The driver of their tow truck is not respectful of peoples property. Yesterday, they towed a car from a neighbors property where they had blocked up my property until they were done. In the mean time, it's trash night, they moved my trash cans from my property to get the car. None of this would had been a big deal if they would had at least put my property back rather than leaving it how they did it for something that had nothing to do with me and my property. Additionally, the driver apparently isn't suitable for this type of job because he had to get another neighbor help him move the vehicle as well - and not the neighbor whos property it's on. Pull-A-Part had several instances of the old Honda I needed, but the particular ignition parts had already been scavenged off all but two. With a little external searching, I was able to find another Honda model that used the same part, as well as an Acura MDX of the same vintage. (Or to be more precise, "generation"; generally, a part for a particular generation does not change year to year. For example, 2001-2005 Honda CIvics are "seventh generation", 2009-2014 Honda Fits are "second generation", etc. ) In my case, the Acura MDX and Honda Pilot used the same part, but on both those engines Honda used an Allen-head instead of a 10 mm hex head to secure it. I didn't have an Allen wrench with me, and none of my fellow scavengers did, either. I had to make a return trip. Here is where Pull A Part lost at least one star: The posted times are last in at 5:30 PM, closed at 6 PM. I arrived at 5 pm only to be cautioned that "you only have ten minutes". I got my parts and was walking back at 5:20 when the siren was blowing and the yard was being shut down. I do appreciate that you can see what's on the lot online, and you can pick over the car yourself. For certain parts, like electronics buried inside sealed cases, and glass panels from the better end of the junker, the selection is rich. Don't expect much in the way of usable upholstered seats or cosmetic trim. Wheelbarrows are provided so that you can tote in your own tools (nothing powered or spark-generating) and tote out your parts. They also rent golf cats to reach the more distant areas. The posted hours state last entry 5:30 with a hard close at 6 pm. Honor those hours, change the posting, but do not close early. Located deep on the West Bank down the street from Boomtown Casino, near Belle Chasse, this isn't exactly a convenient location for people trying to get in a parts hunt after work. If the posted hours *say* open, *be* open. Those of a philosophical bent may find this an interesting excursion into dystopia: heaps of fatally damaged cars, yet all neatly arranged in rows that are liberally sprinkled with random parts. There is a JPSO officer on site at all times. I can only imagine that before the detail, the crowd going through this place went "round and round" with the employees and won. I brought my son there to get a door handle for a 95 Toyota Corolla. Yes they had a matching vehicle, yes they knew which aisle it was on. The lady on the phone was checking inventory from Georgia. She was extremely nice, the buck stops there. We drive about 1/2 an hour from Metairie and walked the yard. Was lucky to get a drink out of the vending machines. A Coke was $1.40 and there were "use at your own risk" signs written all over the machines. That is about the gist of this place-- they will take your money , but don't dare ask for anything in return... So I used a card to get a drink and set out into the wet, mosquito infested yard. There a puddles of stagnant water all over the place. They would do better selling deep woods OFF and Benadryl instead of soft drinks. After signing the lengthy release, we marched onto the battlefield with tools in hand. This is not a place for children! Most cars are held up by a set of old rims, there is broken glass and sharp rusty metal at every turn. Once out in the field, we went to 308 & 318 to find the Toyotas. A guy approached me and asked "Do jou have de number 10?" Like $10?, nooo. I looked at my hand and explained that "these are American tools"-- SAE only! We split up and found the toyotas. After a sliced hand, a few rounds of Zika lottery, and some slices on broken glass- we recovered a door handle and the interior trim. Heading back was like walking to the gold exchange in a western movie. The fact that is was raining and it was near closing time did not help. One of the handles was blue instead of black. So it was going to take $5 worth of spray paint to get it matched. When we walked inside the cashier looked up the handles in her "computer". "She said It said" the exterior handles were $10 each and $5 for the interior handle. They also quoted environmental fees and tax over the phone. That gives them plenty of leeway and doesn't hold them to a real price. The fact that we spent an hour of travel, installation, disassembly and spray paint didn't come into play. So I checked out the price online, trying to get an idea of what ........the hell!!! eBay sells the handles brand new for $10, delivered to your front door. Although this was the case and we showed her, too bad. You wasted your time and money for nothing. "Let your fingers do the walking, it's a snap. That's what I should have done before driving here only to waste time (and money). Had I known that for less cost, I could have brand new accessories delivered to my front door, I would have skipped wasting a better part of my Saturday. Also would have reduced the risk of catching Encephalitis. I think mosquito control should be on this place. There were puddles so large that you couldn't even approach a vehicle; the water was 4" deep. This is the type of situation that needs management to step up and intervene. Because the next time I need a part, instead of going and walking the lot, the first instinct will be to "check eBay" instead of going to Pull-A-Part. I think others would be smart to do the same...... I think that instead of pillaging jack kits (because there are lots of cars that don't have them-or spare tires), they should inventory all of the tires and rims in that place. Most of the vehicles have them removed for scrap, but I think they could fetch more as a set or for tires instead of balancing those vehicles on some rims. Those vehicles are destined to fall over and seriously injure someone. Judging by the release they want you to sign, I would say someone already had a run-in with the insurance company for this place. read more

I have not been to a junkyard in approximately 20 years. I was pleasantly surprised with Pull A Part. Things were very organized and it was a very orderly process not like in the old days when you just went to a junkyard and had to hunt through the whole place to look for the car that may or may not have your part. Next time I need a part that could be from a junkyard I'm definitely heading back to Pull A Part. read more

Really cool junk yard. Not like the old type with vehicles scattered about with no organization. They have their junk together. The Jeeps are in one section, Tahoes in another, Trans Ams here, Fords over there. Very well organized. Not a lot of unnecessary walking in here unless you like to browse around. Even has a nice online inventory checker, well vehicle checker. It wont actually tell you if the 1971 VW Beetle in the yard still has a generator or decklid on it anymore. Just if the car is there. I been in there a few times to see how long it took for my very first dealership bought vehicle to getting picked apart. 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Sad in a way, but very cool. read more

If you're going to have a sign next to your door that clearly reads "Sales: 8-6", which is also what is advertised on your corporate website, then that means that you will be accepting sales until six. That doesn't mean that you can close up shop at five thirty, and tell customers arriving at your register well before six that the registers are closed and you are no longer taking sales. That, my friends, is called false advertising. That, along with the manager telling me that he has to "follow rules" when it's obvious he just wants to leave early, and being bullied by a police officer who was quick to jump to conclusions and call me a liar, have pretty much been the final nail in the coffin for this place. I would not recommend this location to anyone. A business that thrives on false advertisement, and hides behind paid officers, is no business I want to give my money to. read more

I've been to this junkyard a few times, and each time I find a few new things to disgust me. First, their advertising and signage features women wearing low cut blouses and holding "big tools". Misogyny is hilarious!!! Second, I've had employees make homophobic comments. That sucks. Unfortunately if you're working class and need cheap parts, it doesn't matter if you're queer; they're the only game in town. My trip there today was super special though! On the way in at 4:30pm I made note of their sign that very clearly stated "Last admission at 5:30pm, Close at 6pm." What this means is that they stop letting people in at 5:30 because they know it's going to take a minute for you to wrench your part out of a vehicle. My partner and I worked efficiently and kept our eye on the time. At 5:20 pm we heard a siren and a muffled announcement. We kept asking each other what was being said. We never saw the broadcaster, but it sounded like it was coming from a bullhorn. We kept working and ignored it. We had seen the sign and were nearly finished. and knew that we had plenty of time to get out of there. At 5:35pm we started walking to the check out building. We arrived there at 5:40 pm and we were yelled at and berated by a manager who told us the registers were closed and that we wouldn't be able to check out. We informed him that his sign clearly stated that we could check out until 6pm. At that point the cop that they had there on retainer came over and started berating us. First the manager told us that they had closed the registers because they didn't know we were there, then the cop came over and told us we were lying and that we had heard him come around and broadcast that the registers were closing. So that's what he was saying. YOU WANT TO CLOSE EARLY, CHANGE YOUR SIGN! I took particular exception to being called a liar, being refused service, and being made to leave behind the part that two of us had spent nearly an hour extracting from a vehicle. I was told that I could return (promptly) at 8am the next morning (and waste another $15 in gasoline) if I wanted the part. If I did not come at that time, the part would be thrown into their scrap after they opened. Horrible, disgusting, vile place with non-existent customer service and shoddy business practices. Having a rental pig call me a liar was a nice touch and an added bonus. See y'all at 8am. read more

BRING YOUR TOOLS. I showed up to check it out, and boy oh boy (yeah, that's an expression), is this placed organized! First off, you can actually check for the car / parts on their website. I've gone to another junk yard, and it can be a hit or miss b/c their selection is definitely "smaller" and there's no real accountability on their items. 2) It's organized like I said earlier. There are rows of neatly stacked up cars sectioned off by import or domestic cars. 3) Every car sits about 2 to 3 feet high so you don't need to jack up the car. If you needed to get the springs or shocks for example, it's as easy as it will ever be. Trust me. Lastly, the parking lot is immaculate. Seriously, immaculate. Plus when you walk in, it feels like an Advance Auto Part store with two cashier like registries on the right side (one to check for parts and the second to check your tools and pay the $2 entry fee). And yes, the entry fee is worth it for $2 (and I'm super cheap). BTW, when you do check out, the other side of the check-in point has the actual cash register (i.e. 3 of these) to allow you to pay for their items. Just to illustrate how popular they are, when I arrived on a Wednesday morning about 9:30am, there were 4 sets of people in line with a few others already inside their massively organized "junk" yard. Good stuff. So....bring your tools b/c you'll pull the part yourself so that you can enjoy the plethora of "goods." read more

Great place to buy car parts...and you can find their car inventory online! Best, most organized junkyard I've ever seen. ...and most importantly it's cheap. I swear they sell the parts based on weight. Power window motor and assembly? About $25! Someone busted out one of your windows? That's about $15! Comparing that with most shop prices will send even the most novice mechanics digging around for how-to's on the forums... Just check the site before you go. I'm lucky to have an incredibly common car...but don't expect them to have parts for your '63 Valiant or whatever... read more

Well organized: All models are grouped together by make and in distinct, numbered rows. Good people: The people that I met, at the entry station as well as the exit/pay area, were friendly, personable, and helpful (I was a first time customer). Easy to locate the vehicles of interest: You can get a list of similar vehicles with matching parts either on-line before you arrive or at the location when you arrive. The list will show the row number (see above) and the model of the vehicle with interchangeable parts like you want. Price: They did not have the mirrors I wanted, see below, but if they had they were going to sell them to me for 1/2 the price of ordering knockout mirrors from LMC Trucks. They do take your picture and bio data. This does not bother me but it may bother some... And they charge $2.00 to enter the lot. The only negative is that I could not locate the parts, two outside mirrors, I wanted. There were about a dozen vehicles listed with the mirrors I wanted but all were either already gone or badly damaged and not serviceable. read more

The employees are consistently horrible at pricing items or choosing the correct part description to price your items correctly. I've purchased many things from here and when it comes to experience, I rank these guys the least experienced in the state. I frequently travel to other pull-a-part yards and never have any issues. Recently I purchased some GM seats that are vinyl which are made to look like leather. The employees overly kept insisting it was leather despite me knowing this vehicle very well and all the seating options that GM ever offered with it. Just to avoid further argument and the disagreement getting out of hand, I ended up paying a ridiculous price for some used vinyl seats. If I hadn't been in such a pickle from having already taken apart my other seats to remove the airbags, I would have walked out leaving my crap there at the counter. It's no wonder they have a JPSO officer posted there, I really could see some other people getting really pissed off after spending hours to remove a part and then go to pay only to have the employees arguing with them. I understand the place has to make money, however this location is getting very unreasonable to deal with. read more
