I wrote a negative review last month regarding my experience with American River Fence Co. Since…read morethat review, Joe reached out to me and made an effort to resolve my issue and retain my business. He offered to reduce the cost from 7k down to 5700. Additionally, he kept the install date on our original schedule. Because Joe took the initiative to call me, even after our last conversation, which didn't end well, and make an attempt to make things right, I agreed to give American River one more chance. I am glad that I took the chance because my fence is finally done and it looks amazing. Which I knew they did good work. That was never In question. But overall, I am thankful that we got it done, at a fair price and I can say that I walked away satisfied. Which at the end of the day is what's most important. Now my kids can play outside safely and I'm a happy dad :)

We are retired senior citizens who live in Citrus Heights duplex on Kingswood Dr. We decided to…read morereplace approximately 130 feet of fence and a retaining wall. We contacted American River Fence for a quote to replace all. On 1/7/22 Joe Pike, from American River Fence quoted us a price of $8557.50 which I agreed to. We took out a loan to cover the cost of labor and materials. In our subsequent discussion Mr Pike was informed that the existing fence afforded us no privacy and we needed the new fence to correct the problem. I am an 87 year old cancer victim and have been spending a significant amount of time in and out of the hospital. When the first portion was completed, I noticed that I had good visibility into my neighbor's yard because of the wide gaps between the redwood pickets.Unfortunately, I got sick again and spent more time in the hospital. When I returned, the second portion of the fence had been completed and I could see my neighbor's pool through the picket fence gaps. I contacted Mr. Pike , he came to my home and witnessed my complaint advising me that the gaps are for when the wood got wet, it would have room to expand and I informed him that his workers had informed me the wood was green and very heavy when installed. I told Mr. Pike that the pickets were now beginning to dry out and the gaps were getting wider and worsening the problem. He said the fence is merely a barrier and not a privacy fence (which I had ask for). I suspect the the uneven gaps were to save on redwood pickets. Anyway Mr. Pike's solution was to install 2 inch wood slats to cover all the gaps on only approximately 50 feet of fence. (The only area that was visible from the back patio) for an additional $1,000 which I agreed to. I tried to contact him the next three days waiting for the same $1,000 written quote which never came. On the third day he called to inform me that he needed an additional $700 dollars to perform the work. The total price of all labor and materials was now up to $10,257.50. As we could not afford to borrow more money we decided that we were stuck with an inferior fence and declined the second quote. At best evaluation: I would rate American River Fence as a 2 STAR facility.

Phil from Zacarias Landscaping is very knowledgeable about sprinkler systems and fences.  I had a…read moredifferent fence guy/gardener who had just added a valve to my sprinkler system to cover more areas. Right after he was done, however, the sprinkler system stopped working!  The timer said that the sprinklers were being turned on but there was no water coming. The person who had done that work didn't know what to do and suggested that I replace the sprinkler timer for a more expensive model.  His suggestion didn't convince me, so I looked at Nextdoor.com and Yelp, and I found Phil. It only took him 10-15 minutes to find the problem: the previous guy had left a wire disconnected.  Phil's quick diagnosis for my sprinkler system troubles saved me a lot of hassles. Phil also changed a broken post on my fence; a post that had been ignored by the previous guy. Phil told me he had a lot of years of fence and gardening experience in the Bay Area. He is not only knowledgeable but also a very nice person. He charges reasonable prices. It's a blessing to have him as a neighbor.

No problem, I get that stuff happens and that schedules change. The appointment gets rescheduled to Friday afternoon, and they called to cancel the same day as the appointment saying they forgot they had another project. At this point I'd say the customer service is really poor, and scheduling is unreliable. Definitely moving on to another company.

Our farmhouse restoration required demolition of a 50s-era chimney that was leaning. Joe and his son put up a new chimney that looks both far more beautiful than the original, and appears to have always been there. And they did it in 3 days. We really appreciate their beautiful craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Adrian came out and really walked us though the process providing excellent ideas for additional features to make our backyard complete. Our makeover included concrete (stamped and non-stamped), driveway widening, sod, retaining wall, irrigation, mulch, drip system, and everything that goes with those things. We love everything so far. Some of the sod needed extra watering and Adrian came out about a week after the job was complete and added a whole extra sprinkler head to fix the problem. He regularly checks in like this to make sure plants are thriving and all his work is holding up. Great customer service.

We ran into a very tricky situation, since we store a boat in our garage and the new and standard "roll-up" type garage doors could not be installed. We needed to rebuild the old door so I contacted several companies, and felt most confident in Solid General to rebuild the door after a recommendation I read online. I have never had a smoother more worry free experience when dealing with contractors before. Nick B. and his team arrived early and ready to work. They had a clear plan they explained to me clearly and I felt confident they could get the job done. They began work right away, showed me any changes of plans as they came along and explained them thoroughly and completely...no surprises! The construction went smooth and without any major problems. All of the workers were beyond professional and polite. Even our neighbors (whom we are good friends with) commented on their friendliness and grabbed business cards from Nick and Solid Construction. They were so pleasant and worked so hard throughout the day without breaking that my fiance and myself even went and bought the whole crew dinner. Well worth it for the good work. The door was put back together before nightfall, and they continued detail work into the dusk, refusing to finish until the job was perfect. I was happy because I didn't want to come home from work a 2nd day! MUCH appreciated. Our garage door is now twice as sturdy as it was before, in a way it was a blessing that the old door was destroyed, we got an upgrade and feel safer about our valuables in the garage. I was so impressed with the work, that I had Nick take a look at our deck in the backyard that is starting to show signs of rot. He quickly showed me how he would go about fixing it and provided me a quote once he had all his info before the other job was even finished. We hired them to fix our deck as well and can't wait to have them back. We will surely be buying them dinner again and look forward to them helping with our home remodel (bathroom, kitchen) in the future. A+++++++ You WON'T be disappointed.
