I finally reached someone on the telephone to ask where they moved to. I was told they were going to move to Chase but "the deal fell through " so George closed down and went out of business. They were the best of all recycling businesses I ever went to for over 50 years and will be missed. read more

Owl metals pays very well. There people are very nice and helpful. The owner himself is a regular guy you would never know he owns the place. I take my young son there and they actually help him and have showed him the different grades and types of metal. They showed him how to separate the different materials so he can get the most money for what he brings in. I highly recommend this place. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO OWL METALS THEY DON'T APPRECIATE IT. I had been going there for a while to take my aluminum to be recycled, mainly because they gave me a good price, were quick, and were close. Well after this past visit they have lost my business. This is after dealing with their supposed "vice president", a guy who looks like he just walked out of a hobo camp. This vice president, who rides around on his chariot of a fork lift, would rather mouth of a customers then take their business. Their sign says that they close at 4:30, their advertisement says they close at 4:30, but according to their vp they close a 4:15 (or that's "when you better be in line") because of the cars around the corner. Their were 3 cars ahead of me when i arrived, assuming that i stayed i would have been out before 4:30. And i was in line before 4:15, but he spent so much time mouthing off to the customer in front of me that by the time he got to me it was past. Then pulling into the facility the car in front of me stopped short, so i was hanging out in the road a little bit, this was after trying to maneuver my car so that i would not be blocking the street as much. Well Mr VP rode his chariot over to mouth off at me about sticking out to far into the street. First off the street was not blocked, second other than being a dick about it you could have asked if i could have pulled in further or if i could have backed out. No but he rather mouth off to his customers. Instead of riding around on his throne he could have told me to stop (or they could have a sign up saying as much as other places do), helped directed traffic, or asked of the car in front of me could pull up, which he more than enough room. But alas no, he rather be a jerk. Of course the traffic problem is a regular one at owl metals, how much would it take to have one of your guys guide the cars in since your set up is so crap (but i guess that as asking for too much). I hope this VP doesn't have anything to do with customer relations or marketing, because his customer service skills are a 0. Hey owl metals, instead of making your customers responsible for your failings as a business, why don't you do more to make them feel welcome, you're not the only metals recycler in town. Plus you should think about getting a new VP. read more

That was the best scrapping experience I've had at any place in Baltimore. We had a bunch of different kinds of metals that were basically presorted and they carefully went through and resorted everything properly. Everybody there was cool and cracking jokes. Paid us top dollar & threw in a couple free t-shirts. I was pleasantly surprised. read more

So had a Chance to Visit Owl Metals yesterday. Over all the whole experience leaves a lot to be desired. 1st off when you arrive to take meta, there is no real clear cut directions to where you actually go , signs are somewhat miss leading to where you go to unload. I got directed into back and had several large trucks want to run me over in yard. Finally go turned around and pointed in right direction to where to unload. The wait was minimal not a lot of room to get into building. I was waiting for a scraping sound from something sticking out but thankfully that did not happen. The Staff was friendly enough however lacked knowledge on computer stuff. I asked for someone with a bit more experience and he got their "computer Guy" He informs me that all motherboards are counted as the same reds, greens and laptop. OK Should of left at that point. Nope Stuck around . So have ram Gold fingers separated from Ones that are silver, He takes ram and Throws it on large scale, those things are good for above 5 # or so but gold finger ram is worth more than silver finger ram. and not by 4 cents a # .. So one to major Gripe had 35 processors over 1/2 were 386 and 486 . Now as their Web page shows what Processors bring the Money like the 386 ceramic ones I got 40 bucks for all the processors what a rip off. I would recommend researching and finding another local Metal recycler to take Computer Parts to. These guys are prolly ok for your basic Scrap metals but get into computer parts and your gonna get ripped OFF! read more
