Had a great papa burger and root beer float. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. I really like the retro style of this particular A&W building with the covered outdoor carport and outdoor seating---you rarely see these anymore and somehow this one has survived! read more

Although prices have gone up throughout time, these meals are still worth the buck. To be completely honest, I sometimes have a couple of white tears that crawl down my leg from how good the root bear floats are at this joint!! Coney Chili Cheese dogg 2 DIE 4, OG hollister spot!! Totally recommend. read more

I love A & W Especially love, the cheese curds and every once in a while, they get Suraci cheese curds. It is one of my favorite weaknesses. I could eat at any time, but I refrained myself, and I only go once every three or four months, if even that, but I do love to place the price is OK. Easy to get in is if you get out, please come in. Have a good meal. Please tip and clean up after yourself. read more

I'm so happy to have found another A&W location after they closed the one in Gilroy! I get nostalgic vibes seeing the old school lay out! The Papa Burger is a MUST grab! The cheese blends in perfectly with every bite, it is soft and juicy, a great burger The two young men worked great during the evening rush. We got our order quick like a drive-thru! Also love the chili cheese fries, that stay crispy unlike others. If you're from the area this is a staple in the community definitely going back while I work in town. It's been a long time since we went to a fast food joint that made the calories totally worth it. The fries were made to perfection, root beer float was perfect, and hamburger while not amazing was fresh and juicy. We tried the dill pickle cheese curds and they were surprisingly good. We just had cheese curds a few times in Wisconsin and those were not as good as the ones we had here. Thanks for making fast food like I remember it! read more

A&W Rootbeer is so good when you get it straight from their restaurant versus from the bottle or can! They claim it's made on site and I totally believe them. I've now had it at two different locations and it's consistent. It honestly tastes like it has half the sugar of regular soda for some reason. They have a 2 for $6.50 deal and you can mix and match from the listed items like root beer float, chili cheese fries, burgers, hot dog, etc. ROOT BEER FLOAT: Ok you'd think this would just be a super sugary drink but it was awesome! The soft serve had a nice vanilla flavor and well, you know how I feel about the rootbeer. Recommend! CHILI CHEESE FRIES: Perfectly crispy fries and the chili wasn't salty like I expected. I was pleasant surprised and enjoyed this one. I wish it was a bigger portion though! Recommend! read more

The owners don't care about their staff. They refuse to have a stool or chair in building so the staff have to be standing their entire shift and their feet are killing them by end of day. The worst is that the staff have to work in extreme heat because they don't have air conditioning or even a fan. The Hollister heat in a confined space while making hamburgers on a stove makes the staff want to faint from heat stroke! Owners don't care. read more

The best A & W location and food ever! I've been to other A & W and the food didn't taste right at all. But this location's food was much tastier and more fresh. The burger was cooked all the way, the bacon wasn't dried out, and the root beer shake tasted incredibly amazing! Not too much ice cream but just the right amount! Me and my bf would def come to this location after our hikes at pinnacles (maybe not all the time but majority of the time) read more

This place is amazing. It's a must stop. I grew up with an independently owned A&E in my home town that had car hop service. It no longer exists in my home town but when I see other A&Ws around I stop and you should too. The building is original and the service is great. But the food is AMAZING!! I ordered the papas burger , a root beer float and onion rings and fries. I will go back for sure... and I only was driving through the area. We had a detour and that's why I found it, by accident. The menu is vast and delicious, it's a must stop. read more

This place deserves better rating the food is so good and the root beer is the best these are the best burgers ever

Oh yes, another great lunch, but don't tell too many people. Fries are so so good. Root beer is to die for and real. We love this place. Sure, it is nice to dine in more expensive places, but hope this place is here forever. Staff is exceptional. Yum read more

The guy in charge has a bad drug habit , he looks horrible and SCaReY ! I don't trust him , my food has come out wrong the last two times , he got very argumentative with me I waited a while and went one more time , he was still there ! He looked worse then the time before !! Well I ordered and didn't say a word , I ended up getting food poisoning!! , I decided I wouldn't eat there anymore and I'm glad .. that was 3 years ago ! It's taken me this long to actually write this review, I don't mean harm to or on anyone, I often pray for that guy hoping he'd get help god bless Aand W I'm just sure the buissness can't be doing that great having him run it ? He isn't well at all read more

Amazing food the best A&W in the area and service is fantastic the only complaint I have is the bathrooms are dirty. All the other A&Ws that are connected with KFCs are so terrible read more

Ive gone there almost every other week and the root beer floats are amazing. Keep up the good work

Just got to Hollister to visit family & my first stop is gonna be A&W it's the only place I'll eat a burger. None of the fancy burger place can compete with Hollister's A&W. Yummy read more

Can't go wrong with any burger here! I've been going since living in Hollister for 3 years and everything is always fresh and service is friendly. read more

Used to love this place, was my family of five go to. But now it takes FOrEVER to get the food. 20-30 minutes, it's longer than restaurants make me wait read more

Ordered a burger without Mayo through door dash since the person eating it has an egg allergy. Dasher even double checked there was no egg but it seems they were lied too. Some the burger arrived with Mayo on it. That's flagrantly dangerous. Do not order if you have a food allergy from these guys. They apparently not only don't care but will actually lie about it. read more

Went yesterday was looking at the menu outside and was like what to get... as I focused to look at the menu I saw hella flys just chilling on the plexie glass and was disgusted and more than a few should've taken a picture and plus I was thinking if there's hella flys out here what makes you think there's some inside read more

This place brings back childhood memories when my mother would take my sister and I to eat after coming back from Salinas, where she worked. This was around 1983-84 and I recall a music/record store next door back then. Amazing it looks almost exactly the same and I would always order nachos Moms been gone 14 years now but I cherish these simple memories. read more

Popular place. Finally got a chance to try it. Price was right: $5 for a deluxe burger & a root beer float. Comparing burger to the best fast one = In-N-Out, shredded lettuce just does not cut it compared to whole leaf iceberg; burger meat paddy itself was thin & tasteless, like most fast food burgers. And the root beer float? You would think that at a Root Beer Stand this item would stand out? Not so, probably because they use cheap ice cream that doesn't blend well with their ice cream. read more

Always gotten great cheap food from here. Been here at least 6 times and unfortunately ive never gotten good service once. Workers are always super rude for no reason and food takes a long time even if i order ahead on doordash. read more

Great food and great people, always clean and they play very nice music, you do have to ask for a key for the bathroom here but that just makes it more cleaner read more

I'm a bit bias when it comes to this establishment as I have been coming here since I was a boy and will continue to do so till the day I die. Love their burgers especially the Double Bacon Cheese (Teen Burger back in the day) and their fries are to second to none, and of course can't forget the Root Beer. I drink diet soda and this is the only time I indulge in sugar based soda. Can't go wrong, Love A&W . read more

As fast food goes A and W is not to bad. They usually have a promotion going with a cheap burger for about a dollar and the root beer floats here are the bomb. Everything outta the fryer ends up tasting pretty good too and the payphone here use to only cost 20 cents for the longest time even after most of them charged 35 or 50 cents. read more

Feeling nostalgic and want to relive the height of fast food tastes from the 80's? Here you go! Food is very standard and left me feeling like I've eaten this burger before, years ago. Not necessarily a good thing. read more

Been along time since I have eaten at A&W. Still sooo good. Quick and courteous order takers. I'll be back

Yum! I love A & W. The current owner is really doing a fine job. As far as fast food goes it's a little $$ but it's quality compared to Mc Donalds or BK. read more

It was exactly like the A&W meal from my childhood and filled me up with nostalgia and happy memories of sitting next to my parents eating a whistle dog. Too bad it also filled me up with grease and indigestion. Man, have my tastebuds changed!! Also they don't give you big iced glass mugs to enjoy your rootbeer from anymore! Totally cute and authentic 1950s A&W style and taste, but I have such a high bar set from the ones I went to as a child that I think it is better left as a good and distant memory for me. read more

I believe this place has a new owner, since then I have seen an increse in the quality of food and service.

When I stop here, I get the root beer float with a side of bacon burger and fries.Yum , Yum. Watch out for their mailers, there are some great deals in those. Super busy during cannery season so I would avoid lunchtime while the cannery is operating. read more

Food is good, but the ownership here really ticks off their customers/potential customers. A&W launches national campaigns for various items, but this franchisee doesn't follow them. So; walk up with coupon in hand for whatever and its a roll of the dice if they will honor it. So very shortsighted, they need to really understand what a bad experience that is for customers.. read more

The food is always prepared fresh and is always delicious. Their customer service is even better, Cesar and the owner Monte are both kind and warm and always remember me, and my boyfriend by name as well as our orders. The food is great, but this is the second time I've visited here with my family and the guy at the register almost makes you feel bad for ordering food lol not sure if they are short handed or what's going on. But we won't be back. Hospitality gets no stars in my opinion. read more
