I should have asked for his name but he was a tall African American gentleman who walked around the store helping me find a battery operated lamp/light after Hurricane Zeta hit us. I was checking out with my windshield wiper fluid and offhandedly asked if they had any battery operated lamps. I can get wiper blades, car batteries, head lights, engine belts, etc. Everything I need, although most of the real stuff is behind the counter. Quite a few specialty tools available for rent (I would never have gotten that belt tight enough without their tensioner). The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Store is well lit and clean. I even acquired Christmas presents here the year when everyone's stocking received a car emergency window hammer with seat belt cutter (one of those gizmos that if after an accident, you can't open a car door or escape from your seat belt, the tool will save the day and probably your life).

Jakes was there within 30 min and the car was gone. tow truck driver went above and beyond to hook it up. went the next morning to Avondale to get it and called AAA to have someone come replace the tire with the spare. because it was in a puddle the AAA (United) driver wasn't happy and was being stubborn and Jakes team was nice enough to get it to the parking lot in front of the building. for some reason, the AAA driver yelled something out of his vehicle door and took off from Jakes without changing the tire, and without telling me what was going on. Jakes team changed the tire for me. they didn't have to do that. so I asked if they had a part that my sister needed for her car and I bought it and was on my way. Jakes went above and beyond. all the guys were nice and friendly. just wish AAA would contract with Jakes.

I would not trust this Pep Boys location with another vehicle…read more I brought my 2020 Toyota 4Runner here for an oil change before a family trip. Within about 49 miles, I got a "LOW OIL PRESSURE" warning. There was a substantial amount of oil under the vehicle, oil on my driveway, and the dipstick appeared dry. Pep Boys' own paperwork later documented "Oil level low" and "Bad o-ring on oil filter housing." Their towing solution failed even though I told them the vehicle was inside a parking garage, so I had to arrange my own AAA tow and spent hours stranded at the VA hospital. I was promised a call the next morning. They never called. I had to keep contacting them myself, and while they had my vehicle for about a week I received almost no proactive updates. I also specifically asked them to save the replaced parts. I never received them, and their paperwork actually says "Customer Requests NOT To Keep Parts," which is the opposite of what I requested. When I picked up the vehicle, I was basically handed my keys. No apology. No meaningful explanation. When I spoke with the manager, Jacob, I was told the O-ring was defective from the manufacturer, that it was not Pep Boys' responsibility, and that I should pursue the manufacturer myself. I even had to ask them to refund the original oil change. By that point, I was so frustrated with the entire process that I did not even want the refund anymore. It had become more about the principle of how the situation was handled than the cost of the oil change. Parts can fail. What made this unacceptable was the lack of communication, lack of accountability, and complete lack of effort to make the situation right. I have photos, videos, towing records, and Pep Boys' own documentation supporting this review. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend taking your vehicle somewhere else. UPDATE: After I escalated this to Pep Boys corporate, I was contacted within approximately two hours and ultimately received a refund. I appreciate corporate responding quickly and resolving the financial portion of my complaint. Unfortunately, my experience with this specific location has not changed. When I returned to the store, the assistant manager handled the interaction. Jacob was present but never came out to speak with me, apologize, explain what happened, or acknowledge the situation. It took escalating the matter to corporate for this to be addressed.
