As I was about walk over to the drugstore, I saw an ad for Harvey's. I could get two hamburgers for $8. My first question: Where's Harvey's? I am obviously a non-resident of Richmond Hill. I looked over to my right. Harvey's was to the right of the drugstore, next to Subway. I don't frequent this plaza often. It was cool to see a standalone Harvey's. It felt rare to me. It wasn't a combo store with Swiss Chalet. It had no drive-thru. It was a pleasant change. I hadn't had lunch. It was the perfect place to grab a bite to eat. After I was done at Shoppers Drug Mart, I placed my items in my car and headed over to Harvey's. It's a spacious eatery. I liked it. There was a bit of a lineup to place an order. There were two older folks ahead of me. I liked how patient and kind the man at the cashier was with them. He answered all their questions. He was also so patient seeing the man count all his change before handing it over. This man at the order area was equally as nice to me. I took advantage of this $8 deal, getting one beef burger and one veggie burger. I also got a medium Diet Pepsi. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I then waited patiently for the burgers to be ready for their toppings. I had a woman help with them. I got lettuce, tomato and cucumber slices, garlic mayo, and relish on the first burger. I also wanted the same ingredients on the second burger and she remembered everything. I appreciated her memory recall. I thanked her for her help and wished her a great day. I saw a smile on her face. She seemed happy that I said a bit more than thanks. She reciprocated. I sat down at a table closest to the wall. I was facing the window. I then chowed down. Both burgers were so good. Harvey's does make a beautiful thing when it comes to burgers. The beef and veggie patties were charbroiled perfectly. The beef was yummy, along with the toppings. I like the veggie burger at Harvey's. It's a good veggie patty that doesn't taste like cardboard. It's done well that both vegans and carnivores alike crave it because it's genuinely delicious. My Diet Pepsi was cold and yummy. It hit the spot while helping to wash everything down. This eatery was clean and inviting. There was a TV showing CP24. I wasn't facing it while I dined in. I liked seeing cars go by outside. I'm glad that I stopped by to grab a bite to eat. It was a great find. I look forward to returning when I'm in the area. (48)

So back in the 90's, I used to frequent the very first, ORIGINAL Harvey's location at Yonge and Observatory Lane. That was when Harvey's was at its peak so to speak. I would order a burger, onion rings and get some Church's chicken too (which is super underrated btw). Anyways, somewhere around 2010, Cara Operations (the parent company of Harvey's) started tampering w/ the burger patty recipe because it tasted VERY different. Almost as if there was soy protein added or something. Fast forward, to 2013 to 2014-ish the angus burger was unveiled and after trying that I've never looked back. A lot of ppl (including my parents) tell me they can't taste the difference between the classic burger and the angus. But it's very apparent. The angus burger meat is WAY beefier, WAY juicier and doesn't have that "soy" aftertaste to it. Whenever I see an angus meal deal pop up on my Flipp mobile app, I'm usually jumping on it because at this location the service is great (no attitude given if I want to overload my burger w/ toppings and sauce) and the food is prepared well (fries and onion rings are always crispy). I do agree w/ fellow reviewer, Brenda H though. It's a shame they are partnered w/ PepsiCo. The only pepsi product I actually like is Mountain Dew (specific flavours only too). I got an uncle bacon cheddar burger (comes with a 5 oz patty) with a side of sweet potato fries, spicy mayo and OF COURSE you know I had to go with A&W root beer. The night shift worker was really nice and I could see him being kind to several homeless peeps who came in and needed to warm up. My order consisted of these items: - Whopper - Onion rings - Medium fountain drink - Strawberry sundae I got an estimated pickup time. I specified that I was dining in. I also earned crowns (rewards points) towards free food and more. I walked in. It was spacious. It felt inviting here. It was fairly busy when I got here at roughly 4 pm. I saw the order pickup sign on the left and headed over there. Ordering in advance felt like I was in a VIP line. A helpful female staffer found my order with my name, but it was in a paper bag. She quickly fixed the issue by taking everything out and putting them on a tray. She then let me know that she's make my sundae. She exhibited excellent customer service. I appreciated her clear communication. While I waited for my sundae, I hit the drink machine and got a Diet Coke. I ended up refilling my cup twice. It wasn't enough to wash down all my food. The bun held everything together. The beef patty was delicious. It was satisfying to devour. The strawberry sundae is my favourite dessert here. The vanilla soft serve with the strawberry sauce was so good. It's the real sliced strawberries in the sauce that make this sundae excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I used the washroom twice. The first time was shortly after I got my order. It's nice that you can put your tray down with food on a table and no one will swipe it. I used it again before I left. I asked why food would be prepared so early especially when the order was placed only five minutes prior and they had no explanation. When I said I did not want cold food, I was told to request a refund through the Burger King app. I then asked for the order to be remade fresh. Instead, I was told I would need to drive back around, place a new order, and pay for it again, even though I was already at the window and the issue was entirely on their end. Between the cold food, refusal to correct the mistake, and dismissive attitude, this was an extremely poor experience. I will never return to this location again.
