On September 12, 2025, I went to Discount Tire for 12-ply tires for my 8-foot trailer that hauls…read moreabout 4,400 lbs of water. I asked for 12-ply tires on 13" rims. As the salesperson, Gavin (red hair), showed me different options, I kept repeating that this was to haul 4,400 lbs of water and that they needed to be 12-ply to support the weight. Gavin never once mentioned that 12-ply tires can't go on 13" rims. I was led to believe the entire time that I was getting 12-ply tires. When I arrived to pick up the tires and rims, I noticed they were too small and would not support the weight. Since I was selling the trailer, I wanted to make sure the tires were safe for the new owners. I asked the store manager if these were 12-ply, and he told me they were 8-ply. After reviewing the invoice later, I discovered they were actually 6-ply. I told the store manager about my conversation with Gavin and immediately returned the tires. Honestly, it felt like I was misled because I'm a woman. Since I didn't know that 12-ply tires can't go on 13" rims, I was obviously an easy target. This should have been an opportunity to explain the correct setup -- not mislead me. I own five trailers and two trucks, and I've always trusted this chain for my tire needs. This experience destroyed that trust. Do not trust this store -- they do not care about your safety. I've reported this to Discount Tire corporate and will be forwarding it to the FTC, for deceptive trade practices, once operations resume after the federal funding shutdown.

He was literally the only person within 150 miles who could make that happen on such short notice. I met him in the Tropicana Laughlin, NV parking lot, and he got me back on the road. Yes, there was a fee (ouch), but for the speed, reliability, and excellent service, it was absolutely worth it.

After the alignment, they told us the tires needed balancing as well, so we agreed to that. They took the car on three test drives and assured us each time that it was running "smooth" and everything "looked good." We were told maybe we had "bad" tires or possibly a problem with the transmission and sent on our way. Saying the Volvo was driving "smooth" couldn't have been further from the truth. The moment we got in the car, it was vibrating and bouncing just as badly as before. It genuinely felt like they wanted us out the door rather than taking the time to diagnose the real issue. When we got home, a simple Google search pointed to bad CV joints and control arms. We took the car to Tire Works in Bullhead City, and they confirmed exactly that. It's hard to believe Stockton Hill Tires didn't catch something so obvious. Tire Works replaced the parts, and now our Volvo drives perfectly. The staff at Stockton Hill Tires were friendly, but friendliness doesn't fix a car. Whether they didn't know what they were doing or just didn't want to deal with it, the result was the same. Based on our experience, I can't recommend them. Tire Works in Bullhead City, on the other hand, got the job done right.
