I found out that Harvey's has a deal with its original beef and veggie burgers. You can get two for $8. If you want to mix and match them, it all works. I had no idea where the nearest Harvey's was from the borders of Toronto, Scarborough, and Markham. I did a search and realized that there's this one further south on Victoria Park, before you hit highway 401. It's funny. I have blown past this location many times. I've never stopped by. I also knew that there was an Chinese grocery store in the same plaza. Here's to another cool stop at two stores that I needed. The drive down was smooth. It took perhaps ten minutes. I had to make a left turn into the plaza. It took a bit of time, but I eventually made a safe turn. I did grocery shopping first. I had backed into a spot that directly faced the drive-thru, steps away from the grocery store's entrance. When I was done, I simply drove straight ahead to place my order at the drive-thru. I had a nice woman on the other end taking my order. I ordered two original beef burgers. I went with my standard toppings on both: lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, and relish. She was so friendly. There was a bit of a wait, but I didn't mind. This Harvey's is also a Swiss Chalet. Excellent! I was drooling looking at the poutine on the menu. I love poutine. Harvey's does poutine well. I paid with a debit card. The woman had the payment machine taped to a hockey stick. Love! The transaction was smooth. I wonder if that hockey stick is ever used on deadbeat customers who don't pay. Hmm... I got my food in a paper bag. I thanked her and left. When I got home, I had my food. I loved the original burger. It was the right size. The flame-broiled beef patty was yummy. The toppings were perfect. I was a bit rusty and realized that my usual mayo is garlic mayo. These burgers hit the spot for dinner. The next day, I returned for the same deal. Yep, I was back less than 24 hours later. Instead, I got original and veggie burgers. With the latter, you have the option of getting a regular or multigrain bun. I had never had the multigrain bun before, so I chose it. The veggie burger is pretty good here. It tastes like a regular beef patty. It wasn't dry. It had good flavour. I'd do it again. The multigrain bun made me feel like I was eating healthier... haha! I went with garlic mayo, along with lettuce, tomatoes, and relish. Both burgers tasted much better. Garlic is everything. I dig this Harvey's. I need to get poutine next time, but I keep dreaming about this burger deal. Maybe when it's gone, I'll get the poutine. I needed to use the washroom. I parked fairly close to the drive-thru entrance and walked over to the eatery. I entered the door. The washrooms are conveniently on the left when you walk in. The women's washroom was clean. There were a couple of stalls. The one that I used was in decent shape. This eatery has a few self-serve kiosks to place your order. The order counter was fairly busy with customers waiting for their food. I decided to head to my car and place an order online through Burger King's online site. It was nice to check out deals and place my order in the comfort of my car. I got the classic chicken sandwich as a combo. I got fries and a medium Diet Coke as part of this combo. I got an estimated time when my order would be ready. I was so close to the drive-thru entrance that I didn't have enough room to enter it in one shot. I ended up parking at another spot, which would allow me to enter the drive-thru without ruining my car once my order was ready. There were two cars ahead of mine when I did hit the drive-thru. The line moved quickly. I let the woman know at the order area that I had an order in my name. She found my order and said that I could drive up. This woman was friendly and nice. I got her at the window. She handed me my drink and food. I thanked her, put my food in an insulated bag, and drove home. I love a classic chicken sandwich. It was yummy. The chicken was delicious with the mayo and lettuce. I loved the long sandwich bun. Yum! The fries are so much better these days. The potato skins are left on the tips of each fry. The egg was the scramble style made in a round mold. The hashbrowns were bite size full of potato goodness. I don't usually big up fast food but this one hit the spot. The dining room is modern, clean and spacious. This location did go through a brand refresh to make it look more appealing. I was the only person at the order area, which is shared between the two eateries. It took a while for the man at Boardwalk to come over. He was making burgers. I ordered these items: - Strawberry shake without whipped cream - Dubai chocolate brownie I paid with a credit card. Done. Communication is an issue here. This man continued making burgers and fries. He didn't let me know how long it would take to make my order. I wasn't in a rush, but I didn't know that it would take fifteen minutes for two folks to try and make my milkshake. I did like that the press for the burgers automatically came down on the patties and had a timer. I also watched fries go into hot oil and the basket automatically come up once the fries were done. It was also on a timer. I noticed that burger man got Lava guy to make my shake. They both went into the back. Burger man came back to assemble the burgers. Lava guy was still in the back. I hadn't ordered anything from any A&W in a while and their menu selection is actually quite good. I wonder how their Beyond Meat Burger sales are doing actually since it's been added to their menu for at least several months now. I only ordered the Beyond Meat Burger to try (no fries for me). (The Beyond Meat patty is made from plants, topped with lettuce, red onion, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise, served on a freshly toasted sesame seed bun.) The patty was quite good and the texture was so akin to actual beef. The inventors did a great job to make it look and taste like real meat. I felt good eating it. The only thing was that the burger itself didn't contain a lot of ketchup or sauce with it, so it was a tad dry. I guess I have to add in those condiments myself. Either way, I really enjoyed this vegan (more veggies) choice while at the food court in a typical shopping mall. I find that the root beer quality is highly inconsistent depending on the franchise location. For example, the Sheppard and Birchmount A&W location has some of the best root beer in the GTA. They serve you the root beer in CHILLED glasses and the root beer is also very fizzy. Perhaps it was because this A&W is part of the food court? The burger patties could've also been hotter when biting into them. I must echo what one other reviewer said about the temperature. Also, while the sides tasted good, the sweet potato fries should've been in the fryer longer (a lot of them were limp and not crispy). The onion rings were also not battered well. The coating was basically flaking off of each piece when I picked them up.
