I would say that 20 years ago this was a top notch pizza place in Az. Lately it is not as good or consistent as it once was.

We ordered a large pepperoni and sausage pizza and Calamari. The Calamari was not completely cooked and was the saltiest that I had ever had, it was gross. The pizza was good but the sausage was cut in 1 inch wide strips which was weird. Their prices are very high in comparison to other pizza's in the area. DON'T EVER BUY THE CALAMARI!!!!! read more

My husband got the chef salad special which was giant and loaded with protein and fresh veggies; I got the fettuccine Alfredo dinner which has dinner salad too which I order with Italian dressing which makes a marinaded salad; yum! The special was a 1 topping pizza, the picture was of a pepperoni pizza - One could reasonably assume that that indicated the special 1 topping pizza was a pepperoni pizza. The bread is made fresh and boyyyyyy is it good! The sandwich came out nice and not! The bread was so soft and delicious. The locals or locos will say that this place is hit or miss. I've not been twice and both times were a hit. Melissa, who's moving on to bigger and better things for her life, is one of the best servers that I've ever had in my traveling. This is a family owned and operated business. These types of business are the life blood of small towns. The locals should be thankful for such a place. It's kinda like Cheers, where everyone knows everyone. As an outsider, I was welcomed in. That's saying something! It's a pizza joint, with hints of Italian culinary that hit the spot both times that I've visited. It's like you're family the instant that you walk in. There's big tables for a big get together. Tonight, there was a get together that had probably 20 people all sitting at the "same" table. I loved seeing it. The food is great, but really what makes this place is the service. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food that you get delivered to your table. One of the very few restaurants in Florence, so there's no need to really try. I have unfortunately had to dine here numerous times due to its proximity to work. The people are nice so I hate to leave a bad reviews, but I've had multiple dishes from pizza rolls burgers to salads etc, and it's all bad. It's not the worst you'll ever have and it's not going to kill you or anything, but none of it tastes good. Go elsewhere. read more

So I come here quite often when I'm visiting family in town. Normally we have a great experience here good food and service. Tonight was the exception they was a large family in the main area. Normally no biggie however they allowed their child to continue to yell and scream. We asked staff to intervene so we could enjoy our meal. They refused to speak to them and allowed it to continue. They found it acceptable even though we are repeat customers and they didn't care if they lost our business. This isn't acceptable in anyway shape or form. They should have spoken to the family in this situation we couldn't believe the staff isn't trained properly to handle this so everyone can enjoy their meals and have a pleasant experience. My wife and I have lived in Florence for well over 20 years, and we remember when A&M was THE place to go eat. We were there at least once per week for pizza, subs, salads, pretty much everything on the menu. We ordered a philly cheesesteak sub, fries and a grilled chicken Caesar salad. They forgot the roll and Caesar salad dressing for my wife's salad, the fries were a bit overcooked, and my sub had what looked like some sort of meat with onions in it. I cannot truly identify it as a philly cheesesteak sandwich. Just for context, this was on a Sunday afternoon, and when I went to pick up the order, there were maybe two people in the place and the parking lot was empty. It's just disappointing. Their food is extremely hit-or-miss when ordering. The pizza is typically good, but occasionally it does come soggy with oil or they skimped on the toppings. I would like to see them get their quality back up consistently to justify their price increases over the years. read more

As you look at the percentage of reviews and you see that a place like this has 1/2 bad and 1/2 good, ask yourself why that might be. This place suffers from an arrogant and obnoxious owner who could care less about the customers. I was told that in this Friday evening that it's busy. It will be 50 minutes for my pizza to be ready. I got a text 15 minutes later that my pizza was ready. 35 minutes before it was supposed to be. I don't call and come and get an old pizza. I spoke to the uncaring pizza maker/manager and he said, hey it's an estimate. Too bad. Reading the other reviews you can clearly see that the attitude is the downfall of this average restaurant. Why waste your money and efforts to come to A&M? 50% of the reviews are very strongly against the way that these folks do business. Read into that. Imagine on a Friday at 7 pm and the place had 4 tables. I asked the owner if he reads his reviews and his answers were the last 5 were good. He knows his business is terrible and he doesn't care. Got home and found the most disagreeable and poorly made pie I have ever had. 1/2 all meat was just few pieces of pepparoni and the other 1./2 half had no mushrooms and the olives were all glommed onto 2 slices. Went out here since there wasn't much option in the area. When I came here they seem to be flustered since they were busy. I ordered a to go eggplant Parmesan sub sandwich. I was waiting and waiting and finally, 30 minutes had passed and I still haven't had my order so I had to go to the front and check. They had a technical error where my order's ticket did not get sent to the kitchen. I was just super hungry after a long days work and I wish they could've handled the situation more graciously. Called up around 6:40pm on a Saturday Night. I know it was gonna be busy so I was prepared for that since it is worth the wait. Who ever they had at the front tonight was horrible. She picks up the phone says hello A&M hold on then puts the phone down. So I am expecting that once she is done with people there she will come back. Instead I sit there for nearly 10 minutes hear her talking with others walking around. Complaining that she talked to someone else that called 12 times, which I can see why with how she is answering the phone, then just hang up the phone on me. So I call back and do the same thing. This time I am again waiting 10 minutes only this time I am not hearing any talking just people working in the kitchen. So clearly they need to have a talking to with this person. I have been going to these guys for near on 15 years now and never had this much of a problem with them. read more

We saw a lot of cars, so decided to try this place. Love the menu - lots of options for sandwiches, subs, calzones, pasta, Stromboli's and salads in addition to pizza. Great daily specials. Prices are a little high overall, but you do get a lot of food. We also received great service. I didn't get the lady's name, but she was nice and very helpful. We ordered small salads (they are huge!), which were decent, and come with fresh bread. We also ordered two personal pizzas, which were 6 fairly big pieces. Way more food than 3 people could eat. So lots to take home. The pizzas were okay. My niece had the Hawaiian, and loved it. I had the Big Apple, which was loaded with meats and veggies. Quite frankly - too loaded, so the center dough was soggy. But, it was still a good pizza. Here's one major turn-off though. The bathrooms were not at all clean. I'm not a neat-freak at all, and I was surprised at how funky the sink was. I spent a few minutes cleaning it up, when I realized how dumb that was. My husband said the men's room was so awful, that if he had gone in there before we ate, he would have walked out of the restaurant. How can Management ignore the lack of attention to the bathrooms? That's just basic good hygiene, people. I really want to go back and try other menu items, but not until they take care of those bathrooms! read more

Waited over an hour for our food. No silverware or plates. Salad was awful...just lettuce and a pile of green olives with a few tomatoes mixed in. Pizza was cold and soggy. Really terrible!!! Talked to manager who was full of excuses but did give us 50% off... still overpriced. Waited forever for the bill but ended up having to go to counter and ask for it. Here I am visiting Florence, AZ while on vacation. My Buds recommends A & M Pizza so here we go. Overall the other past ratings indicate a problem with service, price and cleanliness-however, no major issue with the food. When you arrive you find a very nice older building with plenty of parking. The interior is fairly large with nice pictures of movie stars and other memorabilia. My group had Pizza, Lasagna, Garlic Cheese Bread and Wings. The quality freshness and taste of everything was OUTSTANDING and home made! It has been years since having a lasagna that tasted that good. No heavily spiced sauces, pizza dough was like a fresh baked bread and yes, it all passed my delicate stomach test for those follow my reviews. I saw no issues on cleanliness. It is an old building and some of the areas of the restaurant needed updating. From what I could see, the kitchen and oven looked clean. All employees gave a neat, professional appearance. This is a family owned and operated restaurant. I got a huge lasagna, salad and fresh baked roll for under $14. Pricing to me was very reasonable based on other restaurants I have visited in California. We had so much leftovers that we took home. The young lady that served my group did an OK job. She was polite and attentive but had to serve other tables which resulted in our requests being neglected. I'm OK with that as this is not a high end restaurant where servers go through a company training program. The food was so good I decided not to downgrade the rating.
