Nick Caya was helpful and gracious as mediator between me and his formatting staff -- until my…read morepaperback came out in print. The page text blocks are egregiously off-center on the page and nearly touch the spine -- text is shifted far from the open end of the page and so close to the center of the book that one must crack the spine to read it. Additionally, the type density is gray, not black, making pages unpleasant to read at length. One might assume that type density is not the responsibility of the formatting service, but Kindle Direct Publishing Customer Support informed me of this -- "Looking into the wireframe, it does appear that the left-hand pages throughout the interior contain a transparent object layered over the text. When the file is processed for print, these objects are automatically flattened and this can lead to undesired color shifts. This is the most likely cause for any differences you are seeing. To resolve, we would recommend the publisher to return to their native file and create a new PDF, ensuring all layers and transparent objects have been removed or flattened." Lulu Publishing and KDP Customer Support assign responsibility for these errors to Word-2-Kindle. Nick at Word-2-Kindle blames Lulu Publishing. I would warn any writer of a paperback book to be very cautious with both of these services.

This company is currently refusing to reply to my emails after I paid them two weeks ago for book…read moreformatting services. They guarantee they would deliver via email my finished product by a certain day and I still have not received anything; not even an explanation as to what the delay is. They seem to not be interested in satisfying customers and refuse to speak on the phone. I should've been suspicious because they have perfect reviews on social media, and that's a red flag. They are currently holding my manuscript hostage and when I emailed him to explain what the delay is I received an auto reply that reads "swamped with emails." It's a shame that someone can take your money and then refused to deliver the product and not even try to be courteous or make up for it. I have explained to them that I am missing important deadlines because of their delay in producing my finished product and they still have not made any effort to send my order to me to contact me with an update. I have been dealing with Nick and Mary but not sure if those are real names or if it's even a legit business. I'll be getting my financial institution involved if I don't hear back from them in the next day or so.
