I was hesitant to go to Ford directly, and saw the good reviews for Paton's, so I called them first. I was prepared to pay around $7000 (money I certainly did not want to spend, but assumed I would have to) to get the transmission replaced. I believe Rick answered the phone, but whomever it was basically said to me "Look, I have heard your story before - as much as I want your business, take the car to the Ford Dealer. There is a strong possibility it's covered under warranty.". Well, sure enough - took the car to the Ford dealer, and the entire transmission was replaced for free under warranty. THIS is how you build trust, by being honest and instead of just taking the money I assumed I would have to spend, by pointing me in the right direction. I brought my car to have the thermostat replaced and was quoted the astronomical price of $3600 because they attempt to add on every single thing that could possibly be done to the car at once. After I gave him the make, model, and year of my vehicle, Ronnie suggested I contact the dealership first to check if the repair might still be covered under warranty. I really appreciated how thoughtful and honest that was--he easily could have had me come in and pay out of pocket. I followed his advice, and sure enough, the repair was fully covered under warranty. I was extremely grateful for that. I do have a few other repairs that need to be done, and I will definitely be going back to Ronnie for those instead of the dealership. These guys are the most honest car repair shop I have done business with. They could have got…read moreseveral hundred more out of me if they wanted. My 2001 Pontiac Aztek had a check engine light that kept coming on. They told me all the problems it could be and prioritized it by likelihood and price. They went down the list and addressed each one. The final one was a bad valve and they replaced it but the check engine still did not go off. Instead of charging me for it, they took it out and returned it and didn't even charge me the labor cost. They got my car fixed multiple times in the past but at this point it's just too old and they advised me to not put any more money into it. I trust them with my car and know that they won't take advantage of my lack of knowledge about car issues. I highly recommend First Auto and will always use them for any issues with my new car.
