I returned today with an issue on a tire, first time l've had a real issue, I called before to make sure it was still covered under warranty and it wouldn't be a problem for them to fix. I was reassure two times that it wouldn't be an issue and to bring in my tire, which I had already removed from my vehicle. Upon arriving after they looked at my tire, they informed me they could give me 50% off a new tire because of the tread left on my old tire. They informed me that they didn't have my old tire brand anymore, but could offer me one that was equivalent to what I had. He then proceeded to tell me that half of a new tire would bring my total to around $200. I told him I wasn't sure how that was possible when a brand new tire regular price was $200. Where did the 50% come in to play? He told me after mounting the tire on my rim and other fees it would be around $200. I had already removed the tire from my car so they weren't even having to put it on or off my vehicle. They told me even with a cheaper tire my total would still be around $170. I told him that the tire he was trying to sell me for $170 was listed brand new for $120 on THEIR OWN website so I was still confused when the half off came into play, how my total would be that much. Worst is customer service l've ever received from them. I took my tire and will now bring it to a local tire shop instead of counting on them. Let's just say the warranty and the things they make you feel like you need to purchase when you purchase new tires from them is unnecessary because it does not help when you have a real issue. Not sure if it's the new management that took over this establishment or if it's the new company that owns them but even with the warranty from them, I will no longer use them.

The moment I first met Mark, I felt the vibe that people cannot fake, he was a genuine stand up individual who didn't try to talk me out of my wallet. In fact, he tried not charging me however I couldn't do that. He was a God Send and he staff were going above and beyond and we felt like family more than anything. When you see someone who runs a business like that and is grateful for every customer they have, it makes you wonder how you can deal business with big corporation competition. I would rather give my local business the chance along with knowing that these guys are putting food on their tables by being honest and genuine. They got my truck in quick for some minor maintenance and turned it around in record time. They checked on a couple other things that might be due, and gave me a fair quote on those too. After being…read moretold the diagnostic would be $150 I dropped the truck off at Grumpy's Diesel Service in Cantonment, FL. I was told it needed a new turbocharger and the cost would be $8,400 plus the possibility of an additional $2500 if a nox sensor had indeed failed also. Although I was mentally prepared for the 8 grand, I was not prepared for the news that it would take three weeks to repair. When I asked why so long I was told it would be a week to get the parts then two weeks to do the job. When I pressed as to why it would take two weeks to do a twelve hour job she replied they can't just work on my truck. They would work on mine a while then work on other vehicles for a while. I declined repairs and was shocked when the $150 diagnostic was actually $176.84. They padded the bill with $10 of "shop supplies" (aren't supplies a part of doing business?) and $4.50 HM fee plus sales tax. I drove the truck 325 miles to the Ram dealer in Chiefland, FL (where I'd had maintenance done previously) with no isssues other than it didn't have enough power to get out of its own way. I dropped it off at 8am on a Monday morning and later that day they called and said an actuator had failed, the turbo was fine. After informing the service advisor I needed to get back to my rv in Pensacola due to family medical issues he said they could overnight the part for an additional $200. Even so i was pleasantly surprised when the dealership called at 11am the next morning and said the truck was ready. Cost? $3800. I was "home" shortly after dark with a properly functioning truck. I will never set foot in Grumpy's Diesel Service again even if my truck stops running at their doorstep and I recommend you seek repairs elsewhere also.

I used Vannoy's more than 10 years ago and had a horrible experience, so I hadn't been back--until…read morerecently. I developed a bubble in the sidewall of one of my tires, and the Vannoy's location on 9 Mile Road near I-10 was the closest shop. I called and spoke with Mindy, explained what I needed, and she quickly gave me several options. I chose a tire they had in stock and headed over. They replaced the tire, completed a vehicle inspection, and pointed out a few deficiencies--which is pretty standard these days. They provided a price for each repair, but there was no pressure or aggressive upselling. Fast-forward a few weeks: I needed tires mounted on my son's vehicle and the TPMS sensors transferred, and I decided to return to Vannoy's. I received the same great service from Mindy and watched her treat every customer with the same patience and professionalism. At one point, she took a call from what I assume was an unhappy customer regarding work completed under the shop's previous ownership--something neither Mindy nor the current team had been involved with. The way she handled the conversation deserves special recognition. She clearly explained the ownership change, made no promises or excuses, and still went above and beyond. She offered to contact former team members to see whether they remembered the work and promised to personally follow up with management to determine whether anything could be done. If you've read this far, it's probably no surprise that I recommend Vannoy's on 9 Mile Road at I-10--but even more so, I recommend asking for Mindy. She completely changed my perception of the business.
