The articles…read morewere written by Lynn who has a degree in Interior Design and together with Dave who is the Engineering Contractor and the other half of Artisan Kitchens. Their ideas and business model made sense, so when we finally decided to renovate we asked them for a design compiled from a discussion of our lifestyle choices and the type of house we had, which was a 1970's estate home that contained the standard tiny kitchen, dining room and low ceilings. Dave spent several hours with us designing a kitchen/dining room open concept which would meet our needs. There was no charge and no pressure to proceed. Life got busy and we didn't get back to him until a year and a half later. When we were ready to proceed, he found the files and we hammered down a plan and design that would work for us. The design was on computer and came complete with a video tour of the "vision". Ours was a big project that basically involved moving the entire kitchen into the dining room (with moved plumbing and electrical) as well as installing two huge cantilevered box windows. We made the decision to take the plunge and signed the contract which came complete with a binder full of subtrade information, product information, insurance and wcb information as well as payment schedule and contacts. It was a professional binder of all the information we needed to refer to. Our kitchen/living room renovation took four months to do. We were adament to avoid the typical renovation creep of "while we are at it..." and stuck to firm boundaries of the existing plans, unless there was obvious things to be fixed such as an exposed leaky plumbing pipe, and another pipe that really had to be moved. All the subtrades chosen by Dave were professional, efficient, came when they said they would, and stuck to the quoted amount. They creatively remedied any problem that came up. As one who hates surprises, I found that as time went on, I could trust Dave, Lynn, and the subtrades to do the job with the quality I expected, and the reasonable price they gave us. Our project came out on time and on budget, and that is a rare quality in boom time Calgary. We are very pleased with Artisan Kitchens and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone with a small or large project, kitchens, bathrooms, basements or any type of renovation, interior or exterior. Chris and his team did an exceptional job cutting, polishing, and installing a piece of granite to…read moreextend my kitchen counter. I had a matching piece from an alcove desk that I wanted reused. While other companies insisted I remove my entire kitchen countertop and bring it to their shop (requiring me to undo all my kitchen plumbing) Chris assured me he could complete the work on-site. Initially, I was skeptical, especially about their ability to freehand the cuts and control the dust in my condo. However, they exceeded my expectations. The seam is flawless (see photo), and the entire process was hassle-free. Dust was a non-issue thanks to their meticulous setup, which included multiple vacuums, water usage, and plastic tarps to contain the work area. I couldn't be happier with the results! We had Earnest provide and install new counters for our new kitchen. The best part was the edging he added once they were built. By pre-installing the counters the day after cupboards were done we were able to move ahead with the sink and get a working kitchen much sooner. From the first time I walked into their store until the quartz counter tops were installed I had…read morenothing but a stellar experience. The salesman was very helpful and gave me a tour of their facilities to pick out the stone. The installation guys were polite and efficient. The new countertops are perfect. One critique I might make would be that any staff that answers the phone be a bit more professional and state company name but hey not something I stress about. I asked a ton of questions and bugged the heck out of the install crew and everyone was very patient with me adding to a great end result.

Very disappointed. I went to see The Granite Guys in Calgary on February 10, 2025 about a small…read morebasement bathroom granite counter-top project. The counter-top fabrication was to be a rectangle of 75.5" long by 22.25" wide with a hole to accommodate an undermount sink. A pretty simple job. They sent me their standard form 2-page Contract ("Natural Stone/Quartz Fabrication Residential Agreement"). The first page contained name, location, contact details (name, address, phone), the Invoice/Job number and the pricing information, and the second page contained the scope of work information, and contract terms and conditions. The second page required two initials and a customer signature. It had already been electronically signed by an agent of the Company. On February 12, 2025, I signed the contract and paid the required 50% deposit. The three pillars of formation of a legal and binding contract were in place: their Offer, my Acceptance; and Consideration (a payment of money). Then on February 21, they sent me another 5-page document ("The ABC's of Countertop Installation") and said that they could not proceed with my project until I signed that document. I read it thoroughly, and there were things in there that were completely irrelevant to my project, and at least three things that were not acceptable to me because they could change the contract scope, price and quality. Some of them I agreed with, some I marked as not relevant and others that I objected to. I spent a few hours drafting a response to each and every point in the "ABC's" document and returned my comments to them on February 23. I received an email from them stating that they would not proceed with my job unless I signed (initialled) the document. I told them I could not sign it as-is, and was told that I should go somewhere else, because they were not going to do my job. I was shocked and insulted. They were effectively saying that they were breaching the contract and they didn't care. It is important to note that the Contract and the "ABC's" are two different and separate documents. The Contract is clearly marked as Page 1 and Page 2. The "ABC's" document does not have numbered pages, and is just a loose set of bullet points. There is no mention of the "ABC's" anywhere in the Contract. On Friday February 28, I received a call from Mr. Filipe Cabrales, who identified himself as one of the owners of the Company. Although we spent about 20 minutes on the phone, he could not understand that the two documents are different and separate, and that the "ABC's" were not a part of the Contract. I recommended that he seek legal assistance before closing the door on our Contract, because his Company was going into Breach of Contract. He remained firm, and at one point, he told me that he felt that I was wasting his time and that even being on the phone with me was "costing him money". My biggest concern at that point was their failure to understand the basics of contracts. We then exchanged emails to confirm our perspectives. On March 5, 2025, The Granite Guys returned the full amount of my 50% deposit, and the full-size template that I had prepared and delivered to them on February 12. I then had to find another supplier for my project, and that turned out to be the best part! I found a local competitor of theirs who gave me a quote that was ~15% cheaper, their personnel and installation crew were excellent, and the project was completed professionally and quickly. I don't recommend The Granite Guys based on my experience in dealing with them. (p.s., I am keeping all of the correspondence with them, just in case). I don't trust that they will be honest if they reply to my review.

I recently got my tub surround and vanity top done with Jade Stone, the design I selected was…read moreCambria Brittanica which has allot of marble like movement through out the design. The attention to detail Jade Stones fab team and installers had was incredible. The installer noticed our tub had a slight angle to the edge of the tub which was making installing around the tub difficult. He was not happy that the look would include a 1/8" gap and so invested 3 hrs in mitring each piece to create a beautiful seamless edge. The end product is incredible... I would absolutely refer this company!

After 11 years with our Jadestone countertops, we had the under mount sink fall away from the…read morecounter. The technician explained to me that 11 years ago they did not use brackets to reenforce them, which they now do. He remounted the counter and installed brackets and there was no charge for the service. That is excellent customer support!
