I expected to see a much higher rating for this place. I've been coming here the past 6 years and would recommend it to anyone. In fact I know a bunch of people who always use a&j. Now, you have to know what they're good for. If you need to repair a tire, or are looking to buy a good used tire, this is your place. I get used run-flat tires which always need to be replaced after New York winters. As for the owner that a few people have commented on, I don't think I've ever dealt with him. The staff (who work very hard) have always been fine to deal with. They're open 7 days a week! That's big. $15 to repair a tire, $45 for a used tire, $60 for a used run-flat. That's really all you need to know. read more

I wish yelp have a negative review feature so I could give this place -5 stars. The guy that runs this place is an absolute joke , they had lost one of my wheel locks and I came back asking if they have it and the guy told me it's my fault for not asking for it back? Excuse you Now he wants to charge me to break the lock on the wheel. Save yourself your time and your money and go to a business that's going to appreciate you as a customer and save yourself the trouble from dealing with this meat head read more

Untrustworthy and unsafe! They sold me a twenty year old tire, and when I noticed, they refused to offer a return. Not only are they greedy in their business practices, they are willing to put your safety at risk! Go elsewhere. read more

Recently had another flat tire. Drove to A&J. Was helped immediately. Vincente helped me,as he did last time. He took time to show exactly what the problem was. Fixed it,also checked the air pressure in the spare and filled that one to proper pressure. As I was leaving, backing out from a tight spot another gentleman guided me out onto my lane. Service was quick, polite, reasonable price. Should I need this again They're my go to. read more

Needed some air in 1 tire , also wanted to price out 4 new rims for car . Guys sitting in office tells me a few minutes, talk about rims he says they sell them but doesn't bother showing me them or pricing them out . After like 10 minutes ok workers were busy, yes they were hustling around , someone comes to my car , told him which tire and asked about rims , some other guy comes but doesn't get into prices. I'm like listen you guys are busy I'll come back no problem , so I give the guy who added some air to my tire 3 dollars and was like , see ya soon . Less than a minute passes I'm getting Into my car and he says my boss says you owe him 5 dollars .. I actually started to laugh and said let me get this ? 5 dollars for some air in a tire ? Before he could answer I reached into my pocket took out 5 dollars and told him give this to your boss and tell him to keep the 4 Mercedes rims I might have purchased .. I used to think the 1.50 air machines at gas stations were alot , people needing quarters on them, no more .. thank God for those machines with clowns like this guy around .. read more

Not sure what's stuck up the entitled white guy who runs the office. He seemed pretty normal on the phone. When i got there he came off like a dick who doesnt give a f%#$. Zero stars for him. 5 plus stars for the laborer who actually did the work, class act and i felt an imediate difference with the wheel alignment. My mechanic recommended this place for the value. Im not sure i would return tbh. Again the work was great but having to deal with some kid who treats customers like theyre a fly in his sandwich is like nah brah read more

Great tire shop Great selection of used and new tires Excellent flat repair Used tires are always in excellent condition and they always have a match for my current set of tires Prices range between 50 and 65 for a used tire Repairs plugs and patches go for 15 to 20 read more

Always try to help and seem honest!! If they dont have what you need, they will tell you and not try to sell you an

Quick and painless experience getting a used( but in great condition) tire put on. Will come back here in the future if needed.

Needed a tire ASAP . A & J was the place to go . Got the tire and it was done quickly as well as being very reasonable priced

Great place to find quality tires at reasonable prices . Time to change the old to new tires was quick .

DO NOT GO HERE - ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN!!!!! If I could give negative stars I would - the owner was so rude and nasty - absolutely no customer service. The guy that repaired my flat made several very inappropriate sexual comments to me, he looked like a disgusting slob and although I was able to drive off that day - 2 days later the tire started to lose air again. Had it fixed elsewhere and have not had any problems since. I do not recommend this place at all!!!!!! read more

Do not bring anything expensive or modified to this shop. I had my two front tires changed here and they severely chipped the powder coating off of the wheels. read more

Have them fix a flat for me and a week later it started leaking again. I brought it back to them and explain the situation and they tried to charge me again to fix it. Owner was very snarky and almost belligerent. Try to sell me a pair of $400 rims for $700 when I said I found the rims cheaper he said bring them and I'll mount tires I make more money. You're not the only tire shop on the island buddy. Been coming to you for years and always recommended my friends but trust me I'm not one of your dumb goyim read more

These guys are great. I recently needed a plug in one my tires. They did it in under 10 minutes and pricing was really good. In a freak of timing, the very next day my daughter's car needed some tire TLC. Went back tho A & J and they fixed us up without upselling us on 4 new tires. read more

The wait was cool, good customer service they went over and beyond to help me get a used or new tire. A lil bit to pricey for me looked at a wheel for two secs to tell me it was a slow leak got charged 5 dollars just for them to look at the wheel and puts it back on with out putting air in it... sooo 5 plus 20 for a patch n 3 dollars tax read more

A&J Tires has saved me many of times! The customer service is excellent prices are fair and service has always been quick! My last visit was due to a flat tire on my daughters birthday! I had a ton of things to get done and no time to waste. I pulled in and was serviced and out within 5 mins! read more

The best place to get tires, hands down. I frequently come here to get used run flat tires for my bimmer and for $65 you can't beat this place! The service is fast and they will pick a used tire in good condition to put on your car instead of getting ripped off at the dealership. Today I got a flat in NJ and my grandparents in SI picked me up a used tire from these guys to bring to me and they treated them with respect which I appreciate very much. read more

Needed some tires ASAP. I spent $200 on two tires and within a month the inner sidewall cracked, popped open, and I was left with a flat. I didn't hit anything, nothing hit me. I just drove straight and out of nowhere, the tire pops. I called up and was given the same yadda yadda about their one week guarantee. I understand that from one perspective, but a tire that's essentially new, inflated by the shop, shouldn't have its sidewall blow out within a month. That's just bad business. I'd rather spend 2x more money on a good set of run-flats at a shop that caters well to its customers. read more

Excellent service every single time when using them... I have been there to fix slow leaks and to get new and used tires...I do not live on Staten Island anymore so I haven't been to their store in a whle.... read more

I made the mistake of going here twice in the past 3 years. The first time was for a new tire pressure sensor. They identified which one was broken and changed it for over $100. When the light remained on they told me to drive the car for a bit and it'll go off. When it still remained on I went back and they said it's a different one that's broken! Really?? Why didn't you tell me only one was broken the first time??? Recently I went there for a flat. They told me I have two nails in it and patched it. The next day it was flat again! I went to a diff tire place and they showed me a hole on the side and that the tire couldn't be replaced!! So either this place has no idea what they're doing or they're totally dishonest. Either way save your money and go somewhere else!! read more

If i could give this tire place negative stars i would. The owner of this shop speaks to people like assholes. I have gotten one tire from them several months ago and experience was okay. Seeing as it is pretty hard to find the tire that I need for my car, I went back there the other day after blowing another one. The owner told me that he had none of the tires that I needed in stock and he would order it for a couple of days from then. He insisted on giving me a loaner Tire which was similar to the one I needed. After I told him several times that I'd rather not because I don't want to be responsible for it and that i had another car for the interm, he insisted that I take it and made me feel like a moron for not wanting it. So I took it and paid for the tire that was ordered. I went straight home from the tire shop with the loaner and parkd my car in my garage which was maybe 3 miles away from the shop. The next morning when I was leaving for work I noticed that that tire was now flat and the car was sitting on the rim. I threw the donut on and took my other car to work. I immediately called the tire shop when they opened and spoke to the owners son. The son told me not to worry about it and theyll take care of me when i come in. From prior experience of seeing how the owner interacts with people, I was not looking forward to this trip. When I got there several days later to exchange the tire, the owner told me that the flat was my fault and he would have to charge me for it along with the new tire. I told him that I was a prior customer and I planned on coming back to the shop for anything I needed in the future but he didnt care. I asked if it could have been in the realm of possibility that he gave me this used tire with an issue and he again said it was my fault and wouldnt budge. In the time that I was there, an older gentleman came in with his car and told the owner that the "specialty " tires that he insisted the Gentleman buy a few days prior were not intended for his car and he was gaving issues with them. The owner told him that he doesn't know how to drive and was the reason for the tire issues. This man was probably in his 60s and seem like a very nice person. He didn't put up a fight and gave in to the owner rather quickly. The owner talked to him like he was some stupid kid that didn't know anything and stepped right over him. After that two gentleman came in with a truck and we're complaining about tires that the shop had given them a few days ago. Once again the owner told them that they didn't know how to drive their car and it was their fault I may be wrong, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the one tire that they gave me as a loner and insisted that I take ended up being flat a few hours after I got home. I also don't think that it's a coincidence that while I was there the only two other customers had issues that the owner said it was their fault. This place is a rip-off and it's a scam. I will never go back here and I will never recommend this place to anybody and if anyone ever asks me about a tire shop I will speak nothing but bad about this shithole. The owner shouldn't be in a profession that allows him to deal and interact with people on a daily basis. He has no manners he's rude and I'm pretty sure that he purposely sabotages shit so he can make more money off of it later. All he had to do was apologize for my tire and take the small hit which I'm sure was only a few dollars to make a happy customer, especially after I didn't want the loner in the first place. read more

AJ Tires is a great place. They are quick. Very reasonable. Very nice. I feel like I really lucked out by finding them. They patched my tires. They have perfectly good used tires. I would highly recommend them read more

Can I give 0 stars??? This place ripped me off! I went in expecting to get a new used tire. Instead I drive out with the same tire on my car. JUST REVERSED! The guy patched it on the inside. It cost me 70 dollars and obviously didn't hold for more than a couple days that's why I'm writing this review. I try to go back there and he says there is nothing he can do. That I have to buy another tire! WHAT!!?? I lost my mind. So I had to leave before things would've gotten out of control. This isn't the first time he has ripped someone off. I've asked around and know a friend that also went there and he got 2 dry rotted tires, again that didn't last more than a month. Long story short,,, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, THE OWNER IS A CROOK! And will steal your money. read more

A & J Tires - Tires Near Me - Staten Island, New York

THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!!!! I got new rims here, and since I'm a girl they thought they could take advantage of me and be crooks. They took my old tire and gave me one with barely any meat. I just noticed on my car that three tires are the same and one is different with not a piece of meat on the tire. They actually stole one of my tires and gave me a old used one!!!! Also, when I first got the rims on my steering wheel was shaking out of control when I was going over 40 mph.. I went back and they were very nasty saying oh the wrong tires are on the wrong wheels... Seriosuly wtf? NEVER EVER going to this place again. Did I mention they are the nastiest people in the world aswell? read more

They say no, $10.00 more we don't normally balance then.... WTF? of course knowing my car will vibrate and shake with no balance I pay but no Bueno, last time I ever use aj's read more

This is the second time I've come here about a slow leak in one of my tires. The guys are always very quick, polite, and to the point. Standard $10 for a quick patch up. Not a lot of guys hanging around so for a girl that knows nothing about cars, it's a comfortable environment. read more

I've used their services twice and have not been disappointed either time. My first time here, I had a nail stuck in my tire causing a small air leak. They were unable to seal the leak, but I was able to purchase a replacement used tire for $45. That was about a year ago and no issues with that tire since. About a week ago my low air alert went off. When I tried to put air in the tire at the gas station, it wasn't taking any air and was practically flat. I started to panic a little because I had somewhere to go, and made a pit stop at A&J in hopes of getting the issue resolved. It turns out that one of the massive pot holes I inevitably ran into at some point caused some significant damage to my rim. They were able to correct it using a blow torch to put it in the correct shape. $45 later and I was on my way in about 25 minutes with a full tire. The woman next to me had her flat sealed for $15. There were about half a dozen people in and out while I was there, all getting leaks sealed or replacement tires. For me, it sure beat having to go buy a new rim. read more

I generally don't bother to review because I tend to give a lot of leverage to people and companies. But this place is a scam and as a matter of principle, I must warn others. Suffice to say I was quoted a price for a tire change but when I handed over my card, I noticed I had been charged more. The owner, who I dealt directly, claimed that it was taxes, but later when I reviewed and called back, he claimed that he'd quoted me a higher price. Reading through the posts here, I notice that this is a common experience, so I thought to lend my voice to warn others. DON'T GO HERE! DO NOT! Not only are they over-priced, they scam! read more

Quick and reasonable tire spot. I got a flat. No stress. Take cash or credit card. Easy.

Couldn't complete aligment and still charged me for it. Then tightened my lugs so tight that I couldn't get them off. Then when I called and asked if I can come down so they can loosen them, told me no it's my problem. Half a** job. The cheaper way out is the more expensive way out... read more

Been going to this place for years and always received bad customer service and a bad attitude from the owner every time I go there. You would think you would get a " hey how are you" or some kind of greeting any business would give a long time customer. This guy also rips you off. They charge an extra $5 for 2".So you think it's $15 but that's for a 16" tire a 18" tire is $20. I like patching my tires instead of just plugging it but I just don't like this guy and his horrible attitude toward customers. I told my wife I'm done I will not go there anymore I'd rather go somewhere else then to deal with this guy. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! EVER!!!! Unless you like getting ripped off. Sold me a tire, looked good enough, after a few weeks and less than 400 miles it fell apart. half the tread came off, lucky I was close to work. The miserable p.o.s. owner told me no refund, no new tire, only guaranteed for 1 week. wtf. And the guy put the lugs on so tight, took a 2 foot breaker bar with 4 foot pipe on it to loosen. Went there and whoever helped me was very rude. Tried to tell me about my car that ive owned for 15 years, he was wrong about everything he said but wouldnt listen to me. Also i asked to see the tire before he put it on... 10 mins later i see the guy wheling it out with the tire on. The tire he put on had uneven wear, it ranged from id say 30% tred to mabey 60%, i said it wasnt good and he was like "Oh its a low profile tire its supposed to be like that" (its a 50 series on a 16" wheel... not that low profile) and he claimed it was 80% tread when it was almost as bad as the tire i came in with. Then after i complained he gave me a practically new tire that they happened to have. I got 2 tires that day, each for a different car, both tires i asked to see it before they put it on and both times he didnt. After the thing with the bald tire i look at my van and they put this huge beffy mud tire on... completely mismatched and also wasnt very good on tread. Very dissapointed, the guy in charge was rude but the workers seemed nice. read more
