The owner, Tom, dragged out repairs for over 3 months, blamed everything but the real issue, and tried to avoid going through his insurance. He even told me to lie to Mitsubishi about a recall to avoid fixing the damage. A Car-X location has confirmed my vehicle was unsafe to drive and documented serious damage (axle throwing grease, burned mount hole, etc.). I also have additional findings from a Transmission repair shop. I chose Troy Car Care based on a Groupon and the Napa Car Care Center sign on their site, but Napa told me they've had no affiliation since 2022 -- totally misleading. I'm filing a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General. Save yourself the stress -- go somewhere reputable.

Got all the preliminary work done, popped the hood and patiently waited for my turn. Shortly after, I was asked to move over to the other lane and I did so. Maybe 10 minutes later, the young man who checked me in came and asked me to move back to the other lane because a gentleman in a minivan felt he should was and should go first. I don't believe this gentleman was even in line before I got there and commented on this to the service tech. I told him I was not moving again and he informed he would tell his boss. Shortly after this encounter another male tech, assumed the boss, came strutting over to my vehicle. He told me he had checked the video and it showed the minivan had arrived prior to me. I told him I didn't believe so because I pulled in behind the white car now sitting next to me. He told me, and this is a direct quote, "I don't know if you are a liar or old and confused, but I'll let it go this time." (My Siri, which I was setting reminders on, caught the whole conversation.) I told him that wouldn't be necessary because I'll would drive on through, without service, after the truck in front of me was finished. Instead of driving car back home to triage it and in fear of making the problem worse or causing a worse situation on the highway, we stopped into Troy Meinkee and Aaron greeted us immediately outside. Their customer service is on point, you will always pay what is quoted or below, and yes, they always call before doing a service, after diagnosing your car to make sure it's something you can afford, and if it's not, they might even give a Band-Aid option if there is a Band-Aid option to give. I've worked with every mechanic throughout the years, with different cars when my main mechanic. (Jeff, who deserves an awesome review of his own) is unable to get my car or one of my kids cars in and I need it fixed ASAP and have yet to have a single bad experience in the 14 years I have been using them. They are very decently priced, (except on oil changes, because with their expertise, you're gonna be paying a little bit more than Valvoline, that's just how mechanic shops work though), and don't try to sell you more than what you need. They get your car in, they diagnose your issue and they fix it after you consent to having it fixed. They're so great that they don't even have to advertise, because word of mouth and their reputation in Collinsville speaks for itself. Sometimes you might have to wait a week or two to be able to get your car in, because they are that good, but once they get your car in, you will have it back within a day or two (and that's only cause they have to wait for parts). You are their number one customer when your turn comes up and they are worth the wait if you can hold out. I think the longest I've ever had to wait though was a week and a half to get a car in, and in emergent situations, (like when my dad's truck died and he had the only working vehicle for himself and my 93-year-old grandmother to get around in), they fit you in same day/next day, in between other appointments,, to make sure you have a working vehicle. Now that just might be because they knew my father by then and knew his situation, but that's also what you get with a small town auto shop is familiarity. I have multiple cars, so I'm willing to wait a few weeks for them to fit me in and wait for Jeff since he knows my personal vehicle the best as he's the one who's worked on it since the day I bought it. Admittedly, I am probably one of the reasons why it takes a week or two to get your car in, because I am the person people turn to when looking for a service because they know I've vetted the area and have already picked out the best of the best, so when I get asked about auto repair, I send them to Buzz's, so I probably shot myself in the foot with getting my car in within a few days, like it was when I first moved here a decade and a half ago, lol. But I promise you, they are worth it. Trust them, because out of all the places I've lived (used to be military family), and all the mechanics I've had to use throughout my 30+ years of car ownership, they are the one place I would say I trust completely. I'd also like to point out that I am a very tiny, dainty female, who looks like she would be taking advantage of at a mechanic shop, but thankfully, my father taught me enough about cars to know when a fast one's being pulled over on me, and yes, I have had to deal with that in the past with different mechanics, but never once at Buzz's, with any of their mechanics, have I had that happen. So when I say you can trust them, I mean, 100% you can trust them with your vehicle and know you are getting the best value, for what you need fixed, and it will be fixed completely and in the best way possible, to fix your needs and budget
