idea what they are or where they come from. Traffic is not an issue as they are not on the main drag, so getting in and out is pretty easy. They have 3 or 4 bays and someone is usually helpful loading and unloading my recyclables so I don't waste a lot of time. The thing I like the MOST if rather than taking it to the dump I get a few dollars in my pocket and feel like I am doing my part.

Weight was several hundred pounds. I took them to Arundel Recycling. My fault was not checking the weight tickets until this afternoon where I strongly feel I was shorted 100 to 200#'s of scrap weight. check your weight tickets before leaving. Better yet check the scale weight before he writes it down.

Akim was extremely helpful and efficient. (I didn't know how this would work.) They took everything I had including wires, (clean) aluminum foil and food trays, various steel hardware and pieces, and more. (I had kept the metal types separated.) I wasn't intending to get paid - just happy to have the metal recycled, but they offered to pay me! I use the Alpha Ridge Landfill (Howard County's waste center) for most of my "special waste" needs. Maryland Recycle seemed more organized for metals, and gave me more faith that things will actually be recycled. Alpha Ridge said they'd take anything, but their metal area is essentially just a large outdoor dropoff where all metal types are mixed together. I think it's probably okay for large steel appliances, but I'm skeptical about other things. E.g., I wasn't sure where loose things would go, and lightweight aluminum like foil would likely blow away (unless I put it in my own container).

So I've never recycled anything before so I wasn't sure what to do. I removed an aluminum awning…read morefrom my house and brought it here. Upon pulling in, you'll see a weigh scale directly in front of you, wait for the other vehicles to pull off of it, then pull on. Pull forward until you see the window to your left with the employee. It's towards the end of the scale. Here you will give them your driver's license and tell them what you have. "I have an aluminum awning." He/she will record your entrance weight. He will hand your license back and tell you where to go. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado loaded with leather and chrome and stick out like a sore thumb in this lot. There is debris everywhere so watch your tires. After unloading you'll exit to the same area you came in, but on the opposite side of the scale. Pull onto the scale and up to the first window on your left. Give them your last name and he/she will record your exit weight. Pull forward off the scale and park anywhere on the right without blocking the scale. Walk back to the scale with your license and go the second window this time. Hand them your ID and he/she will give you a receipt. Walking back towards your vehicle, at the end of the scale house there is an ATM type machine. Scan the barcode on the receipt and voila, your money will come out of the ATM!
