Used A1 for 25 years. Just traveled recently for personal use for a Newark to Pennsylvania one-way trip. Price quote was high, but I thought it might be worth it given my past experience. I will never use them again. In addition to the quote there was an additional $50 for wait time(My flight was 40 minutes early, I was told wait time starts when plane lands), parking, tolls. and automatic 20% gratuity for the driver. I'm pretty pedestrian about cars for hire. When I order a ride I expect it to be on time, not look like a shambles when it gets here and be driven by someone who's not well acquainted with mug shot procedure. By that standard A-1 seems to know what business they're in. Not the low cost provider by any means but they've never left me stranded or cursing into my phone so there's that and there's no mystery pricing algorithms and rate-a-date nonsense like the Earl of Uber. We used A1 all the time for twenty years, personally and for business. But in the last few years their service has truly deteriorated while costs continue to rise. They used to have professional drivers who would help load and u load luggage, have waters for you in the cars, and an easy website to make reservations. Now, the website is terrible, the drivers seem to be retirees who aren't always able to lift heavier bags, and they'll load bags to that if they have to stop short, it'll fly over the back seat and break your neck. One driver was streaming TV on his phone while driving us to the airport. They also used to park in premium spaces at Newark so you didn't have far to walk, but those days are gone. We've had too many bad experiences to ever use them again. read more

A1 employs the oldest drivers I have ever seen. They struggle with luggage and get confused as to where they have parked. One driver the week of Christmas had a soccer game live streaming on his phone the entire trip from Princeton to EWR. The most obnoxious policy, and it's company wide, is they won't park in premium lots, so customers get to hike to the farthest points in the various terminal lots instead of in the lots every other company uses. I cannot stress this enough: you will hike forever getting to your so-called "luxury" service because they won't pay for the limo lots at Newark. Lastly, the latest elderly person who picked us up couldn't remember how to get to the car. When we got there, he stacked luggage over the trunk area directly behind my son's head. Even the slightest short stop would have sent a giant suitcase into his head and neck. An accident would have killed my kid. My husband jumped out as the driver started to pull away and just flipped a suitcase sideways, making it possible to put the teetering suitcase safely next to the rest of the luggage. All of this for the ridiculous price of $250 EACH WAY. read more

I have used A-1 limo for many years. They used to be reliable, but twice in the last year drivers have had "emergencies" and they have not called it in. The result is, I did not get the ride to the airport that I expected. Major disruption in one's life. The driver does not show up. Dispatching needs a better way of tracking drivers to make sure they're going where they're supposed to go. And they need to get reliable drivers who called in when they have a problem. In addition, cost of continue to rise, which is understandable, but the service is deteriorating, which is not acceptable. read more

I have traveled in A1 Limo Bus#4402 for over THREE years now. Very comforting and Relaxing trips .. All trips as part of Senior Trips arranged by Hopewell Recreation Department. Our driver is very courteous and helpful for helping us get on-&-off the bus ... after all we are Seniors. Only complaint or dissatisfaction I have is about the Claim that WiFi is available on the bus. Except once two years ago, every time I try to connect the Limo-Internet, it fails with message "device connected but no Internet available. I have talked to the driver but the Bus-Router is not getting fixed. Yesterday I tried to use the 110-Vac outlet and the USB ports but neither were active. I hope the A1 Limo fixes these issues for the Bus#4402 [since we are taking that bus on Dec. 7, 2022 to see a show. read more

My daughter and I went on a whirlwind trip to five different countries, and we had made arrangements for A-1 Limousine to pick us up from Newark airport. When we left the terminal, we had four large suitcases and one small carry on. We loaded the five suitcases and went into the limousine. Upon starting the car the driver said he thinks his trunk was not closed correctly, and he had to redo the suitcases. He went out and rearranged the suitcases and he started to drive us home. Upon arriving home, we realized one of the suitcases were missing. I thought I was going to get sick. We went to five countries, on five different airplanes and all our suitcases had always been with us. Upon arriving home from between the airport and my home one goes missing? He was supposed to drive my daughter home, but my husband told the driver to go back to the airport to look for the suitcase and he would drive her home. I received a text from the driver that he could not find my suitcase. The limousine company kept trying to prove to me that this was our fault and we never retrieved one of the suitcases. It turned out the fire marshall from Falls township found my suitcase in the middle of US Route 1 and Tyburn Road. The only reason I was able to get the suitcase back, was because the fire marshal of Falls Township notified the police that they found my suitcase. The trunk never opened prior to him opening it at my house, so the suitcase had to have been on the roof of his car the entire trip home. How else would it be in the middle of the road? I was only able to get my suitcase back because I left a finished antibiotic bottle in my suitcase. The suitcase could have fallen on a car behind us and hurt or killed another driver. On top of the anxiety I had in regard to the missing suitcase, they had the audacity to actually charge my credit card for the trip. They ruined a $1,623.00 suitcase (it was all scratched from the fall-and it was a brand new suitcase) and they refuse to pick up the phone when I call to talk to a person named Chris who gave me his personal number. He is the son of the owner too! They should not be able to operate since their driver was so careless and they refuse to take responsibility. read more

A-1 sent a limousine to meet our late-arriving flight at Newark Airport on 10/17. Driver was there, but he didn't have a mask--and sneezed several times on way down to Princeton. So my wife and I--both wearing masks--asked driver to open his window and ours partway, which he did, and we were buffeted by cold wind (50 degrees) on the NJ Turnpike and local highways all the way home. Next day I called A-1 to complain, but they don't have a customer service number, so I connected to someone in their Marketing department, told her why I was calling, and she said someone would call me back right away. It's now ten days later and I have yet to receive the promised call. Long story short, although we had been using A-1 for airport runs for many years, we will NEVER use them again. read more

Our trip to Greece started with the excellent service provided from A-1 limousine. Text and email communication was provided throughout the process. The driver promptly picked us up at our home in Yardley, PA and drove us to JFK airport. The SUV we ordered was clean and in good order. The driver wore a mask the entire time. On our way home the driver was on time for pick up and helpful with our large amount of luggage. After spending 22 hours of travel it was money well spent for the ride home. I travel a lot for work and need a car service a few times a month. A1 used to fill the bill, but they have gone way down hill. My final straw was this week. I had a 12 hour work day scheduled in NYC, and booked a car with A1 instead of taking a train home to NJ. The driver showed up almost 1/2 hour late .. his last client allegedly ran late.. but that should nhave been my problem. When spending a few hundred dollars for a ride home from work after a very long day, I wasn't planning to stand on a street corner in Manhattan. When splurging on a luxury experience, forget about A1. I contacted customer service and they offered me a meaningless discount. They clearly cater to their corporate contracts and take individual clients for granted. This is not the first time they've left me hanging but it will be the last. I'm done with then. The driver, Mr. Mohammed Uddin was on-time, very friendly, polite & dressed respectable to greet us. He ensured and awaited our mother put on her seatbelt before moving the car. TERRIBLE doesn't begin to describe my experience!!! First the driver was late! I got the royal run around when I called several times to find out what was going on. When he finally arrived, customer service was practically non-existent. Normally the driver greets you, takes your bags, opens your door, etc. I got the pleasure of hauling my own bags and opening my own door. But that was just a prelude. He sped, tail-gated, darted between cars and braked so aggressively that I almost threw up during the ride. He treated traffic like target practice, almost colliding several times with other cars. It was the scariest ride I've ever had, and not an experience I would wish on anyone. I called to complain afterwards, and may as well have spoken to a wall. No one cares! What a total rip off! Quoted $120, charged $240! I was in Princeton for business and these guys happened to be at the station, so I used them as a normal cab service to get to the office. It was a decent car and the driver was great, so I asked how much to drive me back to Manhattan at the end of the day. He quoted $120, which was cheaper than the company's usual car service, so I took his number. I called and booked him later on and he drove me and a colleague who lives three blocks away back to the city. When we arrived he wanted $240 - exactly twice what we had agreed. I had asked for a complete price, but he had charged $120 plus tolls, tax, a 'second drop' charge and then a 20% tip on the full price (including the tolls and tax!) I have complained to the company since, and they simply didn't care about my experience. read more

I have been a patron of A-1 Limousine since 1996 when I landed my first consulting job that required travel on my clients' tabs. Despite the name, I ride almost exclusively in their sedans. They have been known from time to time to surprise me with a limo for the same cost, which of course gets my neighbors' attention and makes me look all gangster. But unless I plan to booze it up in the back seat, a sedan is just fine. Some of their cars show a little more wear and tear than others, but they are always clean and functional. I've also never had a bad driver with A-1. When I lived in NYC, unable to use A-1, I'd always fall victim to drivers who were falling asleep at the wheel after long shifts. That is the most awful, vulnerable feeling in the world, and I once had to call a driver out on it, demanding that I drive *THEM* to *MY* destination. That's never happened with A-1. As with most firms like this, the drivers can be a bit chatty, but I generally don't mind. In fact, today I had a nice gentleman named Gil take me to the airport and I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with him. A-1 drivers are always courteous and professional. A-1 always arrives at the pick up location a few minutes early, which will give you a little added piece of mind if you're like me and like to cut it close to your boarding time. They also run your credit card in the office ahead of time, including tips, tolls and gratuity. You just get in the car, go, and get out. No swiping, no adding, and no signing. Your receipt will be e-mailed to you. Always remember to get your price quote first and have them e-mail you that too, so you don't end up in a dispute later. Thank god someone else generally foots the tab, because the only downside of A-1 is that they are hella expensive. But they're the best game in town. read more

The best car service in the Princeton/Mercer County area. One time, I was on my way to JFK to travel west for work (yes, JFK. I didn't book the flight). Our car's alternator died about 15 minutes from home. I was panicked - I was traveling with a group of about 30 people and rebooking my flight was going to be a huge hassle. I called my neighbor to help us out, and she said 'get on the phone to A1 and tell them what's up'. I called them, explained what had happened, and they immediately dispatched a towncar to the location roadside where we were broken down. They stayed with my wife and I until the tow showed up for our car, then whisked me off to JFK in time for my flight. Since this, we have used A1 every single time we need to travel as a family to PHL or EWR. No, they might not be the cheapest - but they're the best, hands-down. The drivers are reliable, friendly and flexible. When they pick you up at the airport, they're waiting outside of baggage claim holding a sign with your name on it. They have always provided a child safety seat for our daughter when we request it, at no extra charge. The last time we were picked up at the airport, we were given a complimentary upgrade from a towncar to limousine. Can't say enough good things about them. I can count on them for rides to and from the airport (I have used their service for Newark but according to their website they serve "all major airports") as well as from Manhattan a couple of hours outside of the city to visit relatives when I'm without a car visiting. So pleasant to take a nap while someone else deals with driving, they get me there safely and on time. I don't want to deal with renting a car and driving after a long flight. A1 is not "cheap" but to me you are paying for what you get: great reliable service, high-quality and customer service. I used A-1 for a business trip that we rented a charter bus to go from East Windsor to Manhattan. The driver was friendly, knew what he was doing, and the entire trip was so absolutely enjoyable. Layla was great at sending me quotes and taking my payment information easily and seamlessly. She also called to check-in the week of the reservation to make sure nothing changed. She knew all of the answers to my questions and was so nice. Our driver, Steve M., was fantastic. He was fun, professional, on-time and an overall great sport. I have been a customer for years. They drive me from Bucks county to Philadelphia airport and are always reliable, on time, helpful. Its great to see that they have maintained this excellence for years and I don;t use car services frequently, but when I need to , I can call them and they continue to provide excellent service. Have been using this company for business trips for years for the company i work for.. SO...... loyal customer RIGHT.... Not anymore... A mishap where a limo company we got a quote on ended up picking up my co-worker. She did not know and took wrong limo by ACCIDENT. Anyway her flight was canceled and when i called to cancel her return trip, I explained what happen and was told we would NOT be charged. Long story short...... We were charged ( Full price for trip $ 138.00 )and when i called, was treated not so very nice by the manager. Comparing Fed Ex to UPS. This was an isolated case and would have been nice to have a company that is understanding verse charging us for a service that was not rendered. Needless to say.....
