Underwhelming is how I would describe Beer at a time. The bartender has the personality of a brick and acted like we were preventing him from getting a root canal. We ordered the brisket Mac N Cheese and it came out barely room temperature. It was a toddler portion of Mac N Cheese for $16. The flavored alcohol is like turpentine with snow cone flavoring. The brisket tacos were meh, nothing to write home about. I was also told that they don't have a specific type of alcohol because it's only 14% alcohol but my bottle at home says 21% alcohol. Really it just felt like we were a bother and it wasn't important if we had a good experience with the food or the employees. read more

Stopped by here heading to our nephews baseball game. BUSY on a Wednesday night but ample amounts of seating indoors and out. Had our favorite RMP beer from Boneyard and ordered a couple of sandwiches to go. We got the philly and Cuban and both were great. Loved the smoke brisket pineapple pizza! This is a great place once you understand the dynamics of you ordering at the bar your food and drinks, then go fend for yourself for a table. Plenty of outdoor seating. There was a band, Friday night. I enjoyed this simple and easy going atmosphere. Service was good, they have it dialed with moving quickly. My only comment is they are not has friendly or welcoming which would easily give them 5 stars, they get the job done. Even more smiling would make a huge difference. Definitely a great beet selection on draft. And a hand written list not that annoying tv screen BS other beer places have. I was fortunate both times to walk in with no one in line. I sat right across from the two cash registers which is where you have to order from and the line waited a very long time to get orders in. So if I wanted another round I'd have to stand in line for literally 20 minutes to order. Not happening. The pizza was raw in the middle so order the smallest one they make unless you don't care if it's undercooked. Mozzarella shouldn't be opaque and gooey. It's solid off-white when cooked properly. I liked the rheuben but my date didn't. Won't order the pizza again but it was better than chain pizza. We got the veggie with 1/2 no olive and 1/2 no peppers but got all olive all pepper. ?? read more

The beer selection is quite good, especially for a small town. Although the beer was a little warmer than you would expect from draft. The service was quite different depending who you dealt with. The staff was helpful and friendly but the manager was a bit gruff and a little inappropriate. The server told me how to order a beer flight but it wasn't as the manager liked so instead of training her employee off the side she made me feel as if I screwed up and then berated the employee for providing inaccurate instructions. She was gruff and not friendly, even though the place was not busy. The place had a relaxed atmosphere and I liked the log rounds that housed the beer flights. There is a waitress here that always remembers our last beer order and brings us samples of new beers to try. She is awesome! The food is always hit and miss. It comes out different every time. The meat on taco Tuesday seems to be unseasoned. They really need to improve on that. The tacos do arrive with a generous amount of meat and then you have the taco bar to fix it the way you like it. The beer was good, the food was mediocre and the service was lousy. To start, you have to get in line to order your food at the bar. If you want another beer or to add to your order, you have to get up from your table, wait in a long ass line and order again. That might work okay if the employees knew where the line was. People were standing in all different directions and walking up with no regard for the designated area for the line. The people taking the order said nothing and did nothing which was super obnoxious, but lent to the overall unorganized ambiance. They had signs up at every ordering station that said NO PIZZA which unfortunately is what my kids wanted. We made do and ordered something else, but when we got to the table, we see a bunch of pizzas being carried out. Soooo... you weren't out of pizza? Next, it was self-serve for water and utensils. That might be okay but made me pretty leery to know that during a pandemic, any customer could stick their grubby hand in the fork bin to grab the same utensil I was going to eat with. The food came out and I wasn't impressed at all. The nachos were pulled pork on top of canned nacho cheese, the chicken sandwich had dried up lunch meat from being placed in the warmer and they forgot the apple sauce for my toddler's kids meal. Someone who seemed like the owner gave one of my buddies a tough time when he was trying to explain we already had a tab open, rudely shushed him and told him to stop talking, never addressed it, and tried to be chummy with the rest of us. OK it's been two years since my last review when I said we'd never to again but when you have friends that we love say, hey we'll meet you at ABAAT it's kind of a d$ck move to wine, no we don't like this place :-) So we went with our friends and even though we're not completely sold on it, it does seem to be a decent place to hang out now. The folks behind the bar are very nice and "normal" it's not a college frat hangout anymore. Music is pretty loud but we went all the way to the back so we could talk and it was fine. Food seems the same, pretty much pizza and wings which we ordered and it was good. Lot's of people here and Shelby's doing a decent job. Excellent selection of beer and cider although I still think they should have more local cider choices but I know that's difficult to do in reality. We probably won't make a special trip to come by ourselves but will definitely be happy to join our friends anytime they want. We went to A Beer at a Time for lunch today, our first visit. A really nice space, roomy and comfortable. I think they have 51 brews on tap, and one of them was actually an excellent Pilsner, here, deep in the heart of IPA country. The menu is varied in the sandwich, salad and pizza areas, with some other options. Decisions . . . we'll come back for pizza. Our beers were both great, the current Pilsner and the Kolsch, Ms. had the "burnt ends" sandwich, I had the Italian grinder. Chips for me, fries for her. Pickles all around. The sandwiches were both excellent, she liked the BBQ sauce and the "burnt" ends had enough good brisket attached to make it right. The Italian was "all that", a great mix of flavors, built in to keep the bread from getting soggy, not oily in the least, and on really nicely textured tasty bread. As everywhere these days, $50 is the new $20 for lunch, but A Beer at a Time is on a par with anything else out there for service, selection, quality. read more

The bartender was nice enough to let us sample half a dozen things before making a final selection. The menu on their website has NOT been updated (or hadn't when we stopped in) so note that it now mostly includes chicken wings and pizza. No sandwiches. Someone worded it perfectly in a previous review, this is definitely for the locals. The staff was not very welcoming, on the contrary they were just plain rude. I know it's just a local bar in a small town but a little friendliness can still go a long way. Plus they pick and choose who they want to assist/ ask how things are going. If you're an outsider, not from the area, or just don't look like the typical local here then don't expect much. Beer at a Time is the kind of place that will keep me anchored to this side of the river without feeling that I'm missing anything in Portland. Such a cool atmosphere with a stellar drink menu. There's a huge space in back that can be reserved for special occasions. They have a small stage for live music which usually happens on weekends and is advertised on their website. Food is great, pizza really good, but I mainly go for drinks and ambience. It feels like an old auto shop converted or something which gives it this really unique look and feel. Love this place and it is my go-to for drinks and a great place to hang out in Camas! read more

Excellent food, fast service and great staff as well. I like the wood tables and chairs, they're really pretty and solid. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and her sense of urgency to make sure you're having a good experience is evident and appreciated. It's clear she cares about each customer. I love the ambiance however the staff isn't so friendly. I was hankering for a burger so I ordered the bacon blue cheese burger with fries. What I got was a double bacon blue cheese burger. I know I shouldn't complain but it doesn't state that it's two patties which is way too much for me. And if you like super crunchy fries this place is for you. It was as if they fried them twice or something. Not my favorite. I paid almost $30 for a wine and burger! Holy crap! read more
