I've been to Gastropubs with their higher prices and expensive interior and their Burger & Fries weren't nearly as good as this place. The Swiss Mushroom Burger. - The beef so tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned served right off the grill. - The Mushrooms were sauteed al dente. Not raw. Not floppy. Perfect. - The Bun and the melted Swiss cheese were at it like a perfect Tango. ..............The aroma of all this had me smiling before I even had my first bite. The Curly Garlic Fries. - You could feel and taste the crisp ridges of the cut of the fry gently but justly coated in fresh garlic....finishing off with the taste of moist potato flakes inside. Their service was impressively good. Their genuine approach to serving you, follow up table checkups and friendly demeanor from all staff was...frankly...beautiful to see. I've tried all the Fatburgers in Vancouver. How do I feel about this place? Let's just say....I'll be driving to Coquitlam from now on to quench my Burger & Fries craving. Yup. Worth it.

Maybe A&W philosophy is different than others but I thought food was supposed to be hot and the soda was supposed to be cold. When I went to eat it, both burgers were almost ice cold (after a 5 minute drive home) and the soda was warm because there was no ice. This was what I got to enjoy after waiting almost 10 minutes in a "fast food" drive thru. You'd think after waiting so long, the food would be hot because they are preparing it fresh. And it was overpriced, teen combo and a small chubby chicken was $19.43!!! It was also the smallest burger I've ever had.

I tried two sandwiches: the Haida Hot, rated 4/5 and priced at $17.99, and the Haida Royal, rated 3/5 at $21.99. I also ordered a small pizza, the Haida Pizza, which was rated 3/5 and costs $16.99. Both sandwiches were good; the bread was crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. They were a decent size and made neatly, the addition of hickory stick chips inside the sandwiches is a interesting touch. The pizza was okay, but for its small size, it would be best suited for a child to eat on their own. The size reminded me of the pizza that McDonald's used to offer, and at $17, I found it a bit steep. Overall, the service was good. The staff recommended the most popular items, which was helpful since it was my first visit to Haida. However, I do think the prices are a bit high for what you get.

The pancakes were also tasty, well made. The thing with this place is.....don't let the exterior fool you. From the outside I almost skipped the place....it just didn't entice, but when I walked in it was this cute cozy little traditional American style Diner. Very endearing. A place you could sit for hours. I liked the environment right away and the service was attentive. They also played 80's American hits that totally went with the vibe. They have a great menu. A little bit of everything for many occasions. The prices also are fair, which is something that is going extinct in Vancouver. Even though my dish was not eatable, the atmosphere and other menu options looked really good. Just whatever you do....don't order their Mediterranean Benny. LOL.
