While many contractors have lawsuits I figured as long as I did my due diligence and had the home inspected as well as understood that I was buying a home on an empty lot so my taxes were going to go up, I would be okay because their homes were beautiful! However, even after all that and having the home inspected, I still have tons of construction quality issues. You can definitely tell they took as many shortcuts and did everything as cheap as possible! And Of course you don't find those issues until after you move in the home. Even doing the walk-through of your rushed to hurry up and do it because the construction crew leader doesn't wanna waste the time discussing things with you about the home. They say they give you a sheet to go through and mark everything that's wrong with it so they can fix it before closing but your rush through so fast you can't possibly see everything. Wow they do offer a warranty after you close on the home. It takes forever to get responses which really makes me angry concerning. I got a hole in my roof! I even checked with my home inspector to find out how it could've been missed and find out that DR Horton wouldn't even let them on the roof so they couldn't inspect the roof. The other issues didn't get caught by the inspection either. Probably because the color of the home it wasn't so noticeable, but since I had the home repainted, you definitely could tell and see the issues. I had to reread my report and of course it's there with a clause stating they couldn't get on the roof. So now I have a hole in the roof. Another issue is the transition from carpeting to LVP flooring. They do not put any type of transition strips so your carpet will frey. 3rd issue the doorways are not installed correctly. The painters realize this when they were painting the bottoms were wider, and as they got to the top of the door doorway, it narrowed so much they couldn't even get a paintbrush between the two doorways. 4th issue no one noticed when the house was a light gray that in the front entrance doorway if you look up, the white piece is slanted upward they literally did not measure to make sure it was straight. 5th issue the windows have some kind of cook all around them so when I had the house painted, they didn't want to scrape it off. They didn't even know what it was. 6th the door seals were not installed correctly and I'm missing part of it on the front door 7th they did a crappy job. Drywalling didn't even bother smoothing things out so when the painters painted there's chunks everywhere. 8th they left big holes in my yard that never got filled in from the utilities 9th they half ass painted the concrete by the front door, as well as the walls in the home a super thin coat, which was ridiculous 10. They don't include any gutters on these homes. That is something you have to purchase separately, which is how we found out there was a hole in the roof. This is what happens when you buy a new construction home buy a builder that does not allow you to pick anything because it's a pre-styled home not to mention a large corporation that's in a rush to hurry up build and sell. Their crew leaders and project managers are garbage and don't care they are just worried about their bonus which the guy told us he doesn't get unless we close on the home. So obviously that's all he cared about. So my suggestion is....while their homes look beautiful on the outside the quality and craftsmanship is cheap and horrible! This was supposed to be our forever home because we are retired and did not want to move ever again until our death, unfortunately, it's costing a good chunk of money out of our retirement to fix everything that should've been done right in the first place. The reason we bought this home was because it was $100,000 cheaper than buying on the East Coast of Florida by Jacksonville, it was in a rural area, and it did not have an HOA and CDD so it made it more attractive. You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't since no one cares about the quality of work anymore. They only care about the mighty dollar in their pocket and how quickly they can get something done to move onto the next project.

Last year, when I had a major roof leak, I attempted contacting them, as the leak was due to improper installation, where no flashing had been installed as is required at a roof overhang. $8k in repairs later that I had to endure because they wouldn't respond to calls or emails and I didn't want to go through the hassle and expense of a lawsuit. A 10 year defect warranty is only good if the builder will abide by it. I only remembered I had this review when we saw an Open House sign for them today that directed to a street where there was no model home to be found. This is a great metaphor for Sierra Homes.

We are trying to sue him, but he has locked himself in his compound and we havent been able to serve papers in over a year. Cracks in floor from one end of house to another, across porch ,porch ceiling. No return calls-We tried to put pool in but Sierra had bulldozed wet lands, so county fined us $4300 as we were new owners (part of our lawsuit). The survey Sylvester gave us showed no wetlands, but the county had one dated same day that showed wetlands. His surveyor is part of law suit as he deleted wetlands per Sylvester, sent him a copy for us, then put the wetlands back in survey later that day (we have time stamped copies proving this) Surveyor said sylvester called him and had wetlands mitigated and to send copy without, then called later that day and said mitigation didn't go through, so send me a real copy which he gave to Orange county. 1st day we were her, hanging clothes in closet, shelves fell down as they hadnt hit a single 2x4. Toilet in master bath pluged 1st night. Long story, employees had put put spray foam down drain where it hardened-cost us $3500 to use cameras to find problem. Sylvester said it was probably diaper-youngest child was 39 (part of our lawsuit) There literally is not enough space in here to write all problems (I'm realizing this as I am typing) Suffice to say, best thing to do is call me live 407-765-6181Pete Baker
